Brutus may not be going but the Oregon Ducks mascot is there everyday.
ah man, just found this posted elsewhere:
"After several google searches, I finally called Disney and they said the university sets the schedule for when/if they attend. So I called the university and of course was transferred several times during which I found out that the TEAM will not attend as classes started yesterday and they have to get back to their schedules. I continued to search to find out if Brutus was actually participating in a Disney parage and finally the head of the Spirit Squad emailed me back (very quickly) and said Brutus would not be attending, there is only time for him to do pictures and commercials only. So at least that settles it....no Disney trip for OH-IO."
Pity that the Bucks won't be getting a parade at the World, I was hoping they would be there during my trip. Still happy for the win though! Go Bucks!!![]()
My guess is that its OK for Brutus to go to Disney World, but I would think the team going would be against NCAA rules.
There was a parade last year in MK for UCF after they won the Fiesta Bowl.
Not sure why that'd be any different. Brutus is just a student, I assume.....My guess is that its OK for Brutus to go to Disney World, but I would think the team going would be against NCAA rules.

That's what I get for posting late at night after traveling all day...didn't rely translate from my head to the post LOL. What I meant was, how is it any different for the team (and mascot--just a student but part of the program) to get that stuff than all the stuff they receive from the bowls? They get all sorts of stuff, and if the bowl is near a park, they usually get admission to that. Don't get me wrong either--I totally think they SHOULD get it (plus IMO maybe even a small stipend, if the school were to choose) for the amount of time they give to the school. Yes, they get scholarships (nothing to sneeze at), but the programs make insane amounts of money off them, and they can't have jobs to earn spending money. Boy, I'm way OT here...Right. Brutus is just a student, not an athlete on an athletic scholarship governed by the NCAA. The NCAA is really strict on what "gifts" athletes and their families can accept. For the most part, they can't accept much of anything, including at least transportation to and from Orlando. I'm not even sure if Disney would be allowed to give them park admission for the day, but they might be able to get around that.
