Oct 3 - Dec 30 FD & Code Watch (Only)

When I booked last weekend, the CM checked for me then and also told me I could call back as often as I would like and check every person's name that would be going on the trip anytime I wanted to.

I understand that they are being slammed with calls questioning free dining and pin codes but it takes longer to argue with someone about the reasons why you are not telling them than to look their name up.

In the end, it will all work out fine like it always does. Just wanted to give people a head's up or see if anyone else had this issue.
 
I called back to double check and the second CM told me that she was not able to check if I had a pin code associated with my name unless I gave her the pin code number. She asked if I received correspondence from Disney and I said that I do all of the time but might have missed the number. I asked her if this was a new policy, she stammered around a bit then said it is a policy that has been in place since she has been there for over a year and a half.

I explained to her that when I booked the reservations two weeks ago, I was told to keep calling back as much as I liked to check the pin codes on my account or for any of the people associated with the trip. She repeated what the first lady told me which was she was not allowed to look that information up unless I provided her with the pin code number.

Either I got two bad CM's in a row or we are going to have to eagle eye all of our correspondence! :) I guess we do that already....
It kind of goes in phases. Last year around this time a lot of people were reporting the same thing that the CM told you. I think when they get sick of looking up codes they give the line.

I've had CMs tell me that they can't look up that info and can call right back and have one give me the info and be happy to help.
 
I also think it's kind of silly all the hoops we have to jump through to get a discount code. It seems kind of undemocratic or something. It's taken the fun out of planning this trip. :sad1:
 
that seems ridiculous that they are giving you trouble, when if they just would make life easier by sending codes out in a better way then we wouldnt be calling!

I'm just speaking in generalities here and in no way am saying that you're one of those people, but what I think is even sillier is the fact that many EXPECT a discount, simply because they got one before and complain to high heaven when one doesn't appear.

My daughter and I are headed to WDW Oct. 14-19 and I'm really hoping for some sort of discount, but have also prepared our budget on the premise that there won't be one.

There should be some kind of discount out next month, based on the historical discounts chart. It will just depend what it turns out to be. Can't wait to find out!!! We are hoping free dining, but any discount is great! We had to skip WDW last year, and of corse FD was given in the fall. This year, knowing my luck it will probabkly be just a room discount. Either way...116 days to go!!!!

I'm going this year with or without a discount and have planned for not having one too like you have Trep (my fellow Oklahoman!) but like many have said, it sure would be nice!

We have had that savings the last couple of years and of course want it again. I think it's alright to hope however when you expect anything in life you will surely disappointed more than a time or two.

In all reality, once the economy is on the uprise the days of Disney discounts will be few and far between but from my viewpoint it's not completely there yet.

I love this board! I have learned so many cool things here!!
 
All I can hope is that the CMs are so sick of the pin calls that Disney decides to move up the discount release dates! Come on pixie dust! :cool1:
 
Ok, say that they come out with a new promotion for our dates (10/10-10/18). I know that POFQ is totally booked for that time frame now. Does that mean that I wouldn't be able to apply the discount to our reservations because they are booked solid? I know it always says that they are "limited".

For the discount they usually offer a "limited number of rooms" at the price. If the rooms are sold out, I doubt they would have any to offer or let you rebook at the discount. In the past I have had to chage resort to get the discount...but pixie dust may fly your way.

I am really hoping they come out with a discount next month. I believe I got my discount (ticket & room package, we only payed $350 each for 5 nights/6 days at Pop!) for our November trip around the end of July.

Regular dining plan in mod and deluxe resorts- it sounded like nothing was available in value- and there was a blackout in November (probably Thanksgiving). I don't remember exactly when because I was so surprised that my October dates were covered!

I may be wrong but I would guess as people call in to switch to the free dining discount, it would free up that room in the switch over. So if all rooms are booked solid with no discount, and there would technically be 50 ( just guessing on #)rooms allowed for the free dining promo, I would imagine that they would allow 50 non discount rooms to be unbooked and rebooked immediately to the same person as a free dining room. That would seem to make sense to me.

Yes, but I think they alot a certain number of rooms for each type of discount. They should have a certain # of % off rooms and a certain # of free dining rooms. The only people who would have free dining right now are the ones who have been lucky enough to get a PIN for that time period. However, someone would have to be on the phone pretty quickly to have any chance of being one of the few to switch their room to a free dining room if the resort is booked solid with people sitting on a non discounted room just waiting for the discounts to become available.
