NYC Port Itineraries

We live about 30 minutes from the Manhattan cruise port. I LOVE when DCL is in town. No flights to worry about and sailing down the Hudson River is so beautiful. We are looking at doing Bermuda this Fall but I'll wait for some discounts which they usually offer. We have done 8 nights to the Bahamas and a few 5-7 night Canada cruises and a 2 night cruise out of NYC on DCL. Our most recent out of NYC was this past October.

We only had one time where we were affected by a hurricane. It was hurricane Matthew and it came barreling up the East Coast. DCL changed the itinerary from a Bahamas cruise to a Canadian cruise the day before sailing. We were able to repack for cooler weather before the cruise but many who were flying in didn't know of the change until they arrived at the port. DCL did offer everyone the choice of sailing on the new itinerary or getting a full refund or switching to a different date. They also gave everyone who did sail a partial refund and an onboard credit.

There were so few people on the sailing that after the first night they combined the two dining times to one. Dining at 7:30 was so nice!!

The threat of weather would never keep me from booking a cruise out of any port. Hurricane season is June 1st to November 30th....though it is more active in September/October.

I really wish they would bring back the itinerary of 8 days out of NYC to Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral. They first stop in Port Canaveral and give everyone hopper tix to WDW with Fast Passes and bus service. It was a full day at the parks and buses running continuously so you could go back to the ship any time you wanted. A few days at sea and a stop a Castaway Cay. Love that itinerary.

We have cruise credit from Disney for our canceled cruise in December when due to flight cancelations we weren't able to get to San Diego. We've been looking at New York cruises because we live upstate and can make it to the port more easily. I just found out October is hurricane season so came across your post when I was researching hurricanes. I had to laugh about your comment about enjoying the sail down the Hudson. Our last (also first) cruise out of NY we were sailing SO LONG before we left buildings and land behind that I wanted to knock on the captains's door to make sure he was going the right way.

We are sailing out of NYC Oct 31, headed to Bermuda. It’s for my bday (Nov 4), no kids. We are hoping the weather holds up and we have relatively smooth sailing - never sailed out of anywhere other than PC, Miami, and San Diego.

I’m excited to see the Statue of Liberty and do the tourist thing the day before. Never been to Bermuda - but what I have read it sounds like it will be relatively cool weather and we may not be able to swim. We’re from Minnesota-so it would take pretty cool temps to keep us out of the ocean!

🤞🏻 for a decent trip with calm(ish) seas and temps over 50°!

I was on the October 31 sailing from NYC to San Juan via Bermuda last year. I don't know how typical my experience is, but it was cold and raining in NYC, and It was very warm in Bermuda. We didn't try to swim, though, so I don't know how warm the water was. Anything less than 80F is cold to me, though!

If you want to visit the Statue, then you need to plan ahead. You need a pass and it's a whole thing. You can see it for free without any prep from Battery Park, though, and you'll have awesome views from the cruise ship.

Have fun!

We did NYC to Bermuda in 2019 at the end of Sept and are on a similar one this time. The weather was very good in Bermuda and we certainly swam. If I remember correctly it was in the mid to upper 70s and the water was very nice.

Oddly you need to beware of the aggressive bees there.

The walking around weather was lovely and as someone said above, I don't usually think anything under 80 is ok ;-D
