in what order would you do them?

Ive decided that I want to do both for my honeymoon next year, but I really dont know whether to do NY first and then onto Orlando or the other way round?

Does anyone have any thoughts (is it cheaper to do a certain one before the other maybe?)

What would be your decider?

Im in such a pickle???:confused3

We did 4 nights NY then down to Orlando for 21 nights. Deciding factor for us was time of year, NY gets very cold in Oct, even early Oct it was freezing. Then down to Orlando for fantastic weather.
NY was a non stop trip for us, packed in as much as poss and still ran out of time, walked miles & miles, personally wouldn't want to end a holiday there, much prefer to end in Orlando.

We're also doing NY first. Not that we had much of a choice as that's where we arrive but don't fly home from. But even so, would rather do NY first. Like Wayne says, it's more likely to be full on so better to do it at the beginning of a trip. Although Orlando can be full on too, it's a different kind of vacation, more relaxing.

It depends on how you want to start / end your holiday There is lots too see and do in Nyc so its normally a busy trip I have been 9 times and still have not done everything I have done it both sides of an orlando holiday and liked going before orlando as I had more energy to do the sights plus with jet lag I was up early so sights were not as busy

Hi

We're doing 3 nights in NY and then 2 weeks in Orlando this June/July. Doing the NY leg first. Just seemed right to do it that way.

Garry

Thanks everyone, you have helped. Think i'll be doing NY first as that seems to be best way

I saw both holidays as a non stop - but thinking more about it, I wouldnt mind taking 1 day out for total relaxing out of the 2 weeks in orlando whereas I wouldnt want to in the few days in NY.

How have you all booked these twin centre holidays? Can anyone recommend a TA who i can go to. Or have you booked it all via the web on your own?

I booked all seperate but I do most holidays that way. If you have time and patience then DIY is the way to do it, if you want it booked and done with a T/A is the way to go.

I would normally do everything seperate but its normally a single trip there and back, so I was wondering if I was taking on a bit too much?

SO .... any recommendations on Hotels in NY people?

Why dont you get a couple of quotes from a TA and then see how you go pricing it up on your own? That way you can use the package itinerary as a framework to work from so you don't feel so daunted. You will find far more options with DIY as TAs only have agreements with certain groups, but it is a way to get you going. :goodvibes

Yeah good idea - i'll do that. Thank you

Where did you guys stay in NY and would you recommend it?

We are doing NY and then Orlando this October. We picked to do NY first because a few years ago we did Orlando followed by Miami, and spent the entire time in Miami miserable, whinging that we had left Disney behind us and had nothing to look forward to . . . we swore that if we ever did a multi-stop again we would leave Orlando for last so we have it to look forward to! I like NY, but no way will I miss it when I know Disney's ahead of me! That and the same reason as Wayne - I want to fly into the good weather!!

The last time I went to NY in 2001 we stayed in the Millenium Broadway, lovely hotel and dead on Time Square, couldnt beat the location! This time we are trying to do it cheap, so staying at Comfort Inn Manhattan which is apparently near the Empire State.

The only other alternative if you are considering doing it DIY is to get a brochure i.e. Virgin, check out the hotels and the reviews and then go onto the hotel site directly or even a third party site to price up the hotel bit.
I'm sure Southwest fly from NY to Orlando. We used them from Chicago to Orlando in August last year and I couldn't fault them for a budget airline. 50kg of luggage and free drinks and snacks for £64 each.
For getting from the hotel back to the airport you could always get the front desk to book you a cab or the doormanwill flag one down for you.

we've always done NY at the end of the trip and had a great time..

but i should add that in between orlando and ny, we usually have about a week in detroit...
so the NY part of the trip is a big improvement over detroit.... ;)

but, really, i love NY so much, it wouldn't matter to me whether it's at the beginning or the end...

I have stayed in the Millenium Hilton Church Street
The Embassy suites north end street Both of these hotels are beautiful they are by the world trade center site a bit out from all the main sights but near to were you get the boat for the statue of liberty

Doubletree times square another great hotel room size great bedroom and separate sitting room right in times square too

We're doing 14 nights in NY first staying at The Garden City Hotel in Garden City Long Island and then we're off to WDW.

We did this last year, but also visited Boston. The order was NY-Boston-Orlando which, although a tad illogical (up then down rather than straight down!) worked out best cost-wise. I must admit it was still a very full-on holiday from start to finish despite us having a few 'somewhat' relaxing days (never full rest days though, which I think makes a difference!)
Hotels... We stayed at the Hampton Inn Madison Square Garden as it got good reviews and had breakfast included. We really enjoyed our stay there and the location near Penn Station and the ESB (some prefer to be nearer Times Square but we only visited there once and that was enough us!)

thanks for your tips everyone, i'll look futher into all of them.

i just tried to price it up on a ta's website, but i can tell its not a 5 minute job

we always stay in the waldorf on park avenue...
so if anyone is interested in staying there, i'll answer any questions you have..

we always stay in a 1 br suite on the concierge level.....
service is pretty good and the ample amount of food in the concierge lounge eliminates the need for breakfast.....it's actually a much more reasonably priced hotel than others in the same category...
