Speaking of acclimatizing - summer has now truly arrived here in Germany, and I am slowly baking here! I caught a cold last weekend, probabyly from one of our guests at the garden party, and I'm still running a bit of a temperature. Can't tell you how unpleasant that it with 95 F outside, and me stuck in the house and supposed to stay in bed or on the couch! It is simply too hot!
((A few words on Northern Germany for those of you interested: Please don't laugh at me complaining about a measly 95 F. It hardly ever gets very hot here in summer. Usually, a great summer to make us happy would have a few months of little rain and temperatures in the high seventies. Therefore, NOBODY has air condition in their homes. Very few offices are air-conditioned either (mine isn't, for example).
Some cars have AC - ours does, but not all of them - so friends who were going to visit us tomorrow have now cancelled as they would have to drive for a couple of hours and they can't do that to their DD2 in a hot car.
So here I am moving about my home at a snails' pace in the semi-dark, all curtains closed, everything slowed down to minimum speed, my cats lying flat on the kitchen tiles wishing for winter. I feel like I'm in the Mediterranean, except for the very minor setback that there's no ocean within walking distance!))

And for the record . . .I'm with Annika
