As the parks sound as if they will be so busy I'm thinking of booking a meal at a resort and staying there to see in the NY. How do I find out what is happening at which resort and what do you knowledgeable people recommend?

Many thanks.

For some reason this information is always hard to come by. I can tell you that in the past high ticket special events have been held at the California Grill, Atlantic Dance and the GF holds a formal dinner dance in the ballrooms. Narcoosee's also usually has a special menu but the prices aren't as high as these other events.

Once you pick where you would like to enjoy dinner that night, book early!

On the flip side, I have to say that it is an awful lot of fun in the parks. I'd think anyone might like to try it at least once. Unless you really, really don't like to be caught in crowds (as some people do).

Thanks Pam OKW, this is the type of info I am after.

NYE will be our last night at WDW and whilst I want it to be good and really do not want to battle with the crowds. Just want to go somewhere for a nice meal, maybe see a show or fireworks but not face the crowds.

Anymore suggestions out there??

We're going to Chef Mickey's -- kind of frenetic, I know, but probably not as much so as one of the parks might be. We'll be taking my DS (age 8), my nephew (13), my niece (25) and her husband (27) as well as my parents, so we thought Chef Mickey's would be an appropriate place for a party. Before we collected a crowd, we were planning on a nice dinner at 'Ohana's . I think that might be a fun place. I know the Swan had a huge hard ticket party last year. (We stayed at the Swan but did not attend the party.)

I'm hoping that the Poly might have an impromptu party going on the beach. (We're staying there for NYE.)

Hi. We are going to the Yachtsmen Steakhouse (there are 9 of us, including 3 kids). We chose that b/c we werent' sure if we wanted to "battle" with the large crowds at EPCOT/MK/MGM. Since we are staying at the BC, we should be able to see the fireworks from the YC/BC/BWI area - .. hoping our plan works out! :)

DH and I will be there with our 5 kids, ages 1 to 15. Currently I have dinner PS's at both 'Ohana and Teppanyaki because I can't decide if I want to brave the crowds at Epcot or just hope to see the MK fireworks from the Poly. I'm thinking 'Ohana should be fun on NYE though---kind of leaning that way, because I'm really leery about trying to push a stroller thru Epcot that night. Oh, won't someone please make my decision for me? ;)

We were at WDW last NYE and will return this year. The Swan/Dolphin have a party for all ages and includes live band kids games and buffet meal. We chose to go to Epcot and had PS at Teppanyaki, very good. There was also a Rock n Roll NYE party at Epcot (extra $$) at the building between uk and Canada. Had bands , games and buffet and you could enter/exit as you pleased into Epcot. Heard good things about this one. Right now we are going to MGM and eat at Brown Derby and watch NY enter.

Thanks, these suggestions all sound great but how do I find out what is going on at the resorts???

Have you tried calling the resorts you're interested in? I know it's the obvious answer, but sometimes people overlook the obvious.
Cheers!

Thanks for the advice Heather - I had thought of it but there seems to be so much information flying around on these boards I thought they may be a link to this info somewhere - as a newbie I'm relying on other people's experiences. Will give it a go tho'.

Meanwhile, all suggestions welcomed.
