NYE at BWV standar view sold out

I've been calling day-by-day also. Some days I've been lucky and gotten right through. Others--like today--were much more difficult. We're going for ressies at OKW (2 bedroom lockoff)though and that is not as difficult as BWV. The CM yesterday said that booking BWV is bedlam--absolute chaos!!!! Our ressies are confirmed for OKW check in on Dec. 22 and check out on Jan 1--so far. (I think that is what dvcreg meant). Monday will be my last call--trying to get a January 3rd check out. I will be glad when this is over. I've never done a day-by-day ressie before and, even though it has been a hassle, I'm glad I did it to assure having rooms for the holiday.

PKK, it looks like you and I will be "neighbors." Feel free to stop by for a cup of eggnog.;) (We're planning on 1/4 checkout.)

And yes,1/1 is the checkout day at this point. I have to book the night of 1/1 on Monday, along with 50,000 other people calling at 9:00am.:( :(

That's a date for MGM Spruce!:bounce: :bounce:

I am so glad that we decided to "splurge" this year and go for a 1br instead of a studio. We are checking in on 12/29 and out on 1/4 and haven't had a problem yet getting a standard view 1br for the first 3 nights. We did get lucky and get in faster yesterday than the other two days, so I guess the standard view gods must be smiling on us! (they are kind of like the tiki gods at the Poly ;-) ).

I am SO glad that monday is the last day of this ordeal!

We will definitely be neighbors!! That eggnog sounds great!!! We'll definitely take you up on it!! LOL!! I will think of you this Monday morning at 9am when I am trying to get through to Member Services on the phone!! Hope it doesn't take too long for either of us!! SIGH!! After reading this thread, though, I am really relieved that I was not trying to reserve BWV. It's a wonderful resort--but boy, you really have to fight for those ressies!!

But only if you want standard view! Buy where you want to stay the most is definitely good advice in this case, isn't it?? :D :D

To date, we've only stayed in BWV standard view rooms and I've always called day by day at the 11 month window to get the reservation. It hasn't been all that bad. But I am very glad that we don't want to stay between Christmas and New Year's Day either.

Best of luck to those who still need to call Monday to complete their reservations. :)

After reading this thread I have NO trouble understanding why DVC won't have standard/preferred views at new properties like VWL, etc. What a nightmare!!

The calling back to UNCONFIRM has to be the worse job ever. I can just hear the members yelling!

Having bought in at VWL, I just 'accept' that I'll have to take preferred view at BWV (If I'm lucky enough to get in at all). At least the cost in points is the same.

Good luck to all the Std View reservation hunters. Sounds like it is a prize trophy, if you can bag one! :D

I really wish that they would go back to a single point structure. Maybe if they have enough problems like this one they will!

The reason that I like standard view rooms is I actually PREFER the location. If all of the rooms at the BWV cost the same number of points I would still request the area that is currently considered a "standard" view. You have a view of the fireworks and it's SOOOO much quieter than anywhere else. We could only get a preferred view room for our last trip for 2 nights and asked for BW view. We were actually on the village green on the second floor right above wyland galleries and what a racket was going on out there! Give me my nice standard quiet view!

From what I understand (I wasn't a member then), when the resort opened all the rooms were preferred view points. I'm glad they made the standard view point category for lower points, close to OKW's. It's 34 points less for my December reservation (1 bedroom, 6 nights, 121 vs 155). I would have to cut a night or two off if all the rooms were preferred level (I also have a May trip at OKW that takes 148).
