We own at SS and was wondering if Oahu will be a difficult reservation in the summer....we own Marriott and thought maybe we should use that instead...what is the consensus on the difficulty of getting into that resort?

By summer of 2012, Phaes 2 of Aulani will be open so there will be more villas available then when it's opened in September of 2011.

We won't know for sure until we can get a sense of how sales are going.

I didn't want to find out so I bought in to Aulani already.

As PP said, no sense in trying to guess. IF I felt we could afford the airfare even every 2 years I'd buy there but I know we can't so it's purely down to wait and see. I'm sure initially will be WAY harder to get in w/o owning there, but beyond the first few years, who knows. No sense in worrying. ;)

If your comparing getting a DVC reservation vs your chances of getting in to the Marriott Ko'Olina, it really depends. Below are my guesses.

Chance of Getting DVC day 1 7 months out very good to get something, maybe less so for better views.

Chances of getting a trade into the Marriott using weeks totally dependent on WHAT and what week you're trading and assumes depositing at least 12 months out and searching with II at least 13 months before the week you want. I also assume comparing before the II flexchange window opens. The chance should be good to very good for a strong trader and poor to almost non existence for a weak trader with a lot of in between possibilities.

For MVCD new points system I'd say the chances of getting a unit is as good, maybe better, than that of getting DVC but would need to be reserved at 13 months out for those that can do so (Premier & Premier Plus members).

Again, just my own guesses.
