Oceaneer's vs. Edge question

Hi all! I'm sure this info is here somewhere but I had a hard time finding it. We are going on our first DCL cruise (well, first cruise!) next Nov for a 5 night on the Magic. Among our party will be my 11-year old DS and another 10-year old boy. Assuming the 10-year old is allowed to go to the Edge, can they go back and forth between the Oceaneer's Club and the Edge? Or do they have to stick with just one?

If I remember correctly the age for the Edge is 11, and will not let any one in under that. My oldest was 10 on our last cruise, and wanted to go to the Edge. We tried every way and sideways to get her in and we're always met with a polite NO!

Yes they can go between the two. My daughter is 11 and does just that.

Whether a 10 y.o. will be allowed to go seems to depend on the cruise. My daughter was 10 the first time she went, a youth activities CM suggested she try it, and her name was already on the list there.

My understanding is that 10 year olds may be allowed in Edge, depending on how many 11-14 year olds are on that particular cruise. We were on the Fantasy in April (over spring break, so tons of kids), and my 10 year old DD was allowed into Edge. We visited the first day and her name was indeed on their list. The CMs there encouraged her to try the Club/Lab first, but I explained that she had gone there on our last cruise the year before and found many of the activities to be too young for her. We were told that she could go to both the Club/Lab and Edge, but she chose to spend time only at Edge. I've read posts from others that have said they were told their kids had to choose one or the other, so your mileage may vary. It seems that some of this is subject to the whims of the CMs you happen to speak with.

On the Wonder last month, DS (11) was able to go back and forth between the Lab and Edge with no problem :thumbsup2

How close to 11 is the 10-year old? I think the closer to 11 they are, the easier it may be to move them up.

we just did our 4th cruise this summer, out just turned 10 year old was really bored in the ocean lab/club, they let her go in the edge, and promised her she could come back in the edge on our next cruise too.

Hi! I am a current CM. Bringing a 10 year old into Edge depends on a number of factors including the number of 11-14 year olds on the cruise, whether the child is mature enough to participate in the Edge programs and having the grown ups sign the form allowing underage children in. We do prefer that children try out their designated space before moving to another, but in the end we want your child to enjoy their cruise too. If your 10 year old cannot go to Edge both boys can go to the Lab. And yes children can move freely back and forth between the two.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family onboard :)
