We hit the 90 day mark tomorrow!
Not sure what we are doing for excursions yet...I think we are going to do some excursions on our own....with what Disney is offering, we are having a hard time pleasing the adults, a 17 yr old and 2 11yr olds...what interests one doesn't necessarily interest the other...plus some of the age restrictions on the active adventures isn't helping! But I know we are going to be doing some type of couple's spa thing and Palo.
Glad our gift exchange is growing...it is not too late! Join in on the fun!![]()
Joining the fun!! Three of us: me (Jerri), dh (Pat), and dd13 (Autumn) cabin # 8556. This will be our 7th cruise (3rd with Disney). Took a road trip thru New Brunswick and Nova Scotia last year and totally adored the area - so happy to get a chance to returnJust booked these excusions:
Halifax - Lunenberg, St. John - bay of fundy whale and wildlife, and contacted dcl excursions about the pre Mary Poppins backstage tour and show (saw this show when it came to Denver -FANTASTIC!). Now on to plane tickets, tixs to "Newsies", and hotel reservations!!!![]()
Are you booking your hotel thru Disney? I highly recommend Doubletree Suites right in Times Square. The suite gives you a little extra room and you are literally looking out onto Times Square. I grew up in NYC (live in Boston now) and in Feb we had to be in Manhattan so booked there....my daughter (turns 13 the week before we cruise) loved being in the middle of it all! It was crazy but fun. That being said, the Hilton Garden Inn is a few blocks away....actually between the pier and Times Square....and that is just a bit quieter if you want that when you walk out the door.Joining the fun!! We will be staying with family the week before the cruise and it hadn't occurred to me to check out excursions in NYC pre/post. I may need to check out Mary Poppins!
Haven't figured out excursions yet. My daughter wants to do 'sweet things' in Halifax.....ice cream shop, candy shop and cowtails! Hmm...think we need to add in something else! Considering the museum to see Titanic exhibit and may do the Pink on/off bus.
Great locations on both ends of the cruise! If your daughter loves to shop, check out Uniqlo. You can check them out online. Cool basics...from Japan. My daughter loves the store so whenever we get to NY (visiting family a few times a year) we go!Ended up booking the Waldorf Astoria before the cruise (dd wants to check out 5th Ave and Park Ave - I'm hoping to go to Serendipity) and went with The Hilton Times Square for a few nights after the cruise (it's right by the two theaters our shows are at - couldn't be more convenient!!). Thinking about doing a day tour to the World Trade Center Memorial. We have never been to NYC - trying to hit all the highlights in a short amount of time.
Love the idea of a "sweet things" theme!! Sounds yummy!!![]()

World Trade Center Memorial...you need to book your tickets online before you go but it's easy to do. Very emotional place...be prepared for that.
I checked out the shows they have available on the excursion site....love both Mary Poppins and Lion King. TKTS is right in Times Square so if you want to try for 1/2 price day of tickets you can check out some other shows as you are staying right there at the Hilton.
Empire State Building is touristy but fun. Again, you should get tickets ahead of time to avoid an extra line.
I grew up in NY and am happy to share other ideas if you'd like.
Don't forget to stop by toys r us and ride the carousel. The Barbie section is awesome! But the dinosaur next to Lego land is frightening! (lol)Thanks so much for the helpI checked out the Uniqlo website - looks like her kind of store...putting it on the list! We will probably opt for the Top of the Rock instead of the Empire State Building and I think we may do a bus tour that includes the Statue of Liberty and WTC Memorial. Foods to try include pizza, bagels, and a trip to a good deli - any recommendations for these?
