No clue what to do at the ports yet. I want to make sure we get the most of our time off the boat with so many sea days. Hoping to do some research within the next few weeks. Let me know if you find something fun!Anyone have ideas for what to do in our ports?
Exciting! I can't book until the 7th (silver). How did the selection look? My goal is to get brunch and a few drink tastings.Paid in FUll! Yay! Excursions booked! Yay!
My husband, my adult son and I will be celebrating his (Well-deserved) retirement on this cruise. Some days in the UK prior and then the cruise. So many details to be worked out, but plenty of time. Anyone have any good suggestions for transportation from Heathrow to a Central London hotel? We will have much luggage. Yikes!![]()
The airport will depend on the airline you choose. There are two international airports Gatwick or Heathrow. Both are about 3 hours travel from Southampton. Most people get the train to London and then the train to Southampton.I am considering booking this cruise. What airport would you use for this cruise terminal? Anyone flying out of NY and if so what airline?
Depends on where your hotel is. I usually stay on the Picadilly line (not because of the tube to Heathrow but because it's where family lives, where work is, and/or where my chosen hotel is) and find it more efficient to just take the tube. By the time I take the train and then a taxi, timewise the tube is about the same amount of time while being cheaper and having fewer transfers. The most efficient way of getting to your hotel from Heathrow is to get either The Elizabeth Line Tube or Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station and then take a taxi from the train station to your hotel.
Agree with this also. London is big, so it really depends on your final destination. Also with tube stations, many just have stairs and first timers are not able to haul their luggage on and off the tubes. I used to take Piccadilly Line when I lived in London, however the last few times I took Heathrow Express, due to the shorter travel time and onward connections.Depends on where your hotel is. Thank you for your response. Wow seems like quite a distance from the airport to get to Southampton cruise terminal. The most efficient way of getting to your hotel from Heathrow is to get either The Elizabeth Line Tube or Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station and then take a taxi from the train station to your hotel.
I used to live in London and have flown into Heathrow so many times Ive lost count. Heathrow is about 20 miles from central London and taking a taxi from the airport will be expensive and take approx 2 hours, depending on traffic.
