I have an 11am brunch scheduled at the Poly on NYE. My original plan was to take a resort bus to the MK and then a boat over to the grand floridian to see the gingerbread house and then monorail over to the poly. Since it is NYE and I run the risk of the MK closing, should I take a cab to the GF and hope the monrail is still running, or should I take a cab to the Poly and skip the GF all together?

On New Years Eve Day you can pretty much be guaranteed that MK is going to reach capacity before 10am. If you're not in the MK before then, then you're not likely to get in. And if you're in and leave, you're not getting back in.

Well even when the Magic Kingdom does close to capacity the Resort Monorail still operates like it always will. Plus there is also a walkway between the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian.

It sounds to me as if the OP is worried about MK closings as it will affect her transportation options - and not that she is needing to get in or back into the MK.

For the OP you will be fine taking a resort bus and then the monorail - the guests need to get around the lagoon for various activites and that will be running as usual.
