Oct. 16-23, 2010 - Bring Back the Magic

I don't see anything on my reservation page either, but I "assume" it's because we booked through a TA. I need to call the TA and ask them if it shows up on our reservation. :upsidedow

I asked DCL this morn about the surcharge and if I was charged or getting a refund, and because I also booked thru a TA, they cant tell. Wed have to get intouch with our respective TAs to find an answer.

Let's see.... he's done bands, dramamine (regular and non-drowsy), salt, ginger, and the patch. he loves teh patch and can even do coasters with it. Still, when he's already spending so much time on a moving vessel, it's just not worth it to put him on a smaller boat. I'm just absolutely thrilled that he can cruise, doesn't matter to me that we avoid small boats for excursions. There's plenty of other stuff we can do. That being said, if you have any other tips to share, that'd be great!!! We're doing a triathlon with a swim in Lake MI in 10 days and swimming in teh waves gets to him too. :sad2: He's not thrilled about using any of his other tricks before a race. Feel so badly for him. I was motion sick once: small boat, handed out bags as we got on because it was rouhg, but I never get sick, so sat faicng backwards and tried to write. I screwed up on so many levels. :rolleyes1 Gave me a hint of what he has to deal with, though.

Ok.I get it from time to time in the cabs of our trucks while trying to type a report or read the MDT for a call info.
Heres the thing with motion/seasickness in general. It basically comes down to a sensory issue. Basically your eyes see 1 thing, and your body feels something else, and a mixed message gets sent.

Couple of things will help if not eliminate it in most people.
1. Make sure your sinus and ears are clear. This can cause a imbalance or a minor infection in your inner ear, that will cause,or make motion/sea sickness worse.
2.Drink plenty of clear fluids. Dehydration can play a big part in SS/MS.
3. For people that are prone to ms on small boats, look at the horizon.try not to look at the bottom of the boat. Keep your mind occupied on something other than the motion.
4.Dont fight the motion.Go with it.
5.Relax. Dont think abut getting sick. You can actually talk yourself into being sick.
6.If at all possible, stand up and move around a little bit. Keep the breeze in your face.

Im walking out the door to Sonnys BBQ and Ill post a few other things later.

The fuel charge does show on our reservation receipt, but now I want the credit! :rotfl:

We are booked through DU and I just called their 888 number and was told that I had to send an email to the Cruise Concierge. :headache:

This is the 1st time we booked through DU and I have to say i'm not thrilled at the fact that they don't send you any of the DCL booking confirmation forms that we get when we book through a real TA. So I don't even know if we were charged the fuel surcharge or not. Let's see how long it takes them to get back to me... :rolleyes1

Just got this (sort of snotty) answer from DU: "Your reservation was booked long after Disney Cruise Lines had stopped adding a fuel supplemental charge to its reservations. Therefore you are not eligible for the credit because you were never charged a fuel supplmental charge."

We booked in January 2010.

Beat me to it. Im going to send them 1 also.Whos your agent? We used DU also.

We're going that night too! YAY! :) No Universal this trip! Disney all week long! LOL! I can't wait!

By the way: Is anyone planning on going to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal as well? We haven't quite made up our minds yet ...

Hi everyone, it's getting closer :cool1: I'm a bit behind on this thread but wanted to pop in to say hi :goodvibes

I also got the Tulum Ruins excursion and am really looking forward to it!

I also got a ticket to MNSSHP for the 24th :thumbsup2

I've never been to the HH nights at Universal, I'm way to jumpy :scared1:

I called our TA (Costco Travel) and they called Disney to check on the Fuel Surcharge credit. They were told (by DCL) that our sailing hasn't been issued any fuel credits . . .I'm like . . .but some people on our sailing have been receiving them :confused3 The lady on the other end kept saying the DCL hasn't issued any credit . . . :headache::headache::headache:

She asked me if I knew who for sure got a credit and she would call Disney back . . .well, of course I don't know any of you personally, so couldn't tell her exactally who or how they received a credit.

NOW I'M FRUSTRATED!!! :headache::sad2:

So what's the deal? We booked way back on the first day this cruise date opened (10/08) so have held this reservations for a LONG time
. . . Any suggestions?

:goodvibes OK, I feel better now . . .but am open to suggestions. We are going to have a WONDERFUL cruise no matter what. Just wish this fuel surcharge thing was straight forward across the board :upsidedow
:flower3:

The credit will appear on our account on the ship if we get it. At this point there is really no way of knowing who if any of us will get it by the time the cruise gets here.

We booked in Oct '08 on our last cruise and transferred it to DU. I don't see anything on my reservation, but I am going to e-mail them tomorrow and see what kind of response I get from them.

I don't even remember. Someone named Tracey sent me the snotty response.

We have Kelsie. Shes been pretty good. We had Tammy last year. She was good also.

Ill let you know what I get back since we booked in Oct of 09.

I can't find it, either, Annichan. :P We can be dumb together. ;)
I don't see a heading called Messages or anything like it.

Okay, still dumb here :):
Well I do see the heading called Messages, but all it says underneath is that I can start booking my excursions and stuff starting August 2nd. And I certainly already knew THAT ;)

Great, seems like there will be a bunch of DISers at the Tulum Ruins excursion! (I just really really hope we will still get two seats on it ... Oh, why can't it be August 2nd already ...)

Okay, so since I have never done this before, I would be happy to go through the process once more before the actual day I will be able to book excursions online. Could somebody please look over my list and tell me if I'm correct?

1. Booking window opens as soon as the day begins, i.e. right on midnight
2. Have to be paid in full to book (CHECK)
3. Doesn't work if I was logged in before, so I have to log out and back in again after midnight
4. Then I login and retrieve my reservation
5. Do I get a list of all bookable activites right there on that page in my account? Or do I need to have them saved previously under "saved activities"?
6. Anything I forgot?

Thanks to all experienced DCL cruisers for your help! :flower3:

1. Booking window opens as soon as the day begins, i.e. right on midnight That's midnight Florida time (EDT)
2. Have to be paid in full to book (CHECK)
3. Doesn't work if I was logged in before, so I have to log out and back in again after midnight. I didn't have to do that. :confused3 I just kept refreshing the page until the shore tours weren't grayed out.
4. Then I login and retrieve my reservation
4a. Then you click on My Cruise Plans
4b. Under 'Reserve Activities' click on 'Excursions'
5. Do I get a list of all bookable activites right there on that page in my account? Yes Or do I need to have them saved previously under "saved activities"? The activities that you have 'saved' are on the list highlighted. You can filter the list as well. You can view by port, activity type or you can just ask it to show you the activities in your 'saved' list
6. Anything I forgot? Don't forget to breathe! Tulum is still available :thumbsup2
7. Repeat process for 'Palo Dining' and 'Spa/Fitness'

Thanks to all experienced DCL cruisers for your help! :flower3:

Good Luck! pixiedust:
