I am considering booking this cruise for my family. We have only cruised once (Fantasy, Spring Break 2016). There seems to be a fair amount of availability. Since I missed out on the best rates and I don’t care about room placement, does it make sense to wait for guaranteed rates to become available. I am not tied to this cruise, just thought it might be a fun trip as Castaway Cay was by far our favorite port. Looking for expert advice!

I don't really recall any of the other new years eve cruises showing up as a GTY rate, but I don't normally track those. There is a thread somewhere around here where they track GTY, VGT, MTO rates. You could go back and look through there to see if the new years eve cruises show up as a GTY type fare or not. Just remember that it is winter in the caribbean now too, so the waters might be cooler and the winds a bit stronger.

EDIT- Found the thread here: https://www.disboards.com/threads/current-gt-mto-flr-discounts.3244232/page-156#post-58547728

We are booked on that Dream cruise with 4 friends. 2 of them booked a cabin just last week, and the cabin was $200 above what we paid when we booked in May for the same category, a Navigator Veranda.

Being a holiday cruise and a double dip I would not expect there to be GTY rates. If you want this cruise I would book sooner than later because prices will go up.

Thanks, all. I appreciate the input. I was simply surprised by the number of available staterooms when I started looking earlier this month. I will get on the booking ASAP.
