Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

I agree, but the fact that Obama had to denounce Wright's words, it will be interesting to see what the Clintons do. I haven't been able to find the most recent audioclip online, but the guy is Pastor Manning from Harlem and he was screaming at his congregation that they were 'maggots' for supporting Obama!

I'm not getting into it, because I think it's a bad situation for both sides. Asking a candidate to be responsible for denouncing stuff left and right that their endorsers say just drives them off message and allows McCain to continue to make ignorant statements about the Middle East that go completely unchallenged.

:thumbsup2

Maybe they should just both make a blanket repudiation/rejection/denouncement statement that covers every controversial remarks made by others in their name and leave it at that.

Both candidates are going down. Hillary's favorable numbers have not gone up since pastor-gate --McCain's has. I hope posting on the Obama hate threads makes Hillary supporters feel good for the moment, because that is all they are going to get out of this scandal.

And for those that will not vote for anyone but Hillary-if Obama gets the nomination and loses to McCain-the continuation of the war, the continued ruination of the economy and the continued erosion of the Constitution will be on their hands.

Polls are just a snapshot...These were taken during the pastor controversy (actually I have to admit it's turning me off religion and I used to enjoy church...) and before McCain needed Lieberman to assist him with Middle East politics. I do understand the Hillary supporters. There wasn't supposed to be any contest for the nomination, and Obama is annoying to them. It's too bad the two sides can't come together. The DNC should really step in...but I'm afraid they won't.

That's absolutely right, but drives to the point of the contradiction. It doesn't matter what either of the candidates pastors have said, it only matter's what Obama's pastor has said, and in only a few clips. It's okay to give the other two candidates a free ride. That's what's been done, that's fine, it's politics as usual, I totally get that, but it still does NOT make it okay by me. Everyone shouting from the rooftops they've never heard it in their church, yeh, I don't believe it. I grew up in a household where the church said very controversial things and these things were shouted from the rooftops.

I agree with Chobie, let them both make a blanket repudiation/rejection/denouncement statement that covers every controversial remarks or endorsements made by others in their name and leave it at that.

This will result in nothing but McCain getting elected and I don't for one second believe that's a good idea... In my book there's best, okay, and worse, and he's definitely worse....

I totally agree. I worry about what will happen whenever one gets the nomination.
I'm not terribly concerned about the polls right now. They blow every which way and will continue to do so depending on the scoop of the week. What concerns me is the Dem on Dem ugliness. It needs to stop. If we don't put a Dem in the White House after all the mess of the past 8 years--well, then, I give up.

I'm not worried about the polls unless it shows a consistent weekly decline - we all knew he'd drop in the polls after Pastor-gate but I think he has handled this situtation extremely well and will come out of it stronger than ever.

I believe Fox was running it this morning. However, since I have been on record from the beginning that I do not hold Obama accountable for Pastor Wright, I also do not hold the Clintons accountable for this preacher.

Agreed - although I'm curious the reaction of those Hillary supporters who were deriding the Pastor's remarks as if they were Obama's own.

Anyone getting the GOP and McCain advertisement banners on this thread. They just popped up for me, I usually dont look at the ads but it is kinda funny. McCain ad on the Obama thread.

Unless they were the minority that may have seen it on Fox, it hasn't been anywhere that I've seen... I did some digging and found it, but they're going to say the same thing, well, she can't help what some pastor says on her behalf....

Same old same old...

Yes, even the liberal thread is getting it :sad2: I guess since there's no Support McCain thread they had to put it somewhere...

Yep, we can't escape it! :lmao:

The media will be salivating at the next scandal to break, regardless of its an actual scandal or not. Fox just loves to put anything anti-Democrats out there.

There will probably be ten scandals between now and June never mind now and November...

Funny thing about this latest pastor is, Fox took it down, so they can't be all that against the Democrat's, or some of them at least.

I just wonder when the media is going to stop showing Rev Wright. It was on MSNBC again, because some school is going to honor Wright. Talk about beating a dead horse. But they seem to be giving McCain a pass on his remarks. I just wish I had more confidence in peoples abilities to see past all the distractions and pay attention to what is really important.

It is nice to read a thread that actually talks about real issues.

There's a lot of road between now and Nov-you're right. I do think Obama has an advantage in that he understands the nomination and national election will be hard work, period. He's never expected the nomination will be handed to him on a silver platter.

This is VERY true... he was never expected to get this far, he knows that, obviously he had high hopes, whereas every news media outlet expected this thing would have been wrapped up Super Tuesday.

Holy CRAP it was a McCain Republican Aid that circulated the Wright sermons... this is just now breaking, being reported on CNN & Politico

There was no need to leak them, they've been on tape and available for years.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonat...irculates_ObamaWright_video_is_suspended.html

"An aide to John McCain was suspended from the campaign today for blasting out an inflammatory video that raises questions about Barack Obama's patriotism.

Soren Dayton, who works in McCain's political department, sent out the YouTube link of "Is Obama Wright?" on twitter at 12:31 today with the tag, "Good video on Obama and Wright." It has since been taken down."....
...."The video Dayton sent, which includes images of Malcolm X, the black Olympians raising their hands in the black power salute and the rap song "Fight the Power," has been rapidly spreading in political circles this week."
