Oct. 12, 2013 - WONDERful cruise from Galveston

I booked the Holiday Inn at airport for $75 for the 11th and 19th. I used Travelocity top secret hotel tool.

Hi all,

Oct 12-19 on the Wonder will be mine and my children's first cruise (single parent). We are celebrating the completion of my Master's degree. I have a boy, 11 and girl 8. I am trying to get as much information together and am eager to participate in FEs.

I would also love to be added to the Facebook page. My name can be found under: alyse dubroc

Thanks!

Is anyone using Disney transfers? When did their price jump up to $90 instead of $60?! So glad we got my family's transportation squared away with a private company. My family of 4 is driving in but 11 others are flying into IAH.

:)I have created a new email for this cruise. I will be checking daily at disneywonder101213@yahoo.com. Hopefully with final payments coming due the end of the month the room assignments will start appearing.

Alyse, if you (or anyone else) would like to participate in the Fish Exchange (FE) while on the cruise, please be sure to contact Melissa at the email listed above. She will need your DISboards name, name/age of each person in your group, cabin number (if you have it), any allergy info, and an email address. All of your information will only be shared with the members of the smaller group you are assigned to.

Also Alyse- congrats on the masters degree! That's awesome! I have invited you to the FB page via email.

We are using Disney transfers. Guess I should go back and look at prices for it. Didn't realize they had gone up.

You can give me your email or friend request Kate Mickley profile pic is mickey & minnie.

Kate, I sent you a FB friend request. I was wanting to join the FB group and the FE group if it is still open. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise, but we've never done an FE group before and would love to experience it. SInce I'm a novice, I may require some guidance with the whole thing.

Hubby and I are staying up till 11 PM (Texas Time) to put in our reservations for excursions and hopefully reserve Palo. So I need some advise from you repeat cruisers.

1. Will we need to pay for the excursions/Palo in advance or will they be added to our onboard bill?

2. What day is going to be best for Palo Supper. I don't want to miss the shows in the dinning rooms or do it on pirate night. Also we are doing a private food tour in Nassau so i expect we wont have large appetites on that day. So does that mean late in the cruise like Thursday? What do you guys recommend?

3. Any idea which night is formal or semi formal night?

4. Spa? Other cruises I have been on have a special spa treatment each day and its normally at a discount, is it better to wait till the cruise to book a spa treatment?

5. PAT recommendations.. We are staying at a hotel in Texas City so I guess we could rush to the ship in the morning but, we are more get there when we get there kinda people.

5. Ok so this question has nothing to do with making reservations tonight I was just wondering.... I know the ship has a gym but do they offer classes like Spin or Zumba. I Spin 3 times a week and do Zumba twice a week now, and I would like to continue that. I can always jump on an elliptical for 30 min for a little morning cardio / endorphin rush.

Can't wait for tonight (12 hours, 10 minutes and counting)

1. Will we need to pay for the excursions/Palo in advance or will they be added to our onboard bill? No you do not need to pay in advance, but you should cancel excurisions 3 days before the cruise if you change your mind. Palos can be changed on the ship.

2. What day is going to be best for Palo Supper. I don't want to miss the shows in the dinning rooms or do it on pirate night. Also we are doing a private food tour in Nassau so i expect we wont have large appetites on that day. So does that mean late in the cruise like Thursday? What do you guys recommend? this is hard. You could do Palos and not miss the shows That is what we general do

3. Any idea which night is formal or semi formal night? Night 2 is Formal and Night 6 is Semi Formal, both are sea nights

4. Spa? Other cruises I have been on have a special spa treatment each day and its normally at a discount, is it better to wait till the cruise to book a spa treatment? Generally only on port days, given that we don't know what we are doing, I generally don't book spa treatements online ahead of the cruise. Given that there have been times when it has sold out and we have not got a treatments

5. PAT recommendations.. We are staying at a hotel in Texas City so I guess we could rush to the ship in the morning but, we are more get there when we get there kinda people. I really think PAT are for the bigger ships, given that get there when you get there, but get there by at least 1 so you can enjoy the ship and lunch before the DIS meet

Not sure.. but someone else might know

Good luck and hope you get everything you want! See you in 75 days!

I know that they offer spin classes but I'm not sure about Zumba.

Good luck on getting what you want tonight :)

Holiday Inn on JFK Blvd. in Houston. BIL is an employee of Holiday Inns and so he can get an employee deal but we want to be close to the airport so we can get the shuttle to the boat in the morning.

HEY RANDOM QUESTION HERE: I've heard the Disney World is expanding Fantasyland. Does anyone know if Disneyland is doing that as well?

I haven't heard of expansions at Disneyland. Most recent additions are in California Adventure with Carsland.

I got in at $60 - Really ?? $90.... That's just ridiculous!!

Wow.. I had not seen that.. I went out to DCL to look and indeed it has gone to $90/pp roundtrip on the Galveston sailings. We have PIF and are at $60/pp roundtrip.

So glad I didn't wait to add transfers like I have in the past. I really like the idea of DCL handling my bags on the way back, so I don't need to lug them around.

BTW.. I also noticed now that the PIF date has come a lot of rooms have opened up. Prior there were no 10A open and now there are lots of 10A opened up.

BTW.. notice someone from the 9/28 cruise posted they got their GTY room assignment today. 2 cruises before ours.

Got this email from DCL
