*Nutella* -- how do you use it?

I put Nutella on top of plain rice cakes then sprinkle mini M & M's on top--YUM!!!:cool1:

Pesto mayo is my favorite spread for sandwiches. Tortilla rolled up with smoked turkey, provolone, spinach leaves and pesto mayo--yummy!

My DDs love peanut butter and nutella sandwiches for school lunch.

Does anyone know where I can find the single serving packs of Nutella for lunches? I can only find the jars but heard they make little packs. I cannot even find a website for nutella.

Just this morning - we had Nutella on cinnamon bagels (no raisins-DD doesn't like them). It tastes just like a cinnamon donut with chocolate frosting.

Pesto is like money in the bank. I freeze leftovers in ice cube trays and pop out as many as I need. If I am feeling too pooped to make homemade spaghetti sauce, or I want to bump up the flavour of a meatless sauce, I add a bunch of pesto cubes to a prepared plain sauce--yummy!

I spread nutella on a (pillsbury) crescent roll, add a marschino cherry and roll it up (tuck the ends up). Bake as usual. It's so delicious!!

we don't care for pesto....
however, we don't have the patience to wait to put our nutella on anything other than a spoon and straight into the mouth - that stuff is heaven in a jar!!! :cloud9:

i like the milkshake idea though....i guess i could buy 2 jars, one for eating with a spoon while we make a milkshake with the other ;)

I found this recipe a little while ago. They take a little time but are easy and soooooo good. It's from the "Cream Puffs in Venice" website.

Nutella Meringues
Yields 15 to 20 meringues (depends on how big you make them)

3 large egg whites, at room temperature
a pinch of cream of tartar
a pinch of salt
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon, granulated sugar
1/4 cup Nutella

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Make sure you have one oven rack in the bottom third of your oven and one in the upper third of your oven.

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

Set up a double boiler (a pot with another pot on top or a heat-proof bowl on top) and put the Nutella in the top of the double boiler. Warm the Nutella through and then set aside while you make the meringue. (You could warm the Nutella in a microwave but I don’t own one so you’re on your own if you do use one.) Let the Nutella cool as you make the meringue.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the whisk attachment, place the egg whites. Beat on medium-high speed until they are completely foamy.

Add the cream of tartar and the salt and continue whipping at medium-high speed until when you lift the whisk attachment, soft peaks form. This should take a few minutes.

Once you have reached the soft peak stage, increase the speed to high and begin adding the sugar a few spoonfuls at a time (this should take a few minutes).

Once all the sugar is in, the meringue should be very thick (almost stiff) and when you left the whisk firm peaks should remain.

Remove the bowl from the mixer and drop in all the Nutella. With a rubber spatula, gently fold the Nutella into the meringue three or four times. You’re aiming for a swirled effect so don’t overmix. This will also help avoid deflating the meringue.

Using two spoons, drop the meringue onto the parchment-lined baking sheets in large dollops.

Place in the oven for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, immediately lower the heat to 200 degrees F. and rotate the trays. Bake for an hour.

After an hour, check the meringues. If they are completely dried out then turn the oven off and leave the meringues in the oven for a few hours to cool with the oven. If the meringues still look a bit “wet”, then continue baking for another 20 minutes or so. Either way, once fully baked, turn off the oven and leave the meringues in there for a few hours.

When you remove the meringues from the oven they should be completely dry and cool and will sound hollow when you tap the bottoms.

The meringues will keep in an airtight container for a week.

Does she eat Peanut Butter? The calories are about the same, but Nutella has quite a bit less fat.

Out of my own curiosity, I did a little comparison (online nutrition facts for Nutella vs Kraft smooth PB in my cupboard) - in every 1 tbsp serving, Nutella has what I would call a "smidgen" less fat (6g vs 8g), more of which is saturated (2g vs 1.5g in my PB). Smidgen more calories in PB to be sure (100 vs 90), but Nutella is also loaded with waaaaaay more sugar (11g, more than 10 times the 1g in PB), and packs less protein to boot. Cheers to those of you who love it, but I just don't see adding it to my cupboard. I do love pesto, though :)

saw this recipe on Desserts First this past weekend - looks yummy

I "like" chobani yogurt on FB and it suggested to stir a spoonful of Nutella into a plain nonfat yogurt for a delicious healthy treat. I thought I'd suggest it here!

I eat nutella on wheat bread. I also LOVE nutella in my Shakeology shakes. They are greaty by themselves but when I add the nutella it makes it to die for :) Plus it's healthy so I don't feel bad having a chocolate shake whenever I want :):woohoo:

Ok...Now I know what I'm adding to my grocery list this weekend!
:goodvibes

PS...I made my 1000th post!:dance3:

Don't know if you've been answered yet but I saw the single packets at World Market yesterday. It was in with all of the small sample size foods they have.
