NYC DISers I NEED HELP FAST!!

Coming to NYC next weekend for the premiere party of a national commercial I was in. Got a killer dress and shoes to wear, but I need to visit a salon for a style. I'm staying in Midtown (theater district, on 44th between 4th and 5th) and need someplace I can walk to/from w/o screwing up my hair.

Oh -- and it can't break the bank or DH will have a heart attack. (I haven't told him what the dress cost... )

Anybody got any ideas? I found Belleza Salon & Shop on 46th, but don't know anything about them.

Hi Mandy, there is no 4th Ave up where you're staying, so I assume you're staying on 44th btw 5th and Park. There's a chain of salons here called Jean Louis David that's pretty cheap, and there's a big one on 45th and 6th (northeast side of the corner). They wouldn't break your bank. Are you imagining an updo, or just a classic blowout? I might go somewhere a little more upscale for a complicated updo. There's an Elizabeth Arden salon on 5th - you'd spend a lot of $, but you'd get a lot of updo.

I'm between 5th and Ave of the Americas. My hair is bobbed, so I just need a blowout and a style -- not a lot you can do with chin-length straight hair! The Jean Louis David is really close. I'll probaby just run up there. Thanks so much!

Ave of the Americas = 6th Ave, not 4th.

I know people who use that salon, it'll do just fine for a wash/blowdry, and you won't need an appointment.

I had my hair and makeup done at a place on W 46th for a photo shoot 2 months ago but the name is escaping me...
