Nutrisystem 2007 group.

Well, I started yesterday afternoon.... and, already I can't figure out how on earth I'm supposed to eat and drink everything it says I should.... For dinner I had the cheese ravioli w/basil sauce (it was very good), but then I wasn't hungry for veggies or a salad... then with drinking all this water, OMG

On the bright side, I expect some of the food to taste very bad (like anything with tuna) so I won't order those things again...

I had the blueberry muffins for breakfast & those were good, but then I was too full to eat the yogurt and apple (waited an hour)... then a piece of lowfat cheese for snack, now I'm eating the black bean soup for lunch... it's not so bad, I've had worse, so I'm okay with it...

Oh, I must say I had the peanut butter/chocolate bar dessert & it was GREAT!!!

So, next month, I might just eat 30 days of muffins, 30 days of cheese ravioli w/basil sauce & 30 days of the peanut butter/chocolate bar, don't know about lunch yet, I'm sure I'll find one thing along the way that will make me happy for 30 days... I'm sure over the next 5 weeks I'll find other things to add to my list though :)

After five weeks, if I lose five pounds, I will be HAPPY, if I lose even close to ten I might have a huge party!!! My goals are small to start :lmao:

Finally weighed myself today after starting Nutrisystem 9 days ago. Am down 5 lbs!!

Thank you!! I am sure you will do great. I am finding the program pretty easy, I do have my cravings, but just drink water or flavored club soda first. Just have to find a way to make the vegetables and salad more exciting.

I am on day 17 today. It was 2 weeks Wednesday. I have lost 8-9 pounds (I do not have a digital scale). I am pretty happy with that although I have 37 pounds to go! I'd like to make it 10-12 by my one month mark which is April 21. DH says we probably can't afford more than 3 months of NS foods, so I want to do all I can before that point and then hope I can lose more with WW now that I have portions figured out.

I'm on day 22 or so. I've lost about 7 pounds (with 33 to go). I wish I were losing weight faster, given how much of a burden I consider the food limitations on Nutrisystem to be. For as much blech as I've put up with, I'd expected to have lost more weight. I haven't been exercising as much as I should though, so I'll take a good part of the blame onto myself.

I'm giving up on keeping closely to the program.

The low-GI carb options are really crappy -- nothing I'd ever really seriously eat voluntarily, as such. I'm aiming to use more of their healthy (presumably low-GI and low-fat) crunchy snacks to satisfy my carb needs, because they make up for it by being substantially convenient.

The breakfasts and lunches are also unacceptable to me. While a few of them are moderately okay, the vast majority are just not anywhere as healthy (and tasty) as what I was having for breakfast and lunch previously.

Breakfast was typically a protein shake, far better in nutritional quality to Nutrisystem's. I also did a lot of "healthy" cereal for breakfast, but clearly would let the portions get out of hand. So I'll be choosing cereal based on a principle that it must have better numbers (basically, better protein grams per calorie and better fiber grams per calorie) than Nutrisystem's, and I'll pre-portion everything the minute it gets home.

Lunch, before Nutrisystem, was typically a salad with crab, salmon or tuna in it. I never got tired of either, but remarkably, despite the apparent variety of choices on Nutrisystem, I have already gotten tired of their breakfasts and lunches. So I'm going back to my original lunches.

On the other hand, the Nutrisystem dinners, the Nutrisystem snacks, and the general concepts, I'm going to stick with.

I agree with you bicker about some of the foods, honestly i would like to have the breakfasts and then have the nutrisytem dinners for both lunch and dinner! I am not crazy about the lunches at all. my friend was really successful on this program so thats why i started. she told me that she never excersized before starting this and that she wouldnt have lost the weight if she didnt use the treadmill 3-4 times a week. I know me, i only lose weight if i excersize too. i joined curves and push myself to go 3 times a week. I see how nutrisystem has changed my eating habits, alot smaller portions, no more soda and no more bread. I think back to a few weeks ago and cant believe how much bread i was eating! i live in brooklyn and the Italian bread, Bagels and pizza are so good, but i have to resist! but good luck to everyone, we just have to find the nutrisystem foods we like and stick with them!

I got the pancake mix for breakfast but have no idea whats allowed with it. I dont see anything in the nutrisystem booklet. thanks for the help.

I can't believe I have been on nutrisystem for 21 days already, boy has the time gone by fast. I have only gone off one day but have been following it faithfully. Will weigh in on tuesday as I am trying to lose 25 lbs. with the Sunshine challange here.

HI everyone! I am eagerly awaiting my 2nd food shipment. So far down
15lbs and still motivated. I really hope it arrives before dinner as I don't want anything i have left! :lmao:

I am waiting for my second shipment also. Monday will be 4 weeks that I am on the program. I find it really easy. I feel alot better since I started, I actually dont have any more acid reflux, before Nutrisystem, I was living on Tums at night.

I've been on for one month today. I have lost 12-13 pounds. Very nice but still 37 to go. Hope it doesn't really slow down as I am on a limit of how many months I can go because of the $$$. I haven't been exercising much because the weather has been bad but hope to increase that, which hopefully will keep the pounds coming off. 22 pounds by the end of month 2 would be fine with me.

I should remember to check this thread more frequently now that I'm no NS, anyhow, how did you do on Tuesday?

I have the worst metabolism, but I've lost weight slowly over the last 19 days, down about 4 pounds with no exercise (medical related).... so, I'm fairly happy with NS, but I have to agree about most of the lunches, I have found very few that I liked. I find that I need the breakfast, because without it, I don't eat breakfast... I figure I can afford NS for about 3 months, and I hope that I can lose at least 10 pounds by the end... I've got my fingers crossed on 15, but I would be thrilled with 10.....

actually subbing so as not to miss conversation!

It's been a little more than a month for me, and I've only lost 9 pounds, 31 to go. This is much slower than I expected, but if I don't slow down much I'll be happy. How much did you lose in the first week? I think if you lost the more in the second week than you did in the first, then you probably won't slow down much. Weight loss seems to slow down, early on, but in reality that's only because the first week's weight-loss includes a lot of water-loss. So ignore how much you lost that week, if it was a lot more than what you lost the second week, and then figure the second, third and fourth weeks indicate you real trend. Your weight-loss will still probably slow down from there, but not as much as if you include your first week.

Nutrisystem is very expensive, so we're working with alternatives, using Nutrisystem as a baseline -- whatever we substitute must be at least as good as NS (no more calories, at least as much protein and fiber).

Both DH and myself lost about 10lbs in the first two weeks. DH kept losing a few pounds a week from then on. I hit a bit of a plateau, and got pretty depressed about it all, then it suddenly kicked in again and I lost couple of pounds a week.

Actually I didn't lose a whole lot the first week, and I actually stepped on the scale this morning and have lost SIX pounds!!!! Two days shy of 3 weeks, so I'm really thrilled, it seems I'm going 2 pounds per week.... Weight loss in general IS slow, there's no magic pill... I think losing it slowly is a better way to go.... although I'd like to lose it all in a month! I'm hoping three months will see a 15 pound loss (crossing fingers)

Have you been over to the Nutrisystem boards? Apparently there are recipes there for some of the Nutrisystem foods... I haven't looked at them yet, but will after the 3 months I've allotted myself on the prepared foods. Overall I find I'm eating more healthy with snacks, and that was certainly my downfall! I'm also planning to use NS as a baseline when I'm done with the prepared foods.... I've found it really helpful....

The Nutrisystem boards are painful (the software -- not the content). I just got an email saying something about an upgrade, but haven't been over there to check out the changes yet -- to see if it would be worth making that forum a regular part of my daily rounds.

I'm not sure if you were referring to recipes "for" some of the NS foods, or rather just recipes "with" some of the NS foods. I don't recall seeing any of the former, but do recall seeing many of the latter, and regarding recipes "with" any prepackaged food vendor's foods (whether it be NS, WW, or HMR), I feel that's a non-starter. If I had time to make recipes, I'd have time to make things from scratch, especially since in the latter case there would be no need for the preservatives and such incumbent in prepackaged foods. All these companies, and Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice included, need to understand that convenience is a major aspect of what they're selling, and so their meals need to be utterly satisfying as is.

You mentioned snacks... my downfall as well, to a great extent, I think. Even on NS, though, I can rationalize eating three or four snacks a day ("Better than eating other junk, right?") I get three Low GI carbs a day, but I'd rather have more soy chips or pretzels, and "They qualify right?" (Maybe they do; I don't know, but you see the rationalization I'm talking about?) I'm not sure that every bad eating behavior is overcome-able, or even that every one of them necessarily needs to be overcome. I sure hope not, because if I cannot have at least something sweet and something crunchy and salty every night, I think I'll go bonkers.
