Hi;

Quick question as we ponder the DVC membership - say we join with 150 points and would like to plan a trip with family and need more points. Can we rent points from another member to add to our account or how does that all work?

We rented from another member to add a few days to a March trip we were taking. I looked on the rent points board on this site and made arrangements with another member to rent some of her points. I guess we had a couple of different options. She said she could transfer the points into my account, or I could just have her make the reservation and send me the paperwork. I just had her make the reservation and then I sent her the money. After she received payment, she put the reservation in my name.

You can also borrow points from your next year of points if you have a big family trip in the works. We've got friends that are doing that this summer. They said the down side was they wouldn't have much points left for next year though!

By banking and borrowing, you can get three times your normal points in one year. So if you have 150 points, you can bank them. Then the next year you can use those banked points, your regular points, and then borrow next year's points... to give a total of 450 points for your big family trip.

The HUGE downside to this... no trips the years you banked or borrowed from

So if you are planning big family trips frequently...better buy more points!

Yes, you can rent points from another member. Just pop in to the rent/trade dvc board...... You could also bank and borrow a few points here and there to stay longer....
