I'm thinking this is the year that I Don't take the kids to get pictures with Santa. What do you think? They are 11 and 8. They would both go, but I'm just not feeling it anymore. Seems like the right time to end this tradition.

Oh no Nan, don't end it yet. Maybe you're not feeling it, but you'll feel it when you see the picture!:thumbsup2 Later on, you'll be glad you didn't stop just yet.

And I can't believe you still have the rats! How lovely next to your Christmas decorations!

If we see Santa and if he isn't busy - we stop for a picture - unless I have to pay for it

Last year - we found Santa just sitting there practically asleep in his chair -Kara, my mom and I all got our pictures taken sitting on his knee - he was thrilled to have some to talk to - we must have stood there about 1/2 hr

Moral of story - you are never too old to get your picture taken with Santa

:santa:

Okay, I didn't tell you near enough to feel my pain. I ALWAYS buy them and I make the kids dress for the event and I have them from year 0 for Wilson on the mantle. That means 9 years of kids in full gear and Santa. Some years that has meant the tux for Wilson.

That was last year's decorations, I don't have to drag them out this year

Maybe I can do a pseudo Santa event. Have them dress in something funny, like tshirts and shorts???

Sad thing we also haven't gone to Half Moon Bay for the pumpkin pictures yet this year. On the last weekend of Sept (our traditional weekend for picture taking) we were at a race in reno. Paul and I have talked about taking them some day after school. Maybe we should just blow off school for a day and take them :goodvibes We can't go on a weekend as the traffic is terrible now that the pumpkins are in season.

Do the kids have off on Monday the 9th? It's Columbus Day...schools are closed here. Maybe you can go then.

thanks for checking hopefully it will still be open 10/13 for me

I haven't dressed Kara for Santa for years now think the last couple of years she was just in t shirt and jeans

One year my husband with his 2 sisters who were in town - went to get their picture taken with Santa - they did it as a joke for their parents - as kids they all hated getting dressed up and the youngest would always cry - they did all kinds of poses etc - sad thing - 2 weeks after the pictures were taken - my husband died

another moral of the story - live for the day

Oh Marla, that's surely a lesson in living. That's a problem I have, either putting things off or constantly looking forward to something. It's hard for me to live in the moment, but I'm working on it. I'm so glad your husband took that picture!

When's Columbus day?? :hippie:

Edited to add: I got confused with Yom Kippur, on the 9th, when schools are closed here. AND Columbus Day, whenever that is, but it's supposed to be on a Monday. I'm delirious, its 2 am and I'm still awake!

HA.. Columbus Day is Monday the 13th of October. Same day that the final payment is due on the cruise and new cruisers can book their excursions.

Artie, artie, artie. I have I told you NOTHING!?!?!?!? I AM OOBER excited for the cruise.. think about it, well... non stop!!! and you should know by now...

I'M TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2

Somehow I think this board will get to 250 pages very soon. From men wearing skirts to rats you guys never cease to amaze me...LOL.

For the records - RATS - not my thing. Mice - well they are ok but still not my thing. We don't have the RAT issues that many folks have in the large cities (was strange to see advertisements for preventing rat infestations on DC local channels). We have field mice issues here and there but that is because I live in the middle of an ex-corn field...:) Hopefully the Rats Kara and class are dealing with aren't the big ones and more of the smaller versions.

DisneyKelly - I swear you are one of the most upbeat people I have ever "met". You are to excited to sleep for several days now - aren't you tired? :rotfl:

Nan, I agree with Marla. Do it but make it fun~

My kids still sit with Santa when the mood strikes them. It usually strikes when Santa looks bored.

It's doesn't matter what their wearing, it's the memories that make the moment.

As a matter of fact.. I am a bit tired!!! lol.. Lets hope it doesnt all catch up w/me on the ship!!

That's ok cause then you can do what I did,

spend the day sleeping by the Pool~ :sunny: :wizard:

I can honestly say that I missed alot of the inside day programs like ship tours, auctions and tastings - but I can also say that my 7 days on the Magic was absolutely the MOST relaxing vacation I have ever taken! I'll just make a point to do those when John sails with me one day~

For those going the days/week before the cruise to Disneyworld - are you thinking about buying the Photopass CD? I'm contemplating pre-ordering it so I don't end up paying for pictures here/there seperately and just print them out when we get back (all for the Disneyworld portion of the vacation).

ok ok, we'll go, but for us it really is an outing. We don't "go" to the mall unless it is for something. Wilson never goes unless dragged. Molly is starting to want to shop with girl friends etc...

We actually have a girl scout over night on the 25th at the Mall. Not quiet sure what it will be. I've been told not to expect to sleep that night. Kelly wanna join me?:rotfl2:

I figure we will get one. Since there are 17 of us going it makes the most sense. Can we get multiple cards with the same number???

Nan, your in CA... right?? hmmmm.. I might take you up on that overnight. Tell me... is it warm where you live right now?!?!?!

I would call the photopass people and ask if you can get more than 1 card w/the same number, or see if they will allow you to merge your cards onto 1 cd.

Anjelica, I think I would wait til you get back from the trips and see if there are enough pics that you like to order the cd. I thought we would have gotten one as well, but when i looked at all the pics, there were only a handful that I truly loved.. I got those and it was at least a $100 less than the cd. The photopass, you get to look at your pics online when you get home. Its pretty cool really. no need to make purchases at the park. I wish DCL would do this.

Actually we did the photopass CD with friends this past May on our vacation. They stayed in our DVC Home with us and we split the cost of the Photopass (kind of like the Budget Boards photopass sharing but with someone I actually knew). I paid 50.00 and she paid 50.00 (pre-order price). If we had waited to pay for the CD after we got home it was an extra 25.00. She got the original CD and burned a copy for her to keep (we had about 5-6 cards between us as we would forget them here and there).

I was actually asking to see if anyone, who was already contemplating it, would be interested in doing something similar - going halfsies basically. I believe the CD can hold 800+ pictures and if you have more than that they will just send you more CD's but the price never changes. Again we were able to burn the copy ourselves and not have to shell out additional for copies from Disney.

Cold is relative. Here it isn't too cold, but cool for us. Yes I'm in San Jose, CA. By December we might get cold..60's that is :lmao: :lmao:
