Yep...the boys COULD go in the room with DD since they will be almost 7, but they can be pests (even without meaning to be) to "big sis". So, connecting rooms probably would be best for everyone.

I have decided that I like the sound of 87 Fridays much better than 600 days. :lol Do you ever feel like you are spending too much time waiting for vacation?

HELP! My children are going to be just. like. me. Yep! They don't stand a chance in heck at being normal...just now, my 5 year olds were dragging their large stuffed lions around on the hardwoods and on the lions' backs were other beanie baby type animals. I asked if they were mopping my floor for me and they said "Noooo mommy! We are playing Disney Cruise Ship."

Oh my goodness. What have I done?

We do lots of smaller "vacations" throughout the year. We typically go to the beach (Gulf Shores, AL.-parents have several condos there) three times a year for 3-4 days at a time. We also have a week long trip to Destin, FL. every year and we try to go away a few times for weekend getaways to places that are really close by. But for some reason, I am a very relaxed traveler when we take those trips...yet when Disney is involved...I get a little obsessive! Anyone else??? I mean, I could sit on the beach for 7 days without doing anything other than turn the pages on my book and feel like I have had a great vacation...yet anything involving Disney puts me into planning overdrive!

I live and work to wait on vacation so............. ............didnt know there was any other way........

I love vacationing and i love researching the vacations as much as possible.

Thee is so much of the world to see that when i get to see it i dont want to stand around wondering what to do next!!!

That si why i research so much.

We have decided to do this cruise for our 10 year anniversay next year. It will be the first cruise for all of us so I need all the help I can get. We haven't booked yet, but probably will this week or next when we get our refund from Uncle Sam. We are going to get a Cat6 room and so far, all I know to ask for is mid-ship, quiet and non-connecting. Anything else? It will be me Marna(just turned 40 and obsessive vacation planner) DH Charlie( 37-very laid back but has to have his adult beverage), DD Lydia(will be 7 at the time and VERY sociable) and DS Miles(will be 5 and is a holy terror except when he's being an angel ).

I haven't read this whole thread and probably won't. It is rather intimidating. If anyone has any advice to offer I am open to suggestions. Also, what the **** is a fish extender?

FISH EXTENDER in SHORT is................

Out side the door of each stateroom is a fish that hangs on the wall.......
And we take a cloth like "mailbox" and hang it on the fish......THUS extending the fish!!!!! And each disser involved in the fun tradition drops some "mail" in each persons fish extender some time during the cruise.

SOme peole give once soem people give more.

Some peole give all the same things.

Some people give things dependant upon who is in the room.

What to give....
candy, gum, pencils, pins, pens, stickers, tatoos, mini alchohol bottles, moon pies, cookies, disneydollars, anythign and everything is acceptable!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. This seems totally insane but I woke up this morning after the "official" go ahead from DH and was so excited I couldn't go back to sleep. It's gonna be a looooong wait til October 2010. I love the idea of the fish extenders but is this something I have to make myself? I am most assuredly not a "crafty" type person.

I'm not counting the trips we will be making to my parents, it's a second home to us LOL
this year we are going to Vancouver to visit our friends and go sailing with them (they have a sailboat) across the border to the Seattle area.
and then we are planning a trip to visit Erika and Steve and go to the festival with them. We are not going there for the spam museum LOL
count me in for a trip to visit Candy!!! I wouldn't miss it

welcome!!! glad you will be joining us!!
a fish extender is a DIS thing LOL ....people join a group such as here and participate in a gift exchange. gifts are not huge or expensive or anything like that. Just little things like pens, pencils notepads, things that represents where you are from etc...there are tons of threads on this on the main cruise boards and some have tons of pictures of what people got and ideas on what to get. It's really fun, we did this on our last cruise this past October and we had I think 25 people on our list and we received TONS of stuff!!
I will be in charge of organizing this as we get a little closer to the date too, so if you have any questions just let me know

you can buy something pre-made. Ours was a foam pirate chest we found at Michael's craft store. Some people used canvas bags, some people bought theirs on ebay ( a bit costly ). You can use anything you want pretty much, as long as it's not too big and that it will hold stuff LOL

WooHoo...I am no longer the "new kid"! Welcome pperfectmom!! I have gotten some ideas about making fish extenders for those of us less crafty folks from a few of the threads about fish extenders here. I actually googled fish extender (the search feature here isn't always the best) and it brought me back here to the DIS for some fabulous ideas!
