Obession Has Got To Go

I've become obssessed (sp?) with winning room awards.

A buddy of mine noted to me one day that I could make a cool splash ride with the extensive amount of briars I had. Then I had about 50. I then formed a plan with a great group of friends in obtaining more, which in the end, mounted us 100 prince phillip briar stones total. I then put together the "drop" of the attraction and presented it to all the friends who helped gather the stones. They flipped out and saw I was onto something and from there on, were willing to pretty much build how I wanted them to.. at least track wise.

I knew the ride pretty well being an avid WDW fanatic, but thankfully, one of the builders presented a sweet room order list that worked perfectly. One by one we eached put together a room using one person's list, one person's track design, and everbody's.. imagineering skills. What we accomplished blew our minds as we read about it being worth a 30 person wait. We were like, "Aww yeah, main page here we come". And what happened there? VMK graced us with the first "BGameR" award to come to the game. The rest of the team got no recognition except by the riders that clicked the "i" at the bottom of the screen. It was a bitter sweet feeling, but all in all, an amazing experience for all of us that's one of a kind.

Where am I going with all this? I have no idea. But let it be an apology to VMK for all the wrong I've said about them, as they've done so much for many me personally already. You may not realize it, but you fulfill many Walt-like dreams for us Disney fanatics that I'm sure he would have no other way.

Cheryl,

Tell your son that me(14 years old) traded inferno for golden ears because I was stupied1 I fell for those ears!!!!!! GARSH....

I cry sometimes at night because I miss the game so much..... it hurts me.

I'm sorry for your son and miracles do happen!

Yea i agree bat magic rules!! and me i dont really care for inferno, yes it would be cool and all but it's not worth that. I was so into vmk once my mom banned me from vmk not vmk i should be a CL by now because i've been on so long! LOL!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I personally think that VMK is a great game. It's a safe environment, it's lots of fun, and by golly, it's Disney! But when it comes to the point when you're crying or getting angry over it, it's time for a break. After the whole Bat Magic/Everest Competition weekend, I had to take a little hiatus from VMK to ease the temporary obsession and frustration. It really can get to you. Someone pointed out that VMK is like a drug, and I agree. Just like any drug, it's okay and possibly helpful in small portions, but when you overdose on it and get addicted to it, watch out!

Anyway, just my few cents.

Don't miss the other reason. Kids who might not be accepted as well "outside" get acceptance in VMK.

It might not be inferno, at all.

BluEyedBoi I believe has hit the nail on the head and that is why I am so nice to the kids in the game. I have many kids on my friends list and I am always sure to be courteous and very giving to them. I dont know what kind of life they have outside the game, perhaps they are made fun of at school, or dont have any friends, or have a bad home life. Perhaps they come to vmk to escape the world they live in or because they feel like somebody in the game. If I can make one kid happy for even just a few minutes.....

Please try to explain to your son that most of us, even those who have been around since day 1 still do not have inferno. And even though he gets discouraged about never winning the games, his time will come. And think how happy he will be when that day finally does come. I would try to persuade him not to put so much emphasis on obtaining one pin but to play the game for the fun and friends that are there. try out different member games rooms, i have seen some that give excellent prizes and are tons of fun. And most importantly, good things come to those that wait, his time will come. He is one determined boy. LOL

Hi,
Thanks to all for your kind words and sometimes interesting points of view.
for an update:
Things have calmed down around here. We have had some nice talks. There are some VERY great people on these boards and you know who you are.
I hope things stay this good for him and he continues to know it is a game and that there is still good in people out there.

He even watched the Oscars with me last night. I was shocked. He said there was nothing much going on on VMK but I think he wanted to watch tv with me. At least I can hope that is why :)

He will be allowed to continue to play but he is back in school so that should help. I told him no more I can't go out to eat with you because i have to wait in line behind 45 people and stare at a black screen all night. There is no fun in that.

Thanks once again to everyone and thier caring comments.
Cheryl

I have to admit.. this game is very addicting. I have been playing it since last year.. When I got grounded and couldn't use the computer I cried. And whenever something bad happens I cry (not really bad crying like BOOHOO or anything but I was EXTREMELY SAD) :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:      O0h well.. I got over it.. (ev

My point is this game is extremely addicting

Glad things are better for him and he is enjoying VMK again. It can be a lot of fun but, like most things, moderation is the key. It is really a nice way for parents and young ones to "play" together so it sounds like things are much better for you'all.
