I'm fairly certain I want to opt for the convenience of parking in the Manhattan Port Terminal parking. Any advice on how soon to arrive to ensure getting a spot? We're concierge so no PAT. Is it relatively easy to find (I have the DCL directions)? How about ease of getting from parking into terminal? Any advice about parking there would be appreciated!

We drove up from VA last week for the 10/2/17 cruise. Left VA at 4 AM & got to the Cruise terminal at 9:52 (DW clocks us). We were the fourth car parking in the lot above pier 88. Parking was my big fear (had researched everything else). There was a short security inspection when we unloaded on the sidewalk prior to parking, but no big deal. We hung out in the terminal reading (DW & I) or playing on phones (kids). The 1.5 hour wait was worth having the security of a parking spot. Of note, we had a delayed embarkation due to a Coast Guard inspection; we were told that we should've gone aboard around 11.

When we went to our room (stbd side of Magic) and looked down on Pier 88, there were a few (3?) spots still available around 1.

Parking to terminal was super easy. At the head of the pier there's an elevator as well as an escalator. There's a fellow on the elevator who runs it for you. Of note, when we returned, Magic moored to Pier 90, so we headed to the street just outside the doors, walked over to 88, took the elevator up to the 88 parking area then to the car. Dad was the pack mule (!), but it was super easy. 10 minutes later, we were in NJ heading down the Turnpike.

P.S. If you're not a New Yorker and unfamiliar with Manhattan, I encourage you to go to Google Maps and use the Street View to walk you through your route. I did that and it made the entire experience fairly stress free

We're near Fredericksburg, so you have an idea for the time on the road. And yes, there was heavy traffic on 95 and the beltway heading into DC , At 4 AM. We took the 95 to the Beltway to the B/W Pkwy to Baltimore, then under the Baltimore Harbor on 895, back to 95 to the NJ TP just north of Delaware. The last 14 miles on the NJ TP were a crawl (over an hour), but that was the worst part by far. The Lincoln Tunnel moved along (40-ish MPH) and the Traffic in Manhattan was fine.

Enjoy your cruise!!! Tell the Magic we said 'Hi'

We're in Vienna. Ugh. I was thinking about leaving at 530am. This has been very helpful!

We drove from Philly area for the 9.27 cruise and arrived around 11:30am ish and there was plenty of parking, I read the below thread at least 4 times and found it very helpful. Be sure to take Lincoln Tunnel no matter what GPS reroutes, don't take GW bridge (assuming you're coming from the south). When you make a left into the port, it's the far left, follow the sign for cruise terminal. I tried to illustrate this for you using the green line, the black arrows represent regular traffic and at some point you'll have to make a left at the light, but not an exact u turn, hopefully my green arrow makes sense, it's kind of like a u turn into the cruise terminal section, there will be a sign for cruise terminal. The other photos show what the parking lot looked like at about 1:30-2pm when we could get into our room, it was about 40% full when we got there at 11:30 but about 85% full by 2pm.

Thank you for this info, it's very helpful. We'll be driving down from NH and I too was curious just how soon the parking garage fills.

We are sailing on the 10/21 cruise and plan on arriving sometime around 10:30-11 AM. This will allow for second dining passengers to leave the ship and get to their cars opening up more spots. Last year we arrived at 9:30 and found only 3 spots available but many more opened up later in the morning. Parking is $40/night. They accept cash, VISA and Mastercard. We tried to use our AMEX last year but were told they did not accept it. I have recently read that it is accepted now but if you plan to use it I would have a back up card available. You will drive up the ramp and pay for your parking in advance. There will be someone to direct you as to where to go. Before you enter the lot you will be instructed to open your trunk and it will be inspected by a dog and his handler. There is a drop off area in the parking lot near the elevator to unload your luggage and passengers if they don't want to walk from the end of the lot. The walk is not bad but if you have someone with a disability, you may want to drop them off there.

I think your illustration makes perfect sense. Thanks so much! Lots of great info! I can do this!

it was a super easy ride until we got to lincoln tunnel, it was jammed there and slow and then when we got out we just followed the directions of taking our exit and making a left on to the street you drive towards the port. It's neat to arrive in the Lincoln Tunnel via through way and exit the tunnel being right in Manhattan, it's kind of neat but you're only on the manhattan streets for about 1.5 miles and lasts for all of 15 min... as long as the driver has a good GPS follower in the front seat giving directions you'll be fine, it's not that bad. The port parking process was extremely smooth and you pay up front.
