I just was reading the thread about Nutrisystem and was 2 pages in before I realized it was posted last year.

I just started, today. Anyone on the plan want to do it with me?

Hi, I just found your post. I started Nutrisystem 7 weeks ago. I've lost 14 lbs so far.

I am enjoying the convienience of it. I have found that I enjoy the beef dishes more than the chicken dishes. The chicken are a bit bland.

How are you doing?

Howdy. Not many folks doing Nutrisystem I guess. My wife and I put our orders in today, and will be starting later this week.

Any pointers towards good Nutrisystem resources would be greatly appreciated.

I've been on it since December and I've lost 30 lb.

I've been slacking this week, though. I need to find my motivation! :goodvibes

Hi!

I've never done Nutri-System before, but ordered my first shipment 2 days ago. I've heard great things from a few friends of mine who have tried the system ... now I just have to get motivated for exercising!

Hi Nutrisystem Buddies!!! I recently did 5 weeks and lost 20 lbs. I just placed an order last night. If anyone has any questions, feel free to pm me~!:goodvibes

That's great! I'm starting Day 4, and none too pleased about the two or three tablespoons of cereal I got for breakfast this morning! :) I think Nutrisystem is turning out to be a lot more about portion control than about anything else, and for dry goods, it seems to me that I can readily do that for myself, much more affordably, just by buying a few boxes of zip-top bags. The prices are Disney-like ;) without us really being a captive market like we are at WDW.

The food in the Styrofoam cups is pretty bad. It's evidently very tempermental food technology they're using, and even when you do everything right, it isn't clear to me that the food turns out the way it is supposed to, and it has a really off taste and texture.

The food in the other containers seems to be pretty good. Very expensive, but unlike the dry goods, there aren't many ways to get food with that kind of nutritional profile, and it isn't easy to make food like that in such small batches to fit the portion size, nor a practical way of making a big batch and storing it in a transportable, shelf-stable manner, for weeks on end. So the convenience factor there is worth somewhat more than average, but perhaps not as much as Nutrisystem is charging... However, I can see paying that little bit more for the entrees, in order to stay within the program -- not the dry good though. I'm going to try to convince my wife not to buy any more of the cereal, at least. We don't have to buy "full baskets" as far as I know.

Just a quick question

About how much does this cost you per week? the food etc.?

Thanks

Brandy

It's typically around $300 per month, so say less than $70 per week.

My first order was the Favorite Foods package and I agree, some things are hit or miss. That being said, I would write down which foods were good and which ones were not. The order that I just placed recently, I picked out all of the foods. I didn't like the eggs at all. This time, I am doing mostly breakfast bars, pancakes, blueberry muffins and the strawberry toaster pastry.
For lunch, I am doing mostly lunch bars during the week along w/side salad and light yogurt. (I am a nursing student and this is quick as I have only a 20 minute lunch break and no time to wait in line to warm up something in the microwave!)
I did order some hot lunches to have on the weekends though.
Dinners are mostly pizza, chicken parm, beef stew, veggie lasagna, pasta fagioli (you can tell I'm Italian;) )
For the dessert I chose mostly chocalate crunch bars, nutrichocalates, lemon blueberry bar, chocolate crunch bar.
I think that Nutrisystem is about portion control but the food is packed w/protein (even the chocolates!) so you feel full. Of course, the first week is hard but then you really get used to the small portions. Make sure to eat all that you are supposed ie. fruit w/breakfast, salad and dairy with lunch etc. Otherwise you won't feel as full! Can't wait for my order to come and get back on track!!!!!!

I just manually entered all the Nutrition Facts in a spreadsheet, so I can compare them to alternatives. I'm finding that the cereal is actually pretty good nutrition-wise--- I'm finding it hard to find alternatives that are as nutritious. The lunches and dinners, though, my old program, HMR, has some decent alternatives, which are pretty yummy, and compare very well nutritionally.

Do you mind me asking what is HMR?? Thanks:)

Hi

I'm on day 2 now ... I'm liking the food, although I will edit my order to leave off things I really don't like, but I'm willing to try everything included.

I was really hungry yesterday, better today! I do like the convenience of the packeged and preportioned food. That's the main draw of nutri-system for me.

I'm feeling very motivated now ... we'll see how I feel in a couple of weeks! :goodvibes

Hey folks! I am researching different options for me to try to lose this weight. I'll keep lurking to see what I decide to do, but I wanted to pop in and say GOOD LUCK with you weight loss!!

Thanks for the link, I wasn't familiar with that company. Was it more expensive than Nutrisystem?? I got my order today- starting again tomorrow! Do you know there is a community board on the Nutrisystem website? I find it really helpful when I have questions about the plan!

It's hard to compare Nutrisystem to HMR. We didn't do any online ordering with HMR... that's relatively new. HMR, when we were on it, was a offered through a clinic attached to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. So there were service fees to cover the weekly and the later monthly blood-work, to cover the other medical professionals and para-professionals, etc. The entrees ran $2.50 each, and they were comparable to Nutrisystem's lunches, I think. But this was four years ago, so who knows now. I'd guess that the cost is roughly the same, but there were no "bad" entrees. With Nutrisystem, you have good and bad mixed together.

I've seen the Community Board on Nutrisystem's website. It is remarkably difficult to use and follow discussions, especially after using the great vBulletin software here at the DIS. However, if you have a specific question, you can ask it, subscribe to the thread (you MUST do that there to have ANY chance of finding your answer later), and then you'll see replies in your emailbox. I don't really consider it a "Community" board -- it's good for Q&A and very little else, IMHO.

bpr2002, 30 pounds in 3 months is awesome! I'm hoping mine works that way. I just put up another thread but I started today and so far, so good.

Just put in my first order tonight. The reason why i am starting is because my friend started last February and was down 55 lbs. by October. She has kept this weight off since then, so I really hope it works for me too.

I cant believe my first order was sent to my house today only 2 days after ordering it. Problem was I wasnt home so they will resend it on monday, so i will have to wait til then to start.
