UUGGGHHHH!:scared1: I think I'm losing my mind! I told my neice I am throwing her a baby shower, and set up the EVENT on Facebook via Private invite only. I allowed my neice on as administrator so she can directly invite her friends, whom I dont' know all of.
I just took a look at the list so far.
16 are YES'S
5 are MAYBE'S
AND 66 have YET TO RSVP, 66!

This is happening at my house? I had no idea she even knew that many people well enough to invite to something like this. I haven't even invited other relatives yet! Now what do I do? I may turn it into a potluck so the food is covered, I think I may have to rent a Hall, but thats an expense I hadn't factored in. What have I gotten myself into?

.................Our room
From 2 down to one.

Obviously it is no secret these cruises are expensive.....
And something just wasnt setting right with me on the 2 room thing, so we can get back about $1700.

Any thoughts to help me let go of our private room and verandah on this cruise.

Oh wow- what a huge price difference! I think if we could get our total cost down to just $1700 we would totally do it- the only hesitation being losing the balcony. But wow...for the savings it's almost - how could you not?

Being that we have no choice but to do 2 rooms on DCL- I can say of course we would try squeezing back into one room if we could, in fact that is one of the reasons we are doing RCCL next month since we CAN all stay in one room still. And since your kids are older you may not even really lose all THAT much of your privacy..if they hang in the Stack til late you all may just be there for the sleep (and the getting ready but maybe that could be staggered or you and/or Mike could shower up in the spa for the extra space)? I do know I would get rid of the extra room in a heartbeat to save THAT much $$$, as far as giving up the balcony for the inside that is a little more difficult especially since you might want the little bit of seclusion that affords to sit out there and relax. So I guess it would depend on the amount of difference between the $1700 for the inside and the cost of one balcony room. Ay. $1700- what a GREAT price!!!!!

Whatever room setup you decide on you will still be on the cruise and having all the fun so I say do it as cheap as you can- why not? !!! :)

And I would LOVE to hear more about Disapalooza!! WOW!! What a great rate you got at that hotel, Nenner1! If I did that, my family would end up in the broom closet probably. :rotfl:

Ok- back to work-

It was wonderful- I don't know if you know exactly what it was but it was a private party at DHS (TSMM) after closing (9:30-midnight) given by the Dis/Dis Unplugged podcast/Dreams Umlimited Travel. It did cost a small amount ($25/pp) but what a great party! The green army men and Sarge escorted everyone back after the park had been cleared of day guests (I think the kids thought that was the best part- snickering at all the "poor souls" having to leave so we could go in and have the place all to ourselves LOL. I think the final count was 688 diser's and podcast listeners participating. It was so cool to walk through the empty park back to Pixar Place (which got pretty full when all of us got back there). There were tables set up with black tablecloths and candlelight, an all you can eat buffet with a Carnival/Fair theme- Sausages and Peppers, Corndog Nuggets, Nachos, Funnel Cakes, Cotton candy, Popcorn/Caramel Popcorn. The food was pretty darn good IMO also. Corndog nuggets were fantastic- I ate a TON of them!!! There was also entertainment- a balloon guy who made disney characters out of balloons for the kids (we had to wait quite a while in his line but he interacted well with the kids and got them all fired up) The character spot there was open for the first hour or so and Buzz and Woody were there for Meet & Greets- virtually NO wait at all (there were about 3 or 4 families in front of us)...and of course the centerpiece of the party TSMM..all you can ride- again virtually no lines. At the beginning of the party it was walk on/walk off/walk on again with no wait at all but as the eating and socializing outside slowed and the riding heated up later in the evening the wait did creep up to about 5 minutes. It was not longer than that. W e did get somewhat of a slow start riding since we did wait for a LONG time for Savannah to get her Tigger balloon plus we ate first and also did the character M&G before our first ride. So with a few short breaks to get drinks or bathroom or this & that we ended up riding 6 or maybe 7 times.
We did stay to the bitter end (walked out of the park right at 12:00) and I couldn't believe how fast the time FLEW. If they do it again next year (which I don't know if they will or not since they have the Podcast Cruise next December) I TOTALLY recommend attending!

The room- we have become huge marks for Hotwire! We have gotten some really good rooms for SUPER cheap- you just have to know how to crack the code so you know where you are staying. That is something we learned over yonder on Cruise Critic. Hotwire doesn't tell you which hotels you are choosing , just what star rating they are. For instance all we knew was that we were getting a 3 1/2 star hotel for $59/night and the general location. But there is a code in their listing which indicates which hotel it is and there are websites out there that break the code so you know what you are getting. Can't beat the value!!!

Glad you had a great time nenner

Even if i am extemely jealous!!

Aww, I'm sorry I don't mean to rub it in ;)I know you guys had a great time anyway. Plus it was totally worth it since we were already in Orlando and would have been there anyway but to drive over (and back) that late for just a few hours (that literally FLEW by) I think you guys made the right decision.

Oh my gosh!!!! I don't know how long they have to RSVP but I'm thinking it's likely that many of them won't actually attend. I know the stress of having a shower in your house though- my sister threw mine (at MY house LOL since it is bigger than hers and more centrally located)..It was only about 25 people though and THAT was way enough so I feel your pain. I think a potluck is a great idea! I hope you don't have to rent the hall (although that does make setup/cleanup easier I know it is way more costly). You'll probably have to wait to get a better count with 66 of them left to respond!! Good luck!!!

LOL, thanks. The invites were sent via email and facebook just yesterday. So far we have 20 confirmed to attend. I've relaxed a little about the hall thing if it comes to that. Turns out we can rent our Church lower Hall for very little, YAHHHH! 25 sounds like a nice number of guests. I had in mind 25 or less (but not more!) I think I set the cuttoff for two weeks before the Shower date, I was going to change it to a week before, but now I think not. It will be a Fabulous event nonetheless, and something to keep me busy, passing the time till our holidays next fall (that means I'll still have 7 months for which I'll have to find something to to keep me busy. Maybe I'll finish my trip report from our trip a month and a half ago.....

you know something else you could and not rent a hall is not have them all come at the same time........more like an open house.....roam in and out.

Have the food set up and ready to eat any time..
Have her open the gifts as they bring them in......
If you were thinking of any games 2 that you can play at an open house that i know of is
1...put #s on the bottom of the plates and have small really smallfor 66 people prizes that correspond with the #
2..also you could fill baby botle with some kind of small candy and have them fill out a slip of paper for a guess...the winner at the end of the day is called to come back and pick up the grand prize

:confused3:confused3:confused3

Oh i dont think you are rubbing it in...........I just have no problem admitting jealousy!

I think it is awesome that you got to go and do that.

I LOVE THAT RIDE!!!

It has been hard for me this year to stick with the saving money program...not hard but i have done alot of wishful thinking.

BUT we did get a house so i should just be happy!!

Looks like you guys had an awesome time.

I LOVE being in the parks when noone else is around.

Once we got to be in MK when noone but us was on main street...
When we were heading into the very earliest breakfast at Cinderellas Royal Table.

Yeah, that is the first time we have experienced it....just makes everything seem all the more magical. I would love to see MK empty like that, especially at night with all the lights (although it may never happen since we always burn ourselves out so early being rope droppers!);)

We were once in MK during a very cold December. We found a place in Frontierland to sit and watch the Main Street Electrical Parade and there was nobody else around except for the three CMs working that area.

Well thanks to TJBaggot - I'm finally drifting over to join the meet thread! :)

We booked while onboard the Wonder on the 6th - so I hadn't even gotten as far as remembering to hunt down you guys!

Wowza!! 56 families already? I think this makes the largest group of DISers we've been on board with so far.

Me (44) DH (39) and DD (7) from Denver, CO
we're presently booked in a GTY 9 -- which is new for me, we've done CAT 7s the past 3 times!

Dinner Seating = LATE

I'm kind of flaky about posting and go in spurts until about a month before sail when I suddenly can't stay off the boards! But I will try to get better for this one! :)

We'll definitely be doing ToTing and FE exchange.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone! :)

Roy E. Disney Dies at 79

Subject: THE PASSING OF ROY E. DISNEY

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of our friend and colleague Roy E. Disney. After a courageous year-long fight with stomach cancer, he passed away peacefully this morning at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, surrounded by his loving family.

Roy played an important role in our lives here at Disney, and in the success of our Company over many years. Along the way, he touched many of us in a personal way. During his 56-year association with the Company, his true passion and focus was preserving and building upon the amazing legacy of Disney animation that was started by his father and uncle. His commitment to the art of animation was unparalleled and will always remain his personal legacy and one of the greatest contributions to Disney's past, present and future.

Roy not only helped to keep the legacy alive, but he also embraced new technologies, and gave the filmmakers the tools they needed to tell their stories in new and exciting ways. He encouraged talent, and loved working with the creative community. And they loved working with him.

Roy was a Disney Legend in every sense of the word, and his contributions to this great company have been profound and will always be remembered. For the next week we will be flying the Disney flag at half mast here at the Studio and at our parks, and I know you join me in sending thoughts and prayers to Roy's wife, Leslie, his four children, and his 16 grandchildren. For those who wish to pay their respects, the family has requested that donations be made in Roy's name to the California International Sailing Association (CISA) to benefit youth sailing.

We met Roy on the 2006 DVC Member Cruise. What a gentleman and he had such great stories. He will be sorely missed.

Very sad....

I haven't told my kids about this cruise yet. First, it was because I wanted to make sure we would have the funds to do it and then because I didn't want to be bothered with questions like "How many days until October 2010?"

I surprised my daughter once before with a trip to Disney World for her birthday. I think I am going to pull that off again. Except she keeps catching me on these boards and asking "Why are you looking at that?"

My son (3 1/2) is still scouring the house for change and dumping what he finds in the plastic bottle in my room for "vacation". At the rate he is going, I should be able to pay for all of our shore excursions!

So far, I'm thinking the Turtle Farm in Grand Cayman coupled with a trip to beach seems like the best bet for us. I'm still not sure about Cozumel. I definitely want to try a Palo brunch this time (we've only done the dinner) and I definitely want to book some spa time for myself.

On our first cruise, our niece was with us so DD had a built in buddy. Our niece is not going with us this time. DD is shy, so I am hoping she can meet some other girls her age. She is going to be 9 1/2 then.

What a Relief! I have been saving for a brief period and finally have a cruise to call home. My DW (25), DS (6), and (Jonathan) me (33) all hail form St Louis. My son is curious about Trick or treating. I told him not to have his hopes too high but there is something on the boat.

My favorite vacation back in my college days was one where I literally did nothing but chill and hang with few friends on a porch swing. I looking for that "getaway." My parents and sister went on the Holloween cruise this year and had a great time. I have a personal journey for this cruise that is dear to my heart and only hope that my "wish" will come true. Anyway, its late here 2 am and I have a 13 hour work day... packages have Christmas written all over them.. haha. Be safe... and be kind to your Fedex guys :cool1:

Welcome FASTPAK and family

YES Disney does do Trick or Treat on the Ship....When i was on the Halloween Cruise it was cool there were various stops which you follwed by a map and then the map led you to the most awesome haloween party.

Also there will be a DIS Trick or Treat as well.....There are a couple of us who will be working on this If you look in the bottom of my siggi you will see the post # in this thread that tell about the DIS TOT.

Hope all your Dreams and wishes come true on the Magical Vacation!

I know that Knewton is the great story teller of our group ........ so hope fully it can do it justice...

This just happened to me last night at midnight

SO .... I had a very long day yesterday
I worked from 3 am to 3pm getting orders ready to be picked up for today (last day of school and parties)

I left knowing my work wasnt finished and would have to go back late in the night.

I thad rained here on and off during the day.

I went home and basically slept in my recliner on and off between eating soup my Dh brought me and listening to THE POURING RAIN and i mean POURING.

A couple times when i woke i saw flash flood warnings across the TV but they were mainly for just south of us.

SOOOOOOOOOOO at about 11:45pm i leave to go back to work to prep for morning. I drive to the interstate and another down pour....We were traveling no more than 5 miles an hour on the interstate it was like driving in a thick fog (for any of you who may have done that) the interstate was a sea of flashers finally i think i have reached the correct exit....yep right road.

I start down my road towards work and there is standing water i call my hubby and say i thinkmaybe i should turn around....
BUT i wait....
And i wait too long
Ahead of me is a massive MASSIVE amount of water....Cars literally FLOATING down the rest of the street....People behind me stop ...the road is 4 lanes widenand about 6 cars deep in those 4 lanes.....Just dead stopped at the edge of this massive river in the middle of the road i noramly drive on for work...

THERE is 2 cars in front of floating and 2 cars on the opposoite side floating...Why do i not just turn around there is a curb to my immediate left i see 2 larger vans get over the curb so i tell DH who i am on the phone with that i am goign to try to go over curb at which time a CITY bus gets stuck going over the curb blocking several lanes in both directions....

IT IS POURING...heavier rain than i have ever seen

People are honking ...likes that going to help

A bus is stuck on a curb....SEVERAL people are pushing there cars through the knee to waist deep water Up ahead a massive amount of cars just stuck with flashers on.

It is now 1am i try to back up nope not gonna work to many people.

poeple are trying so many things to get away from the rising water. None of which are working more peoplejust getting stuck on the curb or floating.

SO i get out of my car find the nicest looking young girl i can find and ask if she wants to get out of this mess.

WELL YES OF COURSE SHE DOES...

Together we go to the back of all the traffic and one by one have everyone back up beyond the curbb at a spot where we can turn around.
Helping elderly see there way in the dark and pouring rain pushing a couple people out of the mud to our right where they had tried to get away.

THEN FINALLY it is my turn to leave!!!!!!

WHOOHOO.

DRENCHED and TICKED off that i never made it to work it is now 2am and i back up all the way to the end of the curb and head home........
Feelign pretty good about myself for a job well done even though i never got to work.

I felt bad leaving the others who had stranded them selves BUT

I headed home.

Hope they did fine at work this morning without me.

Wow, thanks for sharing that with us. My heart was beating faster as I read, hoping you and others got out well.
Funny how in those situations, yes, people start honking thier horns, or just sit there. I think you were many people's Guardian Angel last night. Did you get to sleep in this morning? :thumbsup2

Yes i slept til 8:45 which is a good sleep in for me!

I couldnt believe the way people were acting.

A cop car actually paswed me early on before traffic got backed up so much and went over the curb and left us there.:confused3

AHLAM.......
Talk to me girl.....

Just wanna know who you are.....

What is your name on here.............

Just joined you to my friends on facebook.......

And you have my daughte on your friends list............

THAT IS JUST CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:surfweb:
