Obama's Speech

Better yet, let's ask yours.

Oh no, that would be an invasion of privacy and one's religious freedom. ;)

Btw, the one thing Jesus really did rail against was hypocrisy. There's a lesson there that hasn't been learned by far too many.

Because sex is evil and dirty while war is to be exalted and revered? And after all 70 million is nuttin compared to what's been wasted in Iraq, right? ;)

No because denying someone there day in court (Paula Jones) because he lied under oath. He lied about Paula Jones, he lied about Monica and it was necessary to establish a pattern. He settled out of court.

Amen!

When you've learned it, pass it along to your friends.

Because sex is evil and dirty ...

It cost Spitzer his job. Even the news (ABC's Brian Ross) said he was brought down by sex completely skipping over the fact interstate prostitution is illegal.

Did you see Ben Stein's commentary about this on CBS Morning? It was an interesting take on the situation regarding representation by an unelected governor. Stein says, "Elections are a lot more important than call girls." Hmmm...

Ah, it's a matter of perspective. Gottcha! :thumbsup2

Finally, something we agree on!

As to the "gotcha", you swine. Be quiet and stop telling the world our private business. :lmao:

Did Obama's preacher arrange the prostitutes for Spitzer? I am too lazy to figure out how this connects tothe thread.:lmao: :rotfl2:

(by the way, I think Spiter diserves whatever is legally coming to him)

Oh, it's veered off course a couple of times (as is with many DIS threads). It comes with the territory. :goodvibes

I think that the thing that amazes me the most out of all of this is how naive Obama and his wife and apparently all of his advisors were. Obama knew what a hateful person his minister was. If, as many of the libs have said, he felt like Wright was more like family than just a pastor, I still feel like he could have handled it differently considering that he is running for the POTUS. He should have said, "Dude, I love you and I understand why you might have some extreme views, but you have to know that being a part of these discussions could hurt my political career. I think that I need to distance myself from you at least publicly (as a member of the church)."

But he didn't and we all have to decide why we think that is. Personally, I believe he didn't leave because he believes the message and it wasn't at all shocking or offensive to him. :confused3 Obviously, others feel differently. I guess we'll just have to see what the public as a whole believes (if he gets the nomination). I know that I was talking to a few of my neighbors today. They are moderates that usually vote Democrat and voted for Obama in the primary. They now have changed their opinion and wish that they could go back and change their vote. Perhaps their opinion will change again before November, but based on their comments I think it is highly unlikely.

You can add me that equation also, my husband, my friends, and family who are working class "moderate" democrats. We no longer support Obama even though we voted for him. We're all just shocked beyond anything. Obama's premise was to not look at color, that's what he's stated, and this, and also his wife's statement last month, has shown that he may not be the person he has originally presented to us. I just really can't believe that he may not believe the things his Pastor states, it is just too hard to, it makes no sense that he would have stayed in that church, had this man marry him and baptise his children. You go to spiritual leaders who have similar values and morals as you do. I liked some things in his speech particularly about him saying where the Pastor was wrong in that we have "moved on" and are moving forward but not sure I believe him. Obviously when we are voting for an African American and a woman as Presidential candidates, we are trying to move on, this was just incredible to us, wonderful, but birds of a feather, there is absolutely no way to get around it. You don't have a spiritual advisor that has such absolutely radical, vicious, hateful, racist ideas. I wish I felt differently. I thought he would have changed this country for the better, brought us all together. I no longer feel that way. Maybe something will change but I don't know.
