Oct. 15, 2006 (4 nights on the "New" Wonder)

Hi everyone.

Jules we fly with Virgin. Im not too bothered for me, though a book is nice to read, on such a long flight, and even these are banded at present. Elouise is very worried they will take her blanket ( she takes everywhere with her) off her, and we have to put in the suitcase. Believe me you wont be chuffed to be sitting near us on the flight with NO blanket. She will howl !!
Im trying not to worry yet, as we have a while before we travel, things change. I cant see them allowing drinks on board in future, but then thats not a prob, if you can buy on board ( or even better on Virgin its included in the price!) We cant buy duty free liquids and take into the USa, which is a bummer, as I was going to get a bottle of Baileys. But in the scheme of things, thats no big deal.

I dont want to worry anyone, but are you concerned with the secuiry at the port? Can you still bring liquids on? Ie Beer. What would stop these mad crazy people blowing up a boat. I know I sound a right "worry wart", however since having Elouise I have become so much more "aware" and "concerned" of things. I know I cant let these people ( animals) rule what we do, but I do still worry over my decisions.

On a lighter note, what dining are you on Mike? We are on late.
This is from Elouise to you all  :) :cheer2: pirate: :3dglasses

Hi

Did John get back to you Linda ? We fly with Virgin too, I will miss a book also, but looking at the news tonight it seems that they are letting you buy a book or a newspaper once you are through security. I dont think they will let up on the liquids that is probably a thing of the past, but when you think of the money Gatwick for example will lose on duty free shopping I think they are bound to relax the rules before we go, they have also said that the airports get a share of whatever is taken at the beyond security shops, so I am sure they will not want to lose out on too much profit. Maybe we will be able to get our duty free on board the plane, and at least Virgin give us free drinks.

Dont be fretting abou the boat Linda we will be fine, all luggage is scanned I believe once you hand it over to the porters before it is delivered to your room. Before you go into the terminal it is like an airport where they do a body scan and have x ray machines for your hand luggage, we will be fine. Last year Ian had a thumb ring on and it sent off the beepy machine, they made him go through and through till they realised what it was, the security is as good as an airport.

No more fretting Linda, promise me, we have exciting times ahead, all of us meeting each other, eating, drinking and parting together we are going to have a ball.

I understand that with Ellie you must worry more, and I am sure that by the time we go, things will have a relaxed a bit and she will be able to have her blanket. I thinks restrictions will remain on liquids and perhaps our electronic items.

Hope everyone has lovely plans for the weekend xx :grouphug:

Jules, thanks for the kind words, words of reason, I know.

Im glad to here the port is quite tight on security. I wasnt sure what to imagine!

Im not toooo bothered about duty frees, though I think the idea of getting it on the plane is a great one. I hope or think that if the restrictions are still "tight" then Virgin might offer to sell an entertainment pack to kids, like when you book a kids meal. so it would have colouring pens and paper etc in. I know they do a free kids pack, however this had one story book in ( very short) one biro, and a small pad of paper. Elouise was bored with it,before we took off! :)

Sorry to be thick, but if we put the cameras- video and digital still. into the hold, will they get broken or damaged? Surely the cold of the hold would affect them?

Anyway off to have a glass of LARGE wine now. :drinking1

Wishing all my GREAT :cheer2: mates, a Fantastic weekend! :grouphug:

Hi

A large glass of wine is a good idea I have had several, I think we need it !! I am a little worried about putting my stuff in the hold too. We bought a Sony Handycam in the Argos sale in January a really good bargain and havent really used it yet, I worry that the cold could damage it, so am a little unsure what to do, I guess we will have to wait and see what happens, I think I would rather leave it at home than have it wrecked, I hope the wine is going doen well ... Cheers xxxx

I know that those of you flying must be worried but I think that everything will be fine. It just takes a little more planning. I think that many restrictions on carry-on items will stay in place for a long while, but most items can be placed in the checked luggage. I think that most electronics will be fine in the hold as long as they are wrapped up secure. My main worry about that would be theaft. Everyone now knows that all valuables must now be placed in checked luggage so theaft of these items may rise. For this reason I would think that the special aproved locks or at least tie wraps should be placed on your luggage. I think that they would let Elouise bring her blanket as long as it is not a large padded quilt or something like that. A small baby blanket like most little ones carry should be considered like a jacket or peice of clothing I would think. I know that security is tighter in the UK than it is here though. I would be sure to check before checking in your luggage. If they say no blanket you would not want to have to throw it out. Also duty free items could be placed in your checked luggage. Also since you now have to check all luggage you might want to look into shipping some things ahead. I don't know what that would cost you and I'm not sure where to ship too since you are both coming in early to enjoy the parks. I am so sorry that a few fanatics have made all of this so difficult and worrisome. But yes we must not let them ruin our vacations. I am confident that we will all have a WONDER-Full time. :goodvibes

I am Lord One Eye !! I did thell them I was a girl and Ian is Lord Dagger Dan

We are on late dining as well, but we may take the kids to eat before our dinner as they will probably not want to wait until that late. We might let them go to the Oceaneer's club or come to dinner with us if they would like. Kind of undecided at the moment.

Hi Jen and Alexis :wave2:
Alexis I hope you find some other teens, to chat to and hang out with.
I do remember being that old, (once)..... and its kind of hard, as you arent a kid, but not fully an adult either :teeth:

hope you all had a great weekend. Ive brought a dress for Elouise for the cruise a really sweet navy blue and white spotty dress. Its very twirly :)

Take care all. L x

Hi Alexis, I hope that some other teens come along for you, it would be nice for you to meet some new friends before we go.
Twirly dress sounds fab, cant wait to see Ellie twirling. We have had a lovely weekend, Ian worked yesterday but was home by 12.30 which was a nice change and then our friends came round last night, we had an Indian and then practiced our blackjack ready for Atlantis, they are going to Las Vegas and then to Orlando so the practice was good for them for Vegas, lots of alcohol was consumed and we had good fun.

Hope you have all had a good one xx

Jules your mates will have a fab time in Vegas, we went for Waynes 30th, we did LA and Vegas. LA was good, but Vegas was AMAZING!!!! we loved it. though of course NEVER expect to WIN there, thats why the hotels are all so grand. :sunny: You may win a bit, but most people loose. We planned how much to take out each night, and then saw it as entertainment money, and when it was gone that was it. The credit cards stayed safely in the hotel room. :thumbsup2

Jules on the other cruise thread for Oct 07, (in case you want to book and join us ;) ) there is a lady called Brenda who collects Hard Rock cafe pins. I said when we go to London I would get one for her. I think there is a Hard rock in Cardiff? is that right? if so I will ask if she eould like one form there, and then IF you would be so kind over the next 14 months ( beofre Oct 07) I was ondering if you would get me one ... of course i will post you a cheque for it and postage. Just thought it would be a cool "gift".

nice to hear Ian got home early :cool1: Wayne is back to work at 6am tomorrow, after 2 weeks off. Yuck !working for Honda the shifts play havoc with all our sleep patterns, as Elouise wants to stay up to see her Dad, and on lates he isnt home till 12 or 1am! Shes such a night owl, but I get soooooo tired!.

HOT GREAT NEWS FOR US JULES

As from tomorrow on the news you can take one small piece of hand lugguage !!!

Yippee,, im sooooooo happy! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Still no liquids or solid waxs like lipgloss etc, but who cares.... Elouise can take her precious blanket, and the whole plane will be thankful for that!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE

ONLY 1 MORE DAY TILL OUR 15TH DANCE :)  :Pinkbounc

Great News Linda Ellie gets her blanket, I am glad to hear still no liquids though. I find that reassuring.

Yes there is a Hard Rock in Cardiff and it is no problem at all for me to pick up a pin, we go there quite regularly.

I will let my friends know what you said about Vegas, they are very excited and cant wait to go, they then do Orlando for ten nights, they are getting very excited about it all now.

Hope everybody had a fab weekend

Hi all, I picked Alie up from Tampa over the weekend. She was supposed to stay another week but decided to come home early. When we picked her up from the airport her luggage had been delayed in Texas so they had to deliver it to Janets house the next morning. But all is well and she is safe at home. I think she had a grand time and her pics are beautiful. Maybe she will pop in later and tell everyone about it. I am glad they are now letting you bring a small carry-on. They are now allowing even a small amount of liquid such as over the counter medicines in the US.

Elouise's dress sounds lovely. Can't wait to see her twirl.

:welcome: ALEXIS :welcome:
