NYC disers...need some info please

I am planning a trip to NYC for the day with my kids. We will be flying into LGA. I know how to get into Manhattan as I have done the day trips with others...but what is the easiet way to get to The Statue of Liberty from there?? I have been to the MTA website but I cant make heads or tails of the whole thing . If it weren't my kids I would go and just wing it...but thats not much fun with kids.
Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.

From the New York side, the ferry leaves from Battery Park. You might want to consider a Circle Line tour that includes other sites as well. Lots to see and do, but you will need to do your homework and research well before you get to the city.

Thanks guys...like I said I would wing it like I have before if my kids werent going. My fiance and I decided last month to go to NYC for the day at the spur of the moment and we had a great time walking around Times Square. I dont think the kids would appreciate the "adventure" of it all if mom didnt have a clue about where we were going.
