OBX Ferries

Hello & Merry Christmas everyone,

We're going to take a drive down to the Outer Banks next week... then over to Raleigh. We were considering taking the Hatteras-Okracoke & Okracoke-Swan Quarter ferries... for the experience. We've got plenty of time to kill. Do you think this is a good idea, or should we just drive the whole way?

Not sure about the best way to "get there," but i loved Okracoke for a day trip.

Actually, we're just looking for the experience more than travel time.

We did that exact thing on our way back from the OBX one time. It's a good long trip to Swan Quarter. We enjoyed it very much! However, I would check the weather forecast. If it's so cold that you have to sit in your car it won't be very enjoyable.
