We have an AP room only rate booked for next weekend and we want to make it a "ticketless package" and add dining.

Our AP rate at POP is $74 a night (2 nights) = $166.50 with tax.

We have 2 adults and 2 kids (2 and 7, so 2 year old should be "free").

Mousesavers has dining plan as $46/night adult and $12/night kids, so $104 a night for us.

$166.50 + $208 should be around $375, but the website is quoting $393. :confused3 Same type room at same AP rate.

It's not a huge amount of money, but we're pretty much breaking even on the dining, but we wanted to do it for convenience.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

Is it possible they added vacation insurance? Sometimes that auto adds when you get a quote on a package. Its possible that is the difference?

I made sure that insurance wasn't added. That was a $100+ difference! This is just a small amount difference, but it's driving me crazy why!

Tax, on the Dining Plan ?

Could be, but I thought they didn't charge tax for the plan since technically you're paying tax on the food, so it would be like a double charge.

When I called reservations and asked what the dining plan costs break down to, she said something like $52 adult and $18 kids, which really doesn't sound right!

So who knows...?

Thanks for the replies!

When are you going? Maybe they are raising the price of dining again if it's in 2012.

Maybe it's peak season right now, so it could be 47.99 as an adult and 12.99 for the child. 5 dollar differnce each night.

So it's only a 10 dollar difference than the rate you've figured out. Chances are you probably messed up your calculations somewhere. Honestly 10 dollars is really not enough money to stress over. If it really bothers you, call reservations one more time and confirm the rates and tell them you did your own calculations and you came up with a 10 dollar difference and take it from there.

Enjoy the trip.

It's definitely not peak season right now. I called reservations, and the CM told me that the system doesn't break down the parts of a package, but since we only have room and dining (no tickets), I can figure what the total dining cost is, but I can't figure out how that number breaks down per person and per night. But its still more than the $46A/$12C listed on all the websites I've seen. :confused3

Either way, it's only $20, so not that big of a deal, but stuff like this drives me crazy! :headache: I just want to know where the numbers are coming from.

Why don't you just go to the AP website, plug in your dates and just put in the room only portion first and than add the dining, you can probably figure it out from there. You probably have the wrong room rate, as it varies between different dates like weekends

I tried that. We have a room only reservation booked, so I know that total cost. When I go to book the room + dining online, the package price comes up. From that, I subtract the total on the room, and I'm getting a number $20 higher than what I thought we would be paying for 2 adults, 1 child for 2 nights for dining. It should be a matter of simply adding the 2 together, but it's not working out that way.

Like I said, it's onlly 20 bucks and not a deal breaker, but it irritates me when things don't add up and there's no explanation! :teacher:

when you add 9% to the dining prices you get the total they are quoting you.

You're right! That's weird. That's kind of a strange %, too. Hmmm...

I asked the CM if the prices maybe went up, but she didn't have an explanation!

I'm sure you guys think I'm crazy, but I appreciate the help!

Your post got me curious, and so I price my vacation as well, there's about a 5 dollars difference in my price as well lol. I remember pricing out my vacation this past March and the price matched up exactly. Hopefully you get a resolution, ask a supervisor to look into it.

I just looked at my room only ressie they just emailed me and noticed it said room only rates subject to change. They used to gaurantee the next year prices once they posted them. Strange.

I know people have mentioned a fee of around $15 that is assessed if you make changes within a week or so of arrival. Could this fee automatically be added if you book a last minute package?

That could very well be it. I've never heard of anything like that, but it's definitely a possibility!

Of course, now with Hurricane Irene headed right towards us, we're not sure what to do! We're leaning towards not doing a package and just keeping the room-onlly res just so we're not as "committed".
