Oct 28, 2007, Halloween 4-night cruise on Wonder

As for costumes, we are painfully unprepared so far. I'm sure we'll go all out for DD, but Dh and I aren't too into the dressing up thing. I'd do it if I could find a simple costume, but I really doubt Dh will do it at all. Maybe I can get him to wear an eye patch or something.

Has everyone booked their excursion and Palo reservations? Yesterday was the day I could do it, and I still haven't done it yet. Too much going on around here, and I'm just not organized!

We are not going to dress up. We did a little last year. this year it is all about us spending time together since he has been gone for 9 months. We are doing Palo dinner and brunch. I think our brunch is seaday at 1030 and dinner is tuesday at 6 or 630

OK I'm a bit behind... what's Pirate Night and when is it (what time, what night, etc?).

We have Palo brunch booked for the 31st at 10:30 and the Atlantis Beach Day for Nassau. DH will go Parasailing at Castaway Cay.

It would be so much fun to have a Meet N Greet for all of us!

Pirate night is done on the 3rd night. It starts off at dinner when the theme at dinner is a pirate theme. You will get bandanas at dinner. after dinner there will be a deck party. not sure what time it starts...i think 945. It has lots of music and then a visit from a few characters. After the party there is a fireworks display (disney is the only cruise line that has been approved to do this.) then after that there is a dessert buffet and still music. Last year they showed Pirates of the caribean 2 afterwards. I hope they play 3 this year on the jumbo (areil tv) tron. HTH!

Thanks Steph. Unfortunately, 9:45 is WAY too late for my kids to stay up so we'll have to miss it. I hope we can see the fireworks from our verandah... :sad1:

Pirates night does sound fun, but I do wish it could start alittle earlier. It will be DS 5th birthday that day, the 30th, so I think I will let him party till he drops !! This will really be our only late night except for MNSSHP on the 26th. We were in WDW for his 3rd bday, and did the trick-or-treat. When he said he was tired we headed back to the hotel (GF) and watched fireworks from there. It is great that the next day is the day at sea, so we can all relax and recouperate.
Any plans brewing for Halloween? I know there is trick-or-treat onboard, but any DIS plans ? I like to plan and be prepared !!

Just a example for Halloween. Last year we all did a small treat bag for all the kids in our DIS group. We put candy and small halloween theme toys (like from oriental trade). then we all met at the mickey pool prior to the DCL ToT, lined the kids up and we dropped the goodie bags in there ToT bags.

I like the idea of getting together prior to the on board t-o-t , or something like that. I would think trying to go from statroom to stateroom would be hard. Plus I want to be w/ DS too not stuck in cabin. How would we know the # of children? I wouldn't want to be short supplies and I don't want to have to drag alot of stuff back home.

Also, I have read about people giving gifts to CM who work in the oceaneers club, since you don't tip them. Has anyone ever done that on a 4 night cruise, or is that more of a 7 night thing. If so, could use some ideas...

Ok, here is what we did last year. About this time we all posted how many kids were going. Keep in mind that more may pop up. We bought enough for 40 kids. However what i had left i gave to our stateroom host. Just left it on the bed for them and told them on a little note that it was for them and to have a happy halloween. gave extra to the kids too. If ya want just PM me and i can keep everyone posted on the numbers. I did magnets for everyone last year here is a sample of one. I am going to so me one this year but i have not worked it up yet. I will post it when done and if anyone wants one all you have to do is pay 5 to help on the cost of mag and ink. thanks steph

That's a cute idea! How exactly does the cruise ToT work?
I am not sure on how the DCL ToT works. We do not have any kids and i did not go with my sister to take my nieces around. I think they give you a map and you have to follow it. I think they got a movie at the end, VCR tape of a Hephalumps movie is what that got i think last year

Here is a picture of our trick or treaters from DISboard last year

So if we do this, are we doing candy or $1 Halloween type toys? I'd rather not do candy for several reasons: DS is too young for most candy still (I don't even like DD to eat too much if I can help it) and DS has severe multiple food allergies and probably wouldn't be able to eat most of it anyway.

If i did it i will probably put soft candy and some other toys... a mixture. I do not have kids but i love to do this. We need a count and an agreement to do this .

I'd be up for the Halloween goodie bag thing. Sounds fun, as long as I can keep them simple! I'd rather do a toy than candy since I'm not wild about DD eating candy (she's hyper enough naturally :yay: ). We just have the 1 kiddo. Cute pic of the group of kids, btw!

Oh, also I love the magnet idea! Keep me posted on that if you do them again. I'd be happy to pay the $5 to cover costs!

In other news, I finally got around to booking our Palo reservation. There weren't too many spots open, but I got it for Night 2, and I'm happy with that. The only other excursion I'm going to book for us is the Dolphin Swim at Nassau, and I'm booking it directly with the Dolphin Encounter company, since DCL doesn't offer this one. I'd much rather do this 1 excursion than 12 others! I'm super excited about it!!!!!!! :woohoo:

I'd be ok with a mixture of toys and candy, as long as DS can participate w/o me having to then take away everything he got! Count us in for 2 kids if everyone else wants to do it! And that pic is way too cute!!!!

I e-mailed Sue Ellen, our Dreams Unlimited agent, asking her for more info on Halloween on the cruise. She sent me her Navigators for the Halloween cruise she went on 2 years ago!! Here's the link to the entire group of them. She wanted me to make sure I knew that activities can change, but I think we can get the general idea of the Halloween festivities! Now, I just need to buy cute ToTing bags for the kids. They used buckets around home last year but I really don't want to shove buckets into our luggage!

And here are the 2 Halloween Ones:

the navigator was great, thanks !! We have early dining so we could do tot and DS could go to oceaneers club party.
count us in for one child too.
I saw some finger puppets on oriental trading I thought were cute.
How about gummie (fun fruit) snacks, you know the little pouches by Betty Crocker or Kelloggs, in the same area as fruit roll ups. They have some Disney, like Little Einsteins, or at Hallowwen last year I think I found some generic type holiday ones.
I haven't followed all the pages so what is up with the magnet deal? Thanks.

I think this is really going to be a fun time !!

so, so far a count of 4 kids,is this right? I think i will buy for 20 kids just to make sure. Of course we can have more to join in the next few weeks. We had a site last year i did up. let me research and find it again. I think it had stuff we did on there.

I will have to see if i can find my last years halloween info and see how DCL compares from year to year!
