Let me start by saying that I have been visiting WDW every year (sometimes more than once per year) since 1999. In 2003 we started bringing our three children. We chose to stay in a cabin at FW and thus began our addiction.
We had a wonderful family vacation and apon returning home discussed how we could continue vacationing at FW as family. That year we bought a used travel trailer and we have never looked back.
At present we have a KZ Durango 2500 that we began storing in Florida two years ago. According to Mapquest from my doorstep to FW is approximately 1880 miles and it is cheaper to store the RV in Florida than to tow it back and forth, and we can also now take more trips to WDW ( because we have to check on the RV).:cool1:
Our next trip is from Oct.23-30 and it will be just myself and DH. Our nest is 2/3 empty with DD20 and DD18 away at university. DS16 will stay with family. I have begun with a tentative plan:
Oct. 23 - DH will pick me up from work at 5:30am ( I am a RN ) and we will drive to Bangor, Maine where our flight departs at 11:40 am, arriving in Orlando at 3:02pm. We will pick up our rental car and head to FW where our RV will hopefully be already on site. ( we have a gentleman who tows it for us when we fly in). I have booked fast passes for Epcot and perhaps we will see Jim Brickman at the Eat to the Beat concert if I have the energy.:worship:

Better eat your Wheaties on arrival day. ;) Sounds like a fun filled vacation.

Sounds like a good schedule...with lots of good food.

It's pretty neat that you have someone who will setup the camper for you, I can't imagine how nice it would be to just show up and my camper was ready to go. With it just being the two of you, maybe the pace will be a little more manageable and relaxing.

I agree, I will have to eat my wheaties. I can't imagine wasting my precious vacation time sleeping. The drive to the airport is about four hours and the flight is a little over three hours so I will try to catch a little shut eye.

Thank you for the kind comments. It is very nice to have the camper set up. DH likes to level the camper himself and hook-up the power and sewer:confused3
Perhaps a little bit of control issues?:stir:
We are looking forward to spending some much needed R and R at the Happiest Place on Earth.

I see you have something scheduled everyday. Try to leave a little time for enjoying the Fort. The pool, the fireworks at the beach, etc. You've been there before so you know what it offers.

Oh, and I'm in and following along too.

Enjoy your vacation. We to go every year at the end of October and have only ever stayed at the cabins. We love them. We are a family of 6. Out next vacation is 10/23-11/3. I look forward to reading about your trip. Maybe I should start a trip report.

You are quite right Ed. We do enjoy sitting outside the RV with a cold beverage experiencing the sights and sounds of FW. We also plan to take some time to view the decorations at the campsites.
Thanks for following along:)

I hope you enjoy your vacation. Do you plan to trick or treat at FW?
Please do a trip report. I enjoy reading trip reports, especially those with a camping twist. It allows me to escape to WDW even while stuck in the far north:wave2:

DH and I last October outside of MK
Now that I seemed to have mastered Photobucket, I just may be able to do a proper trip report

Yes we plan on trick or treating at the fort. The kids are really looking forward to that.

Very cool ... I'll be keeping an eye on this report, as I'll be down at the same time! My parents will have their RV in a preferred campsite, and I'm flying down to meet them for 10/23 - 10/31, doing our annual Food&Wine trip. If you happen through the 100-300 loops, just look for the RV with the huge green Mickey head on the front that has 'BROCKTOON' on it. During many an afternoon break from the parks I'm usually just kicking back outside with a beer or other cold beverage.

#thumbs up

Will do!

We always request the 400 loop. A large wooden Fort Wilderness sign marks our home away from home. Feel free to drop in and say hi. :goodvibes

We're skipping this year, first time in years :( (unless I can pull a surprise visit out of my Sorcerer's hat), so I'll tag along and live vicariously through your trip! We rented a TT last year, had it set up on arrival - so easy! It was our first stay at the Fort.

Doing the single digit dance. I am off until Sunday, and will be busy getting things ready to leave. DD18 will be home to stay with DS16 as it turns out that she has the last week of October off as a study week.
My children were all home for the weekend for Thanksgiving( we celebrate Thanksgiving in October in Canada), and although I had to work we all shared an amazing turkey dinner on Sunday afternoon with extended family.
I have our costumes prepared, shorts and T-shirts set out to pack, and travel sized toiletries ready to pack. Now I just need to give the house a good cleaning, fill the fridge, freezer and cupboards with food; and remember to leave my vehicle with a full tank of gas for DDs.
Looking forward to hearing ' welcome home' :goodvibes
