i'm about to throw a clot and i know most of you will blame me for my own lack of knowledge ... learned i can't trust the mouse...

however, both my TA and i were blindsided ---
can't believe Disney would charge cat #6 Verandah view rate and not advise of obstruction --- --- even at broadway shows, and sporting events you'll be told you have an obstructed seat --- .

on 7/22 was given 6134, they took my full pmt, told my TA there were no other CAT 6 available. the end.

another 8/31 cruiser noticed my cabin # and told me about the string here on DIS boards.

i call disney --- oh, sorry, guess we didn't tell your TA , it's OBSTRUCTED! (they were oh so happy to collect $3,000 and pat me on the head a month ago without a blink)

now AMAZING, 4 other cabins opened up --- 6150,6148,6650,6652 ---
any words of wisdom?
evidently i'm being taken to the cleaners --- and have no clean shirts to show for it ...

I work pt as a travel agent. I know that Cabins can become available as people Cancel, payments are not made, or a hold is lost on them. Travel Agents are able to hold cabins until deposits are made, Many times for 3-10 days depending on the cruise lines.
You were told that there were no other cat 6. cabins available. That can change hour to hour, day to day. When I booked my last cruise there were quickly no cat. 5's, 6's or 7's available. But when I checked again between 1-2 months of our sailing many had opened up.
This may well have been the last cabin assigned. Your agent can check that on-line as well as calling disney.

You can call DCL and tell them that you want one of the other cabins that are available. I switch cabins for passengers all of the time.

As Patty stated, cabin availability changes all the time, as people release holds on previous reservations or they cancel. I don't believe anyone is trying to take you to the cleaners at all. :)

Any of the other four staterooms will be great for you.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

Hazmat...I hope you changed your room before those rooms are gone and you're stuck with 6134.

FYI, those other four staterooms have the solid metal verandahs as opposed to plexiglass. Personally I like the metal verandahs (6652 used to be my favorite stateroom before I discovered 5650), and I love being that far aft, but not everyone feels the same way. If you want to see photos of the verandah types, I have them on my website at www.castawayclub.com

WE'RE MOVED!!!!

we're in 6652 now ---- for 8/31 MAGIC western (i had looked @ your pic barb/INK --- thanks!)

i do understand that rooms come and go, cancellations happen, people change CATEGORIES, BUT i RESENT not being told about ANY obstruction upon FULL PAYMENT! ( i got no discounts, no breaks since we booked less than 60 days out)

WDW tells you the view from your room is a PARKING LOT, why wouldn't DCL be HONEST about 6634 and 6134????

i fully expected for my DH and I to be able to SIT out on a verandah --- just like the pics ----

and, for those NOT internet savvy, sadly they are just OUT OF LUCK ---- really NOT RIGHT.

you wouldn't sell me a broadway show ticket for an obstructed seat, why would DISNEY not advise me ...

and i will write DIS as such

May I ask why you prefer the metal railing? Is it just the location of the cabins, or is there some other reason? Just curious.

Fawn,
I LOVE the location of those rooms, particularly 5650. It is even more secluded than 6652, and I like the fact that you get some engine noise. I also like the fact that the verandah is a little bigger than normal...I managed to fit one of those lounge chairs out there in 5650 on our 7-day. It was heaven! The metal verandah just comes with the package...I don't have a preference for the plexiglass because they usually have lots of salt spray on them anyway. I don't mind standing up to look at the ocean. As a matter of fact, hubby and I spend a lot of time leaning on the rail and staring at the water or the sky. I would take 5650 over a Cat. 5 or even a 4 (hubby would disagree with me about the Cat. 4 tho').
