I saw that too...I love Rachel Maddow!!!

I agree, and I know it's a bit off topic, but don't you think she is just beautiful. Her eyes are gorgeous! My DH doesn't see it (I thik it's the short hair he doesn't like) but I think she's stunning. And she's smart to boot!!

How true...it really bothers me how cons will cheer on Hillary supporters and wish them luck...and they take it as being nice. Come on, members of the"vast right wing conspiracy" have love in their hearts for Hill....pleeeeeeease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: What kind of kool aid do they drink????

Some of my best friends are Republicans ;)

I think the courtessy of a congratulatory remark is rarely inappropriate. Nor is it wrong for people outside the party to have a preference for who wins our primary. I certainly had a preference in their primary and spoke it loud and clear: Anyone but Romeny.

In all fairness, this not voting for the other candidate really took off when Hillary started comparing herself to McCain and basically saying if you can't have me, McCain is your next best choice. Obama has done/said anything close to that. And the result is that Hillary supporters are much more likley say they will vote for McCain.
That may be true but I can also understand the anger that some feel. On both sides! It's the supporters that are causing most of the bad feelings IMO.

But it is what it is. Where do we go from here? How do we soothe the hard feelings?

Me too...i though lately the make up department put more make up on her eyes!!! She is pretty and a smarty...I like that combo!!!

I love Rachel, she's like a voice of reason.... she should be smart, she's a Rhode's Scholar, no lie....

That's okay. If any poster on the Dis thinks for a moment that any con thread poster has any iota of respect for any Democratic candidate, then they are truly drinking kool-aid, and perhaps smoking something too.
Actually I think that kool-aid is in short supply nowadays - there seems to be a HUGE demand for it for some reason. ;)

Personally, I just don't comment. I won't accuse anyone of anything but then again I won't let down my guard.

Sorry for the invasion! I wanted to bring up that one concern though.

People should remind themselves what is really important. The Supreme Court for example. Unless a Democrat truly feels that the other candidate is truly evil and only wants to harm our country, then to not vote for them is childish, short-sighted, and just plain stupid IMO.

I didn't mean after she won...cons were coming on the Hillary thread giving their support and well wishes yesterday before the results...okay cons can say congratulations after, but to think conservatives want Hillary to be elected to anything is a joke. (ha-ha) I had my opinins about who should win the rep nominee, but I the reasons I would pick one republican over another would be strategic for the democratic party, so the reps would get a weak candidate. Do you think the cons really would like Hillary to win or do you maybe think they want the easiest candidate to attack and beat in November...just think about he motives behind their support.

Yes, but that is out of hate for Obama, not love for Hillary.

Exactly and let's not forget "Operation Chaos".

The right to vote has been paid for in American blood but some drugged out radio gasbag uses that vote to skew Democratic results and his dittoheads think it's wonderful.

Tells you what kind of people you're dealing with and how much respect they have for this country's institutions.

One more thing before I go....

I won't speak for the Cons here but there are actually Cons out there that believe that Hillary is the lesser of Democratic evils. In spite of policies being similar, the feeling is that Obama is way more Liberal and too inexperiences (that again). I claim no scientific knowledge of this but I live in a heavily Republican state and hear this stuff a lot.

It's not necessarily all about getting the perceived weaker candidate to win even though I'm sure that's a factor for many. Personally I think that either Democrat would win so it's a moot point.

Sometimes you don't soothe those hard feelings, sorry... sometimes it cannot be done, and there are people on both sides of this fence who feel the same way. My DH & I are Independents, have always been Independent and will always be Independent, we don't tow a party line. Having said that I have voted Democratic since Reagan, and with rare exception he has always voted Republican. This time we are both voting for Obama. If Obama doesn't get the nom, there is no way in Hade's my DH will vote for HRC, the earth would have to open up and seize him first. That's how strongly he feels about it. When both candidates are either jokingly or seriously talking about nuking Iran that's of concern to me. Hillary started out as the head of the Republican party at her college, and I think that's where she should have stayed. She isn't a new voice to the party, if she was so grand with 35 years of experience why is there no health plan, why support Nafta and say you didn't? She had 8 years to get healthcare through, but no, she tried once, failed and quit... Watching her this election? I'm sorry, I don't think she's worthy of my vote, period. I think there are a lot of people on both sides saying the same thing, it is a bridge that cannot be put back together.

He's claiming he got 120,000 people to cross over, HRC won by 194K votes according to the PA state website.... we shall see how many people cross back over in coming weeks.

To be frank, that kind of thinking won't get us anywhere. I won't argue specifics but I see many of those things differently and I also see things I dislike about Obama. However I will not undermine the overall goal which IMO is to get the Republicans out of office. That matters more than anything but of course YMMV.

Now I'm really leaving....really! :)

Todays editorial from the New York Times (the NY paper that once endorsed Hillary Clinton) :

The Low Road to Victory

read this this morning. I find the fact that it's the NY Times Editorial Board who penned this opinion, the same group who actually endorsed Hillary over Obama, particularly interesting. IMO, for the good of the party, the NC/IN primaries can't come soon enough...

This is my point exactly...this primary season has really damaged us as a party...hard feelings on both sides...how does this heal in time to elect a democrat, I have no idea???? My husband is in agreement with yours Chris...he went from saying he would have to vote dem in November a few months ago, to if it's not Obama I am either writing him in or using my vote as a protest. I believe many others will come to the same conclusion over the next few months in which we will continue to endure this BS.

OKLAHOMA GOVERNOR HENRY ENDORSES OBAMA

KLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry endorsed Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination Wednesday, calling him an inspirational leader who can unite the country.

"I believe Senator Obama is uniquely positioned to unite our nation and move beyond the divisiveness and partisan skirmishes that too often characterize politics as usual in Washington," Henry said early Wednesday in a statement released by the Obama press office in Chicago.

The endorsement one day after the Pennsylvania primary gave Obama the official support of three of the state's 10 superdelegates, while Clinton has the backing of one superdelegate. The rest are uncommitted.

Henry, a moderate Democrat in a Republican-trending state, said he had worked hard to build a consensus across party lines on such issues as education, job creation and health care and "that is why I am so enthusiastic about Barack Obama's candidacy."

"Senator Obama understands that the serious concerns facing average Americans must transcend partisan games if we are to rise to the challenges of today and tomorrow. He is a strong, committed and inspirational leader, ideally suited to bring together Democrats, independents and Republicans," Henry said.

He said Obama recognizes no single group or party has a monopoly on good ideas. "He will be a leader for all Americans, and I have every confidence that he will be a tremendous president."

Obama said he was proud of Henry's support "as we continue to build our grass-roots movement for change." He said Henry had "achieved real results" as a consensus builder himself in Oklahoma.

"We're fortunate to have Governor Henry's backing, and I look forward to working with him in the months ahead to bring about real change not just for Oklahomans, but all Americans," Obama said.

Henry became the first major Democratic elected official from Oklahoma to endorse Obama. The state's only Democratic congressman, Rep. Dan Boren, remains uncommitted as a superdelegate, although his father, David Boren, has endorsed the Illinois senator. David Boren is a former governor and senator.

The 44-year-old governor's endorsement came despite Obama getting only 31 percent of the Democratic primary vote in Oklahoma's Democratic primary on Feb. 5 against Hillary Rodham Clinton, who got 55 percent.

Paul Sund, a spokesman for Henry, said the governor had spoken to Obama "several times" in the last couple of months.

Henry easily won a second term as governor in 2006 against former Republican Rep. Ernest J. Istook.

It will be difficult for him to deliver Oklahoma to the Democratic nominee, however. Democrats still have a majority of registered voters, but the state has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1964.

Republicans have a majority in the state House of Representatives and are tied with Democrats in the Senate.

I just asked this on the Hillary thread, and I'll ask a variation of the same question here.

I understand the anger at the way Hillary has campaigned, and I understand her shortcomings..but is she REALLY worse than McCain??

It's not even a close call.

I am a firm supporter of Obama, but if Clinton wins I will skip to the polls on election day a cheerfully vote for the Democratic nominee.

Fade in: Hillary's latest ad featuring Osama bin Ladin.
Voiceover: The Hillary Clinton rule of politics is that you should vote for her out of fear. We'd like you to see a few people that disagree with that strategy.

Show brief clips of:

FDR - "The only thing we have to fear is...fear itself."
Eleanor Roosevelt - "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."

Voiceover: But Barack Obama believes that this former president probably said it best.
Clip: Bill Clinton saying, "Now one of Clinton’s laws of politics is this: If one candidate’s trying to scare you and the other one’s trying to get you to think...if one candidate’s appealing to your fears and the other one’s appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope."

Barack: "I'm Barack Obama, and not only do I approve this message, I couldn't have said it better myself."

Revy...someone needs to add you to the marketing payroll. This concept would be genius. Send it in.
