Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Who are we supposed to PM?

Thanks

If you mean about the rollcall - you don't need to PM me - I hope to get all updated by today (or tomorrow. . . ) crazy work getting in the way. . . :rotfl2:

Had a huge rental car fiasco last night that turned me up in knots! For quite a while we've had a rental car booked with Hertz, for taking our son up to College. A few weeks ago, when DH decided to take this Friday off work, we decided to leave Friday morning instead of Friday night, which means we'd need to pick up the rental car Thursday evening intstead of Friday morning. We'll also be arriving back on Monday early in the day instead late Monday. So during that few weeks ago, I called the rental place to say we likely would need to change the date to that, and I was told "No problem, yes we'll have a car for you". I asked if we'd still just be charged the 4 days and again was told "Yes".

So yesterday, I realized I had never called back to confirm that change in dates, so did that yesterday late afternoon. I was then told, by that agent, that I will be charged for a 5 day rental. Pick the car up at 5:30 Thursday, but their office is closed on Monday, and even if I return it by 8 am on the Tuesday, when they open, I'll still be charged 5 days. I called another place, who said I could rent it for 4 days, and return it on Monday at the AIRPORT, which is open on Monday. Why didn't Hertz offer that? THe other rental place was charging a lot more for the rental though.

So then I called Hertz at the airport, Yes I can pick up a car on Thursday, return it Monday, pay for 4 days, and a the same rate I had booked the other Hertz car at! So, it's all set. Finally.

I just hate it when you think you have all plans worked out, then a wrench is thrown into things at almost the last minute. Now to get DS to finish packing!
My living room has turned into Packing Station Central! How do I talk him out of taking all his Hockey equipment? He insists on continuing to play Hockey with a Junior house league there. He's already called, got the dates for registration, and is working out how he'll pay for all that himself. THats great, but do you know how HUGE a bag of Hockey Equipment is? (Oh and it STINKS too!)
:)

Glad you got your last minute hiccup sorted - I know exactly what you mean, you have planned this trip to the finest detail and then someone sticks a spanner in the works. At least you are all ok now.

I can't believe it is this Friday you make your trip! It seems to have come around really quickly. I just wanted to say hope all of the last minute prep (and packing!) goes well, and that you have a safe and easy trip this weekend :wizard:

That looks awesome! And you are still making him make 10 days after all that work? :goodvibes The creative gene is rampant in your home.

It was his idea to do the date markers, so yes. He's got a month still ;)

Thanks everyone for the compliments, we have a lot of fun crafting here!

Good luck with your trip, Judy. I'm glad you figured all that out.

I just got back from dropping my baby off for her first day of middle school (5th grade). The "I'm not nervous girl" woke us up at 4:15 am because she couldn't sleep. Yeah, I guess you are nervous, and that's okay. I almost threw up after dropping her off...I'm sure it will all be fine, but I think I need a nap today! :)

Thanks, just trying catch up a bit here. Too much activity for my simple brain.

What a day with the car rental situation for you. I am so glad that you got it all worked out! I hope all goes well with your trip this weekend!!!!

I love your Disney Cruise count down too!:goodvibes Very creative!:thumbsup2

I hope your daughter's 1st day of middle school goes well today. I am sure my kids will be too excited and nervous to sleep well tonight too. They start school tomorrow. I can't believe school is starting already. This summer sure has gone by fast!

Vicki

Thanks all. I called this morning to find out what kind of car, so we'll have a better idea of trunk size. And I find out we CAN'T rent a car from the airport, as we AREN'T FLYING IN! UGGGHhhhhh. BUT, I called back our original place and enquired about still taking the car from them, but Returning it to the airport, at a 4 day rental cost and getting the same price I was quoted on priceline. "YESSSSSS" We can do that. So all is still good. And the guy told me, the car will most likely be an Impala. That's a Chevy isn't it? :rolleyes1 But it's a car, and better be a newer model, to get us there safely. I don't need anymore surprises!

Off to get some groceries so can feed the gang here some lunch today. Can't find DS17's Winter Coat, which he needs to take with him, so I also have to get him up (I'm hoping it's in his room). The day can only get better right? I can laugh now, that must be a good thing. :)

Ok, so I haven't been on in a while and I think everything has already been cleared up on our info...but just to be sure...

trara1375 is Tara & Tim; Hunter (9) and Chancelor (5)

and last I knew our stateroom was/is 2631 (I haven't gotten any info from our Travel Agent since we've been PIF...so I'm waiting on my Disney Papers)

You guys have done an amazing job of keeping these lists together and organized. I can only imagine what kind of time you've all put into this already! Thank you so much.

Yes - I know! I have 3 kids in hockey (2 Rep + 1 House League). My garage is soooo bad, that I actually put those hanging room scents things (dont' really know what they're called) all over the place. The worse....going into the dressing room to drop off the stuff....all those bags in one room....talk about STINK!! My husband says there's a dryer that you can put the hockey stuff in and it will sanatize the equipment. We need to wait to get that one....the $ needs to go to my vacation this year!!!!

Thanks for the compliments on the countdown. DH is very proud. ;)

I'm sure the first day will be fine. She's a good kid, and really likes school, so she should be fine. I just hope she doesn't have too much homework on the first night...

So what a weekend. It was supposed to be a part for my nephew it turned into 18-20 hour a day sleeping. As you all know, I have been working crazy hours at work. I was getting about 4-6 hours of sleep a day and my body just shut down on me. I have never been in pain from sleeping so much.I literally got off Friday night, slept for 12, got up for 2 and slept for four till the night and then repeated.

That being said, I only have a few more weeks left of this crazy schedule. I was telling my wife about it, then this song came up.

So for those of ya, overworked, a tad stressed, and I understand and I hear ya!

I just booked our limo to the port....I am so EXCITED!!! It makes it seem even more real!!! :dance3::dance3:

I also called DCL this morning to request our servers again- if they are still there...we had Christian & Ranzil the last time, they were amazing. Even DH was talking about them the other day- and how he hopes we get them again. :lovestruc

Here's a pic of my FE from the last cruise, to add to the collection-

Has it been decided if we're still one big FE group, or if we are breaking it down into smaller groups? Just wondering how many presents I need to make. :goodvibes

A limo is cool, we booked a Southern Elegance stretch to take us from port to BCV. We are taking the bus to port, kinda like the experience of being with lots of cruisers all excited to embark on their cruise.

FE group: It seems most have suggested one big list which I agree with although no formal announcement has been made.

Servers: We had a great server in 2004 and requested him in 2005 and 2006. In 2008 he was on vacation and our servers were okay. Since then he has taken a "hiatus" from DCL so not sure who to pick.

Do you have main dining? Do you have pictures of them? Would really like to find someone with that Disney "Magic".

Good luck to all of you with little (and big ones) off to school. This is the first year we don't have anyone going off to college!!! I am so happy I did not have to do the whole packing up for college thing...it was very stressful.

Just filled out my DD and nephew's online docs hoping that may spark a cabin assignment but no...still showing as a GTY....they don't really care but I am getting anxious for them to know what cabin they are in. They are a Cat 11 GTY.

Anyone else in an inside GTY get their cabin assignments yet?

Our house is finally quiet again...we had DD's friend from Norway with us for a month and she left Sunday and then another of her friends and dog were here for the week and now DD and friend went back to Michigan and we are dog sitting....dog is too cute and no bother at all. Maybe I'll keep her forever....LOL!!!

We have late dining. When I called today, they said that they may not be on board anymore, they may have fulfilled their contracts. Who knows? Or maybe Ranzil is now a main server instead of asst? We'll find out when we get on board. I know that on our last cruise, on the last night, our guys got a new table of 8 handed to them- those people came over to us, just to tell us how lucky we were to have had them all week- they had had a horrible server, and requested to be moved. That's why they were with us at the end. SOOOOO....if I get anyone less wondeful than Christian & Ranzil, I'll request to be switched after the 1st night and hope for the best. I do believe, however, that most of the servers are wonderful- so chances are good we'll get someone wonderful, even if we don't get the same pair. We just all loved them, and would love to spend another week with them.

Yes, the right serving team can make an incredible difference. I will ask for them when we get onboard. I like going to Rockin Bar D to see the restaurant managers. A few hugs, a little catchin' up, and then finding out the lastest on whose onboard, vacation, no longer with DCL.

Great photo! Thanks.
