I booked the October 19, 02 Cruise.
Cat 9- is this good or bad any rooms
that I should make sure I'm not in?
Is it better to upgrade or go down to lower cat.
My kids are 4 & 6 anything special I should try
to get. What other costs are their. Drinks, soda,
meals, excursions??? I would appreciate all the help
anyone is willing to give. Thanks so much, can't wait
to go!

CHECK OUT THIS SITE FOR ROOM INFO.
WWW.DCLTRIBUTE.COM AND WWW.CASTAWAYCLUB.COM
WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THERE ANY ROOMS IN CAT 10 DECK 5 COULD SAVE SOME MONEY AND STILL GET PORTHOLE
AND ONLY PAY FOR AN INSIDE STATEROOM
WHEN U GO TO THE CASTAWAY CLUB SITE LOOK FOR SECRET PORTHOLE ROOMS AND U CAN VIEW THEM
AND U CAN REQUEST A SPECIFIC LOCATION U DONT N HAVE TO TAKE WHAT THEY WANT TO GIVE U..... SO IF U LOOK AT THE LAYOUT OF THE SHIP AND U THINK U LIKE AN AREA ASK FOR IT PETER

Thank you for the site info
I checked them out and tried to change cat
and get secret porthole room but they are sold out
Have you been on cruise, next available cat is cat 5
is it worth price difference?

We had a Cat 9 our first two cruises, and will continue to have one in Dec. I see no problem with them. You are only in them for a short while, but it is nice to be able to see out when you wake up in the morning. Someday we may reserve a room with a balcony, but not for now (spend the savings on other things on the cruise).

Welcome to our club.
Please join our Oct. 19 thread. You'll find it around here somewhere. We have been talking for months and have lots of ideas:D

I am Krista, traveling with David and Clare(3). Our children will probably be in club together.

E-mail or write back any questions, and please join our thread.

My daughter will be 6 on cruise her name is Taylor

We can't decide if we should stay in Cat 9

What do you think
Lauren

Welcome to our cruise, LLight!! Personally, I'd stick with cat. 9 (we have had cat. 9 before and loved it! going with cat. 10 this time - $$) and spend my hard earned cash on other things - the other things do add up a lot quicker than you think!!! It's such a personal choice, some couldn't live without a verandah and some could care less. You really have to think about your own personal preferences and financial situation. Looking forward to seeing you in Oct. no matter what cabin you end up with!

Thanks for the info
Just a few questions if you don't mind?
What other costs are their?
Do you have to pay for dinners without kids
example Palo's
Are the excursions worth it, or is it better to go on own.
I heard soda mug is $35 is this true?
Is tipping included?Anything else I should know about.
Hidden Costs?"

Costs include, photos taken of your family, arcade(if your daughter is into that), soft drinks at non-seated meal times(even buffets as I remember), alcoholic drinks, souveniers, excursions, room service tip only,Palos($5 per person, plus any extra tip you want to leave), tips(can exceed$100)...
Anyone else think of things I have left out.

Palo's is the only dinner/brunch/tea that you have to pay for without your children. I believe it is $5 per person, per meal. Tea and Brunch may be a different cost. You can eat any of your meals without your children as well, if they are in the clubs, etc...

Soda mugs are $35 for 7-night cruise($5 per night). Worth it if you drink a lot of soda, or share. Tea, water, milk, coffee is available free of charge all day on one of the decks.

I have only been on the 3-night before. We don't ever book excursions, would rather do on own, but we are very adventurous and non-nervous travelers. Don't care what happens, just go with the flow type of people. We are going to book the Regatta though, seeing as this is basically the only way to do this, EVER. Other than that, we are probably taxiing it or renting a car on the other islands and just going for it.
A lot of people also do just a little sightseeing and stay on the ship. There is always something going on.

Glad you joined our thread, who did you book through?
Krista

Thanks for all the info!
I can't wait for the cruise!
I booked mine through Forrest Travel

We've done 3 DCL and have always had Cat 9, Deck 2, Aft. I wouldn't consider anywhere else. It's quiet, the elevator and stairs are less used then midship or forward and you're only a few flights of stairs from most of the restaurants. Everyone says you feel more motion in the bottom of the ship, but not us. We had 1 rough day at sea on all our cruises and the only time we didn't feel nauseated was in our cabin.
