Hello!
I have a question about compensation/vouchers from Northwest - looking for advice. My file on their computer is marked that I am entitled to it, and I wanted to check here before I call.
Okay...here goes...
I just got back today from a business trip (yayyy!!! Home with my boys!!!
) and now I need to follow up on a conversation I had with NWA on Monday last (Memorial Day).
I had three connecting flights, originating in my city. Shortly before we left to run some errands and then go to the airport, I checked and discovered that nwa had cancelled my first flight and rebooked all three flights for Tuesday. I would have arrived at my final destination at 4:30 and missed a whole day of training. Not that I thought that would be a bad thing, but my company may have been disappointed.
I called to see what I could do and the customer service woman was just excellent. There wasn't anything she could do for me regarding my local flight, but she was willing to check all the options and was genuinely sympathetic. Unfortunately, we only have the one airline here and the next nearest airport is where flight #2 was anyway.
I decided that DH and DS would drive me up to the cities (flight #2) and fortunately we had just enough time. She rebooked me on flights 2 and 3 and said they could give me an involuntary refund for the first leg and I asked if there was anything else they could do since it was my office that paid for the ticket and it was me and my family who would be inconvenienced. She said they could also get me a voucher. I had the option of talking to any gate agent or calling when I got home. Since I only had 50 minutes or so in between flights, I opted to wait until I get home.
Sooooo....
Anyone know what the possibilities for me are? I would definitely prefer a voucher since we can always use it for MCO, but I was just hoping someone here on the DIS could share their compensation stories so I can have an idea what to ask for - not more than I'm entitled, but not less than I could get.
***I should add that NWA was really nice about this and I was irritated with circumstances, not them. Supposedly the fight was cancelled due to "mechanical problems" but our local has a rep for cancelling flights because only one or two passengers are signed up. Also, NWA signed me up to go through the extra special security check
because of my "last minute changes". Again, I am more grateful that TSA does that but it was an extra PIA.
Thanks in advance!!!
