My family has eaten there just a few times. That was many years ago. I thought the food was marginal but the service was wonderful. It is a huge tourist trap.

I didn't read that it is closing. Just filing chapter 11 and going to renovate under new ownership. Maybe it will be an improvement?

Yikes, thanks for pointing that out to me. Changing the title.

But I agree, it needs improving...kinda gaudy with all the decorations, JMHO!

I agree with your assessment. I hope this new restructuring and management will bring the cost down and make it more of a place for many people to want to go. More of a pleasant cafe instead of an overpriced tourist trap.

I was so sad to hear that today. My husband took me there for the first time ever a few weeks ago and i've been wanting to eat there for years. Unfortunately right when the meal arrived MIL called and had gotten sick so we needed to leave to go home to the kids. I thought the atmosphere was lovely and was excited to take a walk outside afterwards. Hope it doesn't go away or someone rich comes in to spruce up the place.

I hope they pull it together! We do a mother daughter brunch every year around Christmas. We enjoy it very much. Its really pretty around the holidays. My girlfriend got married there years ago when the food was better.
