NYE Western Cruise 2008 - New Thread

I think DCL needs to come up with different degrees of being linked. Does that make sense?

For our extended family cruise I had to have my TA unlink our large group and reconfigure it as two smaller groups just to make trying to get Palo and excursion reservations workable. Then she had to call back and get us all relinked as one large group again. Kind of a pain.

The only thing I really wanted to book this time was Palo brunch. I thought I'd be tough out of luck though; DD and I had tickets to the "So You Think You Can Dance" tour on Saturday, so I knew I wouldn't be home right when our booking window opened. I was pleasantly surprised when I logged on 2+ hours later and there were still some brunch times available. Thanks for not snagging them all guys! :thumbsup2

This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and our 1st Palo brunch. :cool1:

Yikes, shopping and packing plans... I sometimes wonder how I ever found my way to the Dis. I think compulsive planners outnumber those of us who tend to be a bit more impromptu by a wide margin here.
;)

Sheila....i had to wait till Sunday a.m. to make our ressies; i didn't get to book a "high tea" but did get a brunch & there were many dinners to choose from. You will NOT be disappointed in the brunch at all!

Can not start packing now.. the step kids would notice the luggage, and we are not taking them on this trip.. LOL...

We are not packing until that Monday before xmas. Why you might ask??? we will be having the skids that weekend before xmas, for our xmas w/them, and then we are packing that week leading up to xmas. I want to be packed before xmas eve, so that I can enjoy the holidays. We decided to not get the skids for either xmas eve or xmas, as we didnt want to be packing until 3am on the morning of the 26th (that is the day we fly out) Also, we had them for ALL of xmas last year when we took them to NC to visit the grandparents for xmas.

I am totally excited and very much looking forward to this trip!

Great Job on the book Brenda!

Did you do that thru Creative Memories via Shutterfly?

Kelly, that seems to have worked out perfectly for you having had the skids all holiday last year - no worries, no guilt, no arguments over who goes where and when. niiice~

Hello to all you other Magic Mateys out there

Hello to all you other Magic Mateys out there

actually - this one was done all thru Shutterfly - they sent me a free 20-page storybook offer...so i saved $30 & only had to pay for S/H & the extra pages i added

Tigg,

yes its nice... there was no guilt in the matter, and no one can complain. We already told the kids that we were taking them the weekend before for an xmas weekend.

The kids will be 10. Their mom has been telling them since they were 4 that there is no such thing as Santa (even questioned US as to WHY we would lie to the kids and tell them that there was a Santa Claus)... ANYWAY, I believe that they pretend for us. So the question at the table was, will Santa still come.. we always answer the same way when this is asked when we do not have them for xmas.. That is.. Brian is in the military, and Santa makes special deliveries for those in the Military.. that their Papa will just put in a request for the weekend that we will have them.

Nice and GUILT FREE!!!

what?

grim pirate:

I agree, I think it's a terrible thing not to have the spirit of a Xmas Santa. He still comes for my 81 year old mother ::yes:: (he just changed somewhere from mom for me to me for mom, that's the way it is supposed to be)

It doesn't need to be a big thing either, just a little trinket to keep the spirit alive ::yes::

Marla, you were awake for 22 hours with the band??? They should make you an honorary member for your dedication.

Speaking of packing for the cruise, I have already started for me and Jesse, but small things, like swimsuits, dry boxes, a few one-time use waterproof cameras, pjs, multi-plug thing for our electronics, and I think that's it so far. It's still it the high 70s here, and we're still wearing our summer clothes, so I didn't pack Jesse's shorts yet.

This weather is depressing me, it feels like spring, but my seasonal body clock is yearning for fall.

Brenda, I loved your storybook.

No school today and tomorrow for Jesse, due to Rosh Hoshana. He's so glad he doesn't go to Catholic school anymore where he didn't have off for the citywide Jewish holidays. I'm taking him to join the gym today, to put a little muscle over his beanpole bones. He also wants to go for some new jeans, but I told him no more clothes as he doesn't take care of them, always all over the floor. Well, what do you know, he put everything away this morning!

I'm kinda in a blah mood today, so it's nice reading all your posts to lift my spirits.:goodvibes

Here is one for Aisling, to pick up your blah mood.

Three couples are trying to get into the local church. On of the requirements is to abstain from sex for one month.

After a month, the three couples come back to report on their progress. The first couple says they didn't have sex, so the pastor welcomes them to the church gladly.

The next couple says they didn't have sex, but it was very difficult so the husband had to sleep on the couch for the last week. They are also allowed into the church.

Then the pastor turns to the third couple. "Have you remained chaste for the last month?" he asks.

"Well, I am sorry but we didn't make it," the husband said. "We tried but failed. She dropped a can of paint the other day and when she bent over to pick it up, I couldn't help myself and we did it right there."

"Well I am sorry, my son, but you and your wife cannot be permitted to join the church", says the Pastor.

"We understand," the husband says. "We aren't allowed in the Home Depot anymore either."

Grim.. you read that right. She told them when they were 4 yrs old that there was no such thing as Santa and that we had made it up. (Us and the rest of the world!!)

She called Brian, my then boyfriend to ***** him out. She asked that we stop LYING to her children. That she has told them the truth and to please not refer to Santa again.

Of course we listen well.. NOT..

She also HATES Disney. Mind you, she has never been.. but hates everything and anything Disney. WHY?? Probably because Brian and I are Disney freaks. She refered to Disney once as an Evil Congromulate.

Needless to say, I do NOT get along w/the ex.

Aisling, in my family as well... Santa still comes.

Funny, SD9, stb 10, questioned the existence of the Tooth Fairy over the weekend. She said.. Does the tooth fairy really exist?? Brian responded, I would like to believe so. She dropped it. I am sure her mother has told her otherwise.

Here is an interesting question. At what age did you tell your kids, or did you no longer cover for the Big Guy?:santa:

I can remember my sister asking my mom and my mom saying yes, it is your father and I, I can remember being devastated, but I can not remember my age. My sister FYI is YOUNGER than me.

We were never told, nor will we ever tell. It is easy enough to explain the spirit of Xmas without telling ;) My kids know @ 11 and 8. Wilson was ratted out by people at school I think when he was 5, Molly wanted to believe and she forced her brother to shut up and believe, he gets it why now.

Yeah... I dont remember why my sister had this burning need to know. Nothing changed after she confirmed my sister's questioning.. but I just remember being mad at my sister.

We all still get gifts from Santa, and the Easter Bunny. I was raised that way, and so was Brian.

Wasnt sure if anyone ever came clean though. Glad to know that at 11 Molly still believes!

When Brittany asked me if Santa exists, I simply said "I guess if you don't believe in him anymore he doesn't have to come visit." She never asked again ;)

Aisling, your son is a smart one. I would have to extend the amount of time he'd need to take care of his clothes before going shopping tho ;)

Kelly...NOW your relationship with the ex sounds normal~

I'd hate to pry, so I never asked...

Owen's room gets mysteriously clean every time a new gameboy game that he wants is released.

Moi stay awake for 22 hours - HA HA HA - I had my pillow and blanket. I was asleep before we hit the highway leaving the school - woke up when we stopped for potty break - did manage to stay awake for about 15 minutes - woke up as we pulled into the school parking lot where they practiced a couple of hours - I did stay awake for th prelim's competition - had dinner and dozed in the stands during finals before and after our band performed. After I purchased the dvd for the final (all 10 bands) and our bands prelim performance went back to stands and dozed again - Sleep pretty much the way home - like the rest of everyone on our bus

The adults that were chaperoning were asleep and totally forgot to have the kids on our bus call parents saying that we were 10 minutes away from the school

Got this the other day:

Skinny Dipping...

An elderly man in West Virginia had owned a large farm for several Years. He had a large pond in the back.
It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women Skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him, 'we're not coming out until you leave!'

The old man frowned, 'I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked.'

Holding the bucket up he said, 'I'm here to feed the alligator..'

Some old men can still think fast.

in 28 & 17 yrs....DD or DS has NEVER asked that question (:santa: ) and they still get "Santa" gifts....even i get some gifts from Santa every once in awhile....

Had a good laugh earlier

Went to band practice a little earlier to watch their complete run throughs that they do at end of practice

They spent the evening adding little touches here and there

Their last one - the drum line has about a 36 count solo and the band was currently just standing there marching in place

Well tonight they added a few 'dance' steps - hard to explain - but with knees bent shoulder length apart one arm moving out up and over while stepping sideways (with knees bent) - twisting back - and a 'control' spin - they all looked like demented crabs out there - the parents were having a good laugh - and of course we all will be working with them between now and Thursday :rotfl2:

Another big competition this weekend - 32 bands and they are competing at Ohio State University in the horseshoe - and the OSU band will perform at the end - everyone is pretty excited

:cool1: :cool1:
