NYE Western Cruise 2008 - New Thread

I'm sure Jesse will enjoy this December much more than last December.

In all seriousness, his septum was severely deviated, and I struggled with making a decision over him having the surgery. It was just scary to think of him being put under the knife. I remember Jill (Tig's mom) encouraging me to have it done now while he's young. I went to several doctors with him who said to wait until he was 17 because he was still growing, but then I got the idea to call the nose doctor from the TV show Dr 90201, and I actually spoke to Dr. Diamond, the guy on the show. He recommended a NYC doctor, and after a ton of tests and scans, the new doctor said he could do it even at Jesse's age of 15. The only thing was that he didn't take insurance, and he was expensive, but oh well, we just paid it. The guy did a perfect job, both functionally and cosmetically. And his bedside manner to Jesse and the whole family was outstanding.

Jesse could only breathe out of one side of his nose pre-surgery, and now both nostrils are 100% clear. So when he has a cold or allergy now, he's like the rest of us, and not with a double whammy anymore. The bump on his nose is gone, too, so he looks fantastic.

By the way Artie, how's it going with your jaw??

I just finished breakfast with 3 girlfriends and omg I'm drunk already! But I'm still atanding so all is good! woo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

ok drunk sounds so bad I'm just feeling good!

Glad everything turned out good for Jesse, It's easy to see now that you made the right decision, but before hand it is hard on the nerves.

My jaw is doing great, my bottom lip and chin is still numb on the left side, they say it will be about 6 months until the feeling returns. I'm still have weak elastics to "fine tune" my bite (i'm just a couple of millimeters from closing tight on the right side). Things are feeling quite natural now, like my teeth actually belong in my mouth, it was quite akward for a while.

starting the morning off with a bang there?

Very exciting, marla! I always wished my kids were involved in band, but here in nyc band is not as popular as it it in other places. I would love to be a band mom, no kidding. My Chad has played classical piano for about 15 years, taking lessons since he was 7, I can't do the math right now lol.
Jesse plays guitar, and I think my childen have that mucic talent gene from my day who could play any instrument by ear, never read a note of music.

Thanks for the pics, what a wonderful experience for the kids.

Just adding, that field is HUGE! It's amazing how the kids are so precise on such a large area!

Nice pictures Marla. There aren't any bands around us that compete. Last year, our football team played Dublin Coffman--their band was fun to watch. I would love to watch a band competition. The band for the team we played this weekend only had 15 members!!!! We have a game this Thursday night. It's on a Thursday because it will be on tv. Then we have the Colombus Day parade on the 13th.

Scheduled Kelly for a tour of her top college choice for next week. Brenda, will you cry with me?!

Anyone excited about the release of itineraries for 2010 today? I am. I wanted to do a cruise in August for our 25th anniversary, but really wanted the caribbean. Doesn't sound like they'll be doing that so I'm hoping for a 10 night Christmas cruise again.

Off to my elliptical.

Judy

I for got about that, I'm going to check right now!

Excited here to - I really want to do a European one BUT it may be to expensive for me to justify it to husband. So we may end up doing another 7 nighter.

the big annoucement isn't until 12:30 - 12:45 today

curious myself:rotfl:

the biggest field they have marched on that I know of

Kara was giving me a hard time since I only took like 48 pictures - told her it was hard to take pictures while video taping at the same time

the one picture I had no clue where Kara was sitting and turned out she was right there in the shot - rofl

WoooHoooo!!!

I'm so excited! It's an 11 night Christmas cruise! Now I just have to wait for my TA to call me and tell me she got us our room. She faxed in our request loooong ago. I think we will move our 2009 cruise to 2010.

Judy

So, are you all over on the DCL site scoping out the new itineraries? Mickey was swimming pretty slowly when I was there just now. ;)

While some of the cruises sound intriguing, I don't think we'll be booking anything on the 14th. Darn!
I'd love to hear what everone else is interested in though.

While I don't think another DCL trip is in our immediate future, we did get a bit of a Disney fix over the weekend. We went trick or treating with Mickey at DCA. :thumbsup2

OK, I think I'll backtrack and catch up a bit here. I haven't had a chance to check in for awhile.

welllllllll since we were 'jipped' out of our Med cruise - I am seriously looking at one of the 2010 cruises - right now drooling over the 12 night ones

We would love to do a Med cruise (Claudia esp.) However after our cottage purchase this summer and the condition of the stock market, we may have to wait a few more years.

The Toronto stock exchange was down over 1200 points today at lunch time, it has since rebounded for a 650 point loss for the day. I took a look out of my office window just after lunch, but I am at ground level. :scared1:

Good thing we are not retiring for a long time. ;)

Definetly drooling over some of the Med cruises - but then I look at some of the prices and not sure I am going to do much convincing with hubby - of course we don't have any big trips planned at this time (after Xmas this year) so maybe if we don't go anywhere next year he may go for it. I also am curious to see the DVC points for these cruises - that may be another route I go.

We could also do another 7 night - which wouldn't bug me at all but the problem is I don't know if they will be out in a week or so to - anyone know?

Glad you're ground floor Artman!

I used to just shake my head at folks who say they don't even open their stock portfolio updates... now I'm one of them. :sad2:

While I'd love to do the Baltic, a quick glance at the price ranges was enough to put that thought to rest in a hurry.
