I know most everyone on these boards are great fans of the DCL and Disney is a Family oriented ship, which is why we chose it, and you can tell by my sig that our family loved it!! We will probably go again in the future, however my DH and myself noticed that after dinner (we had the early seating) our DD 4 would beg to go to the kids club and we would venture off and cruise the decks. What we noticed was that there wasn't a soul in site!! I thought maybe there would be some live music on deck by the adult area or something!! I know there are a lot of activities go on, like character meetings or games like "match you mate" etc.... but we were suprised by how deserted the decks were when the sun went down. My DH and I by far are not wild party'rs; but we thought there would be some action at evening on deck. Is this how it usually is? For all you active cruisers, what are the other cruise line like?

Thanks!!

Kim

I've seen it like this, too. I think it's because Disney does such a great job of entertaining you and there are things going on, that people flock to them. They are all inside being entertained. Just a thought...

Actually, Pippy, I think your question makes sense. Dancing outside to soft music.....under a blanket of stars. That's pretty romantic. It would be another among several choices of entertainment. Great idea.

I would love the idea of dancing under the stars to soft music. It would be nice to have some activities up on deck at night because it is so beautiful and peaceful at night. The only activity at night that I can remember that was up on the deck was the dessert buffet.

I completely agree....I found that even after the Goofy deck partys, it would clear out right after that! I was with a big group so we would stay, but we thought it was great to have the whole deck to ourselves!

On the 7 night, they do offer dancing with a music combo around the adult pool. It's very nice. They have a sailaway party when you leave Key West in the evening & of course the tropical party.

Other than that, the upper decks are very quiet, nice for a stroll...

DH and I cruised on Royal Caribbean's Nordic Empress to Bermuda this past summer and many nights we found the pool deck almost empty, once the sun went down. Although, in the summer, that was later in the evening, around 10pm, after our second-sitting dinner. Unless there was a deck party or midnight pool-side buffet going on, there weren't many people up there just walking around and enjoying the night, like we were. We got some great photos though :)

Maybe they don't plan a lot of activitys on deck at night so that people who want to get away from the crowd and planned stuff can find a peacful spot to sit and relax. :D

Almost every cruise I've been on (11 and counting) has had some kind of outdoor music/party/entertainment at least 4 or 5 nights of the cruise. NCL, RCI, Dolphin, CCL all have some sorts of something. Of course depends on the cruise and the line. NCL and Dolphin for sure had great evening calypso/reggae bands outside at the outdoor bar areas. Some of the greatest cruise experiences have been sitting out in the warm breeze staring at zillions of stars and listening to a little calypso with a cocktail in my hand and my sweetie by my side! AH BLISSSSSSSSS......

We're going on the Magic March '04. I would have hoped DCL had SOMETHING like this. I'm suprised they don't. I will be very disappointed if we need to spend all of our evenings indoors while in the Caribbean, for our entertainment.

SAY IT AINT SO!!!!!!!

my absolute favorite activity on the ship is walking around on the deserted decks.....it's so wonderfully peaceful.....here you are on a ship with 2,700 passengers and you feel like you're the only people on the ship....that's heaven to me...

my other absolute favorite thing on the ship is sitting out on my verandah watching the water go by...

now if only i could win the lotto so that i could buy the Wonder for my very own....wow.....but for now, the deserted decks make me feel like it's my very own...

i love that late nite early morning walks under the stars. i figure thats the disney way to keep all happy.just do stuff that will get them to spend a dollar here and a dollar there. it all adds up. just look back at you bills LOL. have fun i need to just read for a few days

Thanks for all of your input. :D Yes I think it would be nice to have LIVE music every night by the adult pool so you can enjoy the beautiful warm weather under the stars. I did know about the key west sail away party, must of missed the tropical party:confused: and yes kycruise crazy, i'm still in shock over our stateroom bill:hyper: but being outside on a warm tropical night socializing etc...it just kind of completes the package.:wave2:
