Oct 3, 2009 Wester Carribean

Hi everyone. Hope your week has started off to a great start. Mine's doing alright. :) Had a great night with Trina last night. We got the last of our "little things" for the cruise last night at Target. May I make a suggestion, don't let Trina drive in Target. LOL That's all I'll say. We laughed so hard we were sure our sides were gonna split. :) What fun!

My ink cartridges come today for the printer (which took til Saturday to get fixed) and so the remainder of this week and probably some of next week I'll be working on printing out my magnets and such. :) Very cool! I'm hoping by the end of next week to have the embarkation day shirts finished. Guess only time will tell.

Well, not much more to report today. Michelle, I'm so glad to hear your dad is doing well. Hopefully PT doesn't beat his bum too bad. :)

Will chat atcha all later! Kristi

Since we needed to move our cruise up (and recently moved, started new job, new school, etc.), I've been a bit behind on planning this cruise! We would like to visit the beaches at both Cozumel and Grand Cayman and maybe do some shallow snorkeling while there. Our girls are 6 and 4 so shore excursions are out ("too boring" would be DD4's comment)!:lmao:

Can anyone recommend any beaches and travel options to those beache? I did a search on other posts but it's bringing up too much so I'm going back here, first.

Thanks!
Amy

Amy - we are doing a dolphin swim at Chankannab National Park in Cozumel. I think I read they have a pool as well as a swimming beach and alot of other things to do. You should check out their website.

Sounds like everybody is getting close to being done with everything cruise related. I am still trying to get my FE gifts done and get a FE purchased. The lady I was going to buy from on ebay has vanished so I'm looking at other options.

I just realized that I can say "we are leaving 5 weeks from tomorrow". We are staying at a hotel near the airport Wednesday night (because that is cheaper than paying parking at the airport) and then we fly out Thursday morning. 5 weeks sounds so soon!!! I can't wait!!!

Amaya (and Riley) have their first soccer game on Saturday and I have to work...what luck:sad2: I'm going to try to take a long lunch at see part of the game. But the good thing is that will be 8 hours of OT that will show up in my mid September paycheck - that'll buy a few DOTD :rotfl: .

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week. See you real soon!

Terri

I know I'm newer, but hope to "get to know" everyone soon!

I paid for our cruise in full July 27th and then immediately went on to book our Palo res. I had it confirmed and saw it under my Saved items. Recently, we were able to switch to the FL resident rate and did so. When we were switched, though, I think our res. dropped as was never added back (or however that works). I am in contact with our Travel Agent and they are trying to get us a reservation. But, when they contacted DCL, they said they did not see our "old" Palo res.

Do any of you know any other tricks to get a Palo res before getting on the boat? Hoping not to stand in that line on the first day.

Thanks, in advance,
Amy

Terri: I was looking at FE on ebay, as well. I was hoping to find some type of Locker Hanging Pocket thing, but we live in a more isolated area so no office supply stores to speak of. I believe the ebay member is just on vacation until the first week of September. Plenty of time to still get one made, I would think.

Let me know how it works out!

Amy, did you print out a confirmation of your ressies? I always print it out, in case of online gremlins eating the info:surfweb:. If your TA can't get you something, I think your only recourse will be waiting in line after boarding. The good news is that some ressies get held until then, so you should have a pretty good chance.:thumbsup2

I have a question for the 8-10 year old girls moms/dads. My DD has her own email. I haven't yet had her look over the list, though I did tell her there were a lot of girls her age:grouphug:, but I was thinking they might want to email a bit before the cruise (of course, you all may have been doing that all along...:confused3). I don't want to post it here (obviously), so if you think your DD might want to email mine, PM me the email address and I'll have her start that.

I have the same problem. I have my Fish Extender from last year, but I really wanted one of her pillow cases. I browsed some of her previous work and saw a Fish Extender with Chip and Dale in nautical costume and I just fell in love. I send her a message through Ebay and PMed her on here to see when she would next list stuff, but no reply.

I had heard that she would be back August 6th and that is a while ago. Hopefully she will still be able to do my pillow case if she is back early September. I suppose she could always send the package to the Magic so that it is waiting there for me. I did the same last year with my jewellery for formal night and that worked a treat.

Hi to all;
I got my room number today:banana::banana::banana:
is 1041, upgrade to cat 10 :dance3:

:cheer2: see you soon:grouphug:
Beda

Congratulations on getting your room number and an upgrade. What category did you have booked?

I hope that the others who are still in GTY status will get their room numbers soon.

Corinna

Hey Amy! Have you checked the DCL website? The last time I checked, there were reservations for 2 available for both brunch and dinner. Other than that and following up with your TA, the only thing I can think of would be to do it on embarkation day. Good luck!

Hi Corina:
Cat 12 GTY
I check the location and is in the first floor:rolleyes1 is no many rooms there but...three elevators;)

Beda looks like we'll be neighbors, we got our room # today and it's 1045. I looked at the deck plan and it looks like we'll be the only people "down under".:rotfl2: We can have our own deck party.:cool1:

Wow. We are getting closer!!:cool1::cool1:

I finally booked our air tickets and hotel for before the cruise. We fly in Thursday around 4:50 and will be staying at the Marriott in Cape Canaveral. We will either be doing a beach day or Space center on Friday depending on the weather.

We also have been assigned our cabins.:banana: We booked cat 12 and were assigned two connecting cat 9 on deck 1 (#1050 & 1052). Time for deck one party.:cheer2:

I was a late comer and came just a couple days after the FE cutoff. :) Many of you graciously added us on. :woohoo:I added you all on.:yay: However I would be happy to start a late comer list if people are interested. I only see the two new bees who asked. I will start one going, does anyone mind?

36 days till we fly out.

That sounds like a nice upgrade. Our table mates on our first cruise where on deck 1 and they really loved it. They said that it was really quiet most of the time and they were right by the gangway on port days.

Looks like most people who had GTY status have ended up on deck 1. I think from the people who are doing Fish Extenders it is only KY Cruisin who do not have a room number listed yet.

It is kind of strange not to join in with that particular excitement this time round. Out of the 4 cruises we did, three of them we were in GTY status. For this one we had a stateroom number as of day one. I am thrilled with the room we have, but waiting for your room assignment kind of adds to the excitement for me. I suppose I can eagerly await my room assignment for the Westbound Transatlantic. The first few people already had their room assignments.

Has anybody got their cruise documents yet?

For me its the first time this month that I have two days off in a row. We went out for dinner at a new steak house last night and it was great. Today I will do some grocery shopping and then I will finish off the Fish Extender gifts. The stuff that I ordered to finished them off arrived on Monday, but I realised that my plans how to attach the decorations to the main thing did not quite work. So I had to think of a plan B very quickly. Fortunately I should be able to get what I need in town and then I will have some fun putting everything together.

That is the electric shopping carts not my car! You have to admit those clothing racks were a little close.:rotfl2::lmao:

Corinna----Ummm don't forget me!!!!:rolleyes1 I got my room assignment....room 2500! Deck 2 cat 9 upgrade!! I am soo glad I got an oceanview....love those rooms and love the split bath!!! Wasn't sure how we were gonna handle anything under a cat 10! Well ok I could have handled it cause as Andrea reminds me...I was off the boat for a few weeks there! Anyhow U are right we only have Pam to report her room and we will have all rooms for the fish extender!:surfweb:

Btw....if anyone takes an upgrade at the port ,please make sure if u are in the FE that u come to the meet and greet cause I think that is the only way we will find out!

WELL off to work....we are getting closer. Will be so exciting to start hearing that we all start getting documents!!! in the next 2 weeks I think we will see some people getting them!:cheer2:

Congrats to all you who got your room numbers (and upgrades no less)! :) Woo Hoo!!!! Can't wait for the documents to start arriving. :)

I got my stickers printed out last night and made sure the size of our embarkation shirt iron-on is ready to go. Made a couple of realizations. First, I need iron-on stuff for dark shirts, not the light ones I have for the last time around. Ooops. :) That's what I get for thinking I can just use what I have. LOL And second, we may have to find somewhere else to print our magnets. My printer doesn't wanna accept my magnet sheets. :( We're gonna try once more and if it doesn't work we'll have to figure something else out. I've got TONS of magnets to print out and I have the magnet paper. Hmmmmm, maybe I can beg Trina to help me out. :) After all, she works at a reproduction center. :) Guess I've gotta start kissing up just in case. LOL

Well, I'm not dressed yet for work and I should leave here in about 5 minutes so I'd best be going now. Chat atcha all later! Kristi

Yes, I have been checking everyday on DCL's website. So far, I have not seen any openings. I did call DCL directly and their IT dept. looked at what I had done online. Apparently, I did not push a crucial "book it" button at the bottom of the page! I thought it showed up on our Plans page, though. Either way, I will know from now on to write down that confirmation number! Lesson learned.

DCL has made the ship aware of our little mix-up and will hopefully already have something booked for us once we are on board. So, I'll be in line at 1pm. :flower3:

Thanks for everyone's help.

On another note, I think our Septic System is having issues. We just moved in to this house that is only 2 years old and I walked around the house after my walk this morning to find a gurgling pipe. This cannot be good. I'm new to Septic so this should be quite the learning experience. Crossing my fingers that the service can come out before the weekend....

I'm on Plan B, which is to spray adhesive regular paper to the magnet paper. That way, I can still cut around it and it's a full magnet and all that. I've tried it with one, though I haven't cut it yet, to see how well the adhesive holds - wanted to make sure the glue was dry!

I've been reading several posts about people going to the Space Center on Friday. Who all's going? We'll have to keep an eye out for each other! Or maybe, when we get onboard on Saturday, we can point and say "I saw you yesterday!" :yay:

Where is the list of late comers for the FE? I can look to see if I have enough to add you on. How many cabins are there and how many kids? Let me know and I'll try to add you on. Especially if you're down on deck 1 with me, we can't leave you out! Heck, I'll grab a piece of fruit or something to give to you. since we'll be down there sleeping with the produce, we'll know where to go for those late night snacks, right down the hall.:lmao:

We're going to the Space Center Friday. There will be 5 of us, DH, DMIL, DU, Amaya and me! Hope to see you there!
