Oct 13, 2012 Fantasy who's going

In your cousins cabin are there three adults or two adults and two kids? I think that we know everyone's age but your aunt and I assume she is not a kid. Right now it is posted as two kids. It could affect the FE gifts for her. :goodvibes

You are correct that it is 3 adults and 1 kid. Thank you for checking. I hadn't even noticed it was wrong.

They aren't doing character breakfasts on the Fantasy, it's too big and the characters wouldn't be able to get to all of the tables in the time allotted for the meal. I do wish that they would do one where you sign up for it since a lot of people don't go, but for now, no such luck.

Thanks for confirming for me. It is a shame as my mom at 66 years old loves the characters. :)

I'm sure I've read this somewhere, but didn't make note of it...and was hoping some of you DCL cruise veterens could tell me what I need to know about dinners? 7 night cruise: how many formal nights? are all other nights semi-dressy? (no shorts etc). Do men have to wear button up shirts? When will pirate night be? I guess technically on pirate night you can wear shorts and put a bandana on your head and call it pirate wear? Can you tell me already which nights are formal/pirate/other already?
Thanks for all your help. My dad is going and he is putting his foot down on wearing a suit. Been retired for 10 years and has no intention of ever wearing a suit by choice again. =) And...along the same lines..if formal night falls on the night you are supposed to eat at Animator's Palate (or any restaurant I guess) and you don't want to dress formally, you just miss dining in that restaurant? (miss the experience?) And we won't know our dining rotation until we board...right? We have a total party of 18...how many tables will they have to split us up into? Sorry for so many questions...DCL dining seems a WHOLE lot different than any other cruise ship dining I've been on.

Hey motraveler, I missed your sign in, so welcome aboard. Where in MO are you guys from? We just got back from a week at Lake of the Ozarks so if you're in that area, I was just in your neighborhood!

For dining, you don't need to dress formally, just no shorts or swim suits. My husband wears dockers and polos and the family may dress nice for formal night, but we don't go all out at all. Like Callymum said, if you're doing Palo or Remy, you need to have a dress shirt and pants, but a tie isn't required at Palo, not sure about Remy.

As for the rest, you'll hit each restaurant twice, although they'll have different menus, but you'll go to them twice, and one 3 times. Your rotation will be on your KTTW card, and yes, with 18, you'll end up split into 2 tables at a minimum!

Since so many of you have cruised Disney before I'd like to ask a question. Does the duty free story carry Sheridan? It is an alcohol made in Ireland and is not exported to the US. They have it on NCL ships and Royal Caribbean. It is in a unique bottle(s) where half is white and half is black/dark brown.

Did some research - This is a copy from the navigator on the Magic and they show Sheridan for $24.95 (of course that was in 2009 and presuming they do have it - the price might be different

If you find DCL no longer carry it let me know-i am sure we can bring a bottle or two over the pond for you.

If you are offering to bring things over the pond would you be able to bring over a bottle of Ballantines 17yr whisky?

I would be happy to, our local Tesco stocks it at £40 for a 70cl bottle. Dont know what you usually pay for a bottle-we are not whisky drinkers so i dont know if thats good or bad?

They don't sell it in the states and I don't know the exchange rate but we expect to pay $50-$60 us. Or somewhere around there, does it look like we are talking about the same number?

Just checked with DH and he says that is the price. It works out to be $68 us. If you would bring it over we would be grateful. :cool1:
I can pay you via paypal before the cruise if you have an account.

Mrs. Stevenson, you make me feel pretty bad about myself with your generosity. I actually have a friend who is sailing NCL out of Boston at the end of this month. He is getting me a couple of bottles. However I didn't want to have to transport it to Florida for Bill. You are definitely a much nicer person than I am.

Thank you for your generous offer.

Wow! Thank you for doing that research. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hi there-sorry for not replying last night-blame the different time zone! Can i make a suggestion? I will have a look on the manchester airport duty free section and see if they carry it-should hopefully be cheaper and this way it doesnt take up our luggage allowance as we would buy it after we have checked our luggage in. Off to have a look and will get back to you. Btw i worked it out to $63 with todays exchange rate-i am happy for you to pay me over there.

Right forget that idea they dont stock it! Thats really surprised me as they carry a huge range. Anyway no problem i will pick you up a bottle on wednesday when i do my shopping and let you know exactly what it cost (son works there and get 10% off some items)
