The bus she is talking about is the M116. It goes from LGA to 116th and B-Way--through Queens! It's actually a nice way to see a bit of Queens and it comes right down 125th street in Manhattan, so you can see a bit of Harlem. However, it's a city bus used by lots of people going about their daily lives--so it stops every few streets all the way through it's route. Lots of luggage will be in the way on the bus.....but you should be able to get seats since the route begins at LGA--so that should be good. From 116th you'll have to hop the 2/3 subway to 42nd street or grab a cab down to the hotel.

So...in this case, I don't think the bus will be faster. Grab a cab at the airport---and just plan on consolidating your luggage or bringing stuff you can pile on your laps.

I was actually referring to the M60.

I've done this subway bus trip from Newark to Penn Station to the M60 or whatever the directions were.
I was by my self and had nothing but time on my hands. I would not want to do it with others and luggage. Like said, it stopped almost every block it felt. It was standing room only. I was heading in the opposite direction, but you will also when you are heading back.
I think the suggestion of using a car service is your best bet going and comming. Try packing light and not bring so much. What are your plans?
We just got back two weeks ago. We got tickets to Matilda (lottery day of the show) and did some shopping etc.
Just plan it in your budget and do the car service. We didn't get a week metro card, we did alot of walking and came out a few dollars cheaper just paying per ride. We were only there for 3 days.
I'm also from a small town, so I can relate to not doing alot of subway riding. Get a map and just remember "uptown/downtown". We did go out to Coney Island. Then we stopped on the way back and walked the Broklyn Bridge back. Then walked to Chinatown/Little Italy.
Had Ice Creame at the Chinese Icecream factory. And Italian desserts from Ferrairs or whatever it's called in Little Italy.
If you get near the Bus terminal 42/8th. Cake Boss has a cafe there. (it wasn't there the last time we were there and we went to Hoboken) we really love the lobster tails. Have fun. Good luck. .....(it's too late now, but I'd suggest staying in New Jersey Secacus area and catching the bus into the city. Rooms are bigger, cheaper. Could fly in to Newark, Nj.....oh well

Thanks everyone. Once we have our itinerary planned, I will post it. I appreciate all your help.

I believe it goes to port authority.

Fees are $3. 20 for adults and $1.45 for kids each way

Honestly, with four of you and that much luggage, I would say just hop in a cab. It'll cost you about $30 plus tip. Trying to navigate the bus/subway with all that stuff when you're not familiar with the system is just going to be overwhelming. Plus it'll be up and down stairs and trying to cram into a bus.

x2!!!!! I totally agree. We took the bus/train from LGA to manhattan, and let me tell you, it was a pain with our luggage. NEVER AGAIN! For a family of 4, i'd definitely go with a taxi! :thumbsup2

To the OP - I stayed at the Milford last fall. The room was clean, but very small. It was fine for the night we stayed, but we were there only to sleep. I actually have it booked again for a night this coming fall. The location was great.
