Correct. The Wonder will be home-ported in Los Angeles, but my guess is the finalized contract will not require the Wonder to stay at the LA port the entire year opening up the Hawaiian cruise option.

The opening of the DVC property in 2011 and the Dream setting sail in the same year moving the Wonder to the west coast is too coincidental for me.

Oh, now I get your point! That would be sweet, a cruise to Hawaii! I might even get my wife on a transcontinental flight for that one.

YES!!! Let's gang up on her!! She DOES need to be on this cruise!!!!:thumbsup2

When are your visits planned to F&W? I'll be there twice- once with DH the last week in Sept and then again the 1st week of November.:goodvibes

We are going on Oct. 17 & 18. We were just going to drive over for a one-off (what I call just going ot the park for a day) but we found some great rates and will probably stay at Pop. Never been there so I'm up for giving it a try!

I noticed your tickers and I was just thinking how awesome to have all those visits coming up! :)

I would love to help gang up on DREA It would great to have her on this cruise as well. Lois

I'll get to work on her....I'll rag her on FB till she can't stand it anymore! :rotfl:

Ok- I am waaaaaaaayyyyy behind and trying to catch up,

I would soooooooooooooo love to do the new resort with a cruise....but don't think any Disney boats will be over in Hawaii then, so guess I'll have to come back another time....:goodvibes

DID you see the post WAY BACK where it said if any one calls the SHIP a BOAT you owed the person who called you out on it a DRINK!!!!!!!

Yes- I believe it was directed at ME! I'm all for buying drinks for friends on the boat! :rotfl2: OOPS!!!! ;)

Another beautiful day here in NJ. Thanks to Danny, the last weekend of the summer is a washout. :(. Well at least all the BENNYS will not be on the roads today, lol:lmao: So I guess no one won the Mega Millions last night except two people from CA and NY. If we won, the first trip we would take is the QM2 around the world cruise, then fly our friends and family to Disney for a week, all expenses paid and rent the park at night just for us. :cool1: But then I woke up and only have 2 numbers, so I guess the trip will have to wait.:rotfl:

Is any one planning to fly down before cruise?

I don't believe the Wonder will be sailing Mexican Riveria cruises full-time and DCL withdrew its Alaskan permit application so a natural progression would be for the Wonder to repo to Hawaii. From reading the DVC news the Oahu property is in full swing and scheduled to open in 2011.

If all works out well we may sail twice in 2011: a 4 day "Dream" vacation and then later in the year a "Wonder"ful Hawaiian cruise. Keeping our fingers crossed. :thumbsup2

DCL won't be going to Hawaii, at least not anytime soon. There is a pretty good article that lays out all the reasons but the number one reason is due to its foreign flag. Unless DCL can get Congress to repeal laws that have been on the books since late 1800's, the only way they could operate in Hawaii would be to "re-flag" as an American ship (and that would require special dispensation since the ships are not American made). This reflagging would require them to pay American wages and comply with overtime laws, etc. which would drive their costs up significantly. Check out the article for the other reasons why this won't happen.

The PVSA (Passenger Vessel Services Act) needs to be restructured which won't happen anytime soon, but at least for the moment a 12 or 14 day cruise out of Los Angeles to Hawaii or Hawaii to Los Angeles is possible as long as they make a stop in Ensenada, Mexico.

It would actually be better for us to fly to Hawaii, stay at the DVC property for a few days, hop the islands on the Wonder, and then fly out of LAX instead of Honolulu. The return flight home would only be 6 hours instead 11 or 12.

I went over to the BIG thread about it. And it is a bit overwhelming.

I almost dont want to "interefere" with there regular chit chat to ask questions.

I know you had said you all might go and we just put in a request with Dreams Unlimited, for 2 night stay.

It is my Bday so it woulkd be my Bday present.

But Is everyone welcome....I dont want to be a party crasher. I dont listen to the PODCAST.....But it says DIS/DISPODCAST/DU......So i assume it is for everyone.

My parents live in Ortley Beach and I spent my youth at the beach so I am with you on the BENNYS comment.

We are flying down 3 or 4 days early, not sure what DVC property we'll be staying.

Looking at a calendar, we will fly down late on Thursday (half day at work) That way we are in disney for our 10th anniversary on the 29th. I am going for BLT (for now) and wait list for ALK Concierge level. On the back end, BLT for a one or two nights.

Is it me or are most of use from NJ and taking NJ teachers week off?

I feel stupid for asking this, but how can anything with jalapeno or cheddar in it be called a cookie? If it doesn't start with chocolate chip or oreo, it's not a cookie :rotfl:

.....where wud life be w/o your cookies? ....just don't toss them while on the Magic :lmao: .

Ok.....all I know is that I was chillin out out on the Wonder (in Jan '09) sippin on some Margaritas and I brought along some key lime cookies & some jalapeno cheedar cheese cookies (from the Byrd cookie company). Those jalapeno cookies had just a slight "kick" to them that, combined with a Margarita, just really accentuated the taste of the Margarita to a even better level of taste.

Now, on the other hand - I hear ya about the Choc Chip or Oreo cookie question :goodvibes. Say....this does open up the floor for a excellent question. Ok.....so where wud u suggest I go to check out the ultimate WDW choc chip cookie or some other snack :confused3 ?
Per se, my pre-day will be at POFQ and I plan on havin my very 1st WDW rice krispy treat (dipped in chocolate of course) from Goofy's Candy Shoppe as well as a Chocolate Malt from Ghiradelli's while I am out & about. But what about that choc chip cookie or ?????
I figure since I have recently (here in Dallas Texas) tried Hawiian Icka ....dipped in Ghiradelli chocolate (not bad but tastes like salty tenny-shoe laces with an attitude), I wanna try other foods while I am at the House of Mouse.

Also, "Goofy" question but gotta ask: has anyone been out to the Boardwalk area?? Worthwhile checking out?? Opinions please.

Ok - been real... cya sunday pm :goodvibes.

p.S......oopps!! I just noticed something! Look at the screen name above me! That's my nickname (Figment) since my screen name contains my last name (Newton)........ Too Funny! Figment is pretty cool but......gotta say tho that my FAV Disney character...hands down...is Goofy.

My favorite snack at WDW is the ice cream sandwich at Main Street bakery/ice cream shop. 2 large choc chip cookies with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream:banana::banana::banana: I eat very healthy but this is always breakfast one morning

We have been to the boardwalk a few times but only for dinner and the ESPN club to watch the Phillies last year in the world series. If you have a lot of free time it always fun to check out the other properties, but I would not make a trip there unless it was for dinner IMHO.

Now you opened Pandora's box......

Dinner:O'Hana's in the Poly:thumbsup2
Lunch: Earl of Sandwich or Puck's
Breakfast: Tony's (but you have to be in a grand gathering)

Drinks: Hands down, Dole Whip:yay:

I still can not believe that we are over a year to go and we have all these post's.

Oh no, don't worry about that, it is for everyone! :goodvibes
The podcast board can seem cliquey but they are very nice. I don't hang out there too much cause I just don't have a ton of time to browse and most of their topics there do go off on a tangent.

We do plan on going but it will depend on Savannah's dance convention, which is that weekend and I don't know how late things will run. One of her competitions last year ran until 11 PM so I can't count on it for sure until we get the schedule which will probably be in Late Oct/Nov.

You guys should totally go for it. You can't beat $25 for unlimited TSMM!!!:thumbsup2

Well....Main St. bakery has good ones. I still can't get over that the good smell in there is piped in! ;)

Re: Goofy's I read something about the rice krispy heads being over $8 now.
It was a thread on the restaurant board. I think the plain ones are still in the $4-$5 range but everyone was venting on the price increase for the choc dipped one. I have only had the pre-packaged ones which are probably not as good ..but that was quite a bummer. Heard the pretzel rods are either limited to one topping (might be DDP only tho) or real expensive now too. We haven't been to Goofy's yet and are looking forward to it but those prices seem a little outrageous. We usually don't make it past Ghiardelli's...:rotfl2:

Also, "Goofy" question but gotta ask: has anyone been out to the Boardwalk area?? Worthwhile checking out?? Opinions please.

We haven't yet but saw it from BC/YC earlier this year and look forward to checking it out. There is a candy/bake shop there too...LOL :thumbsup2

On our Panama Canal thread, I think we were well over 70,000 posts by a year out.....

Be glad its only this many
