Hey ya'll DD and I will be staying 9/15 to 9/21 - our FIRST time at AKL and looking forward to it - you guys make it sound magical....we have pool view reserved and already made ADR for Jiko (a first for that one too) - now if I can figure out a costume for MNSSHP - I'll be set to go

Staying at the akl kidani village for the first time this thurs-monday (23-27th) So excited!

Not sure what area would be most convenient for you. Do you mean for access to the car, for the lobby, pool, health club, elevators? Do you have a floor preference? Floors 2 or 3 would be my preference. I think you will feel closer to the animals.

You might request to be on the side closest to Jambo House (although I'm not sure how to word that exactly! ). The only Savanna view in that half of the resort is Sunset Savanna. There is parking under the building and there are several elevators that take you directly to the parking area.

There are 7 pods of rooms off the lobby (on Jambo side). The elevators are between the 2nd and 3rd pods and the 5th and 6th pods. You might want to add "close to elevators" or "close to lobby" as an additional request.

On second thought, it might be safer to request "Sunset Savanna", then add your secondary requests!

I wish I had a simpler answer for you.

Thanks for your reply, it was very helpful! So I guess at Kidani the wings aren't named like they are in Jambo (eg Zebra trail.). I can see how that would make it harder for the requests. I may just request Sunset savanna and leave the rest to a craps shoot!

Kidani question... Are the Timon elevators the first bank of elevators on the right?

And I have a strange laundry question. Are the washing machines in the rooms front loaders. I am asking because on our last trip we used the machines at CSR and they were front loaders. Our clothes smelled so stinky after I washed them (the musty smell you get from front loaders not being dried out). I would rather not wash them and bring extra clothes. The last time we stayed at BWV our dryer never dried our clothes all the way and they set in the machine when we were in the park all day and were musty and wrinkled. Not trying to be picky just don't want smelly clothes Thanks

Hi. Just got back from Kidani! Yes Timon is first bank on right from what I recall. We were Rifiki first on left. Both are Great for reception , shop , Sanaa and car park! And laundry. There was one front loader but the rest ( about another two I think ) were top loaders so you are safe! Washed and dried all our clothes a treat. Never anyone in there. We had the place to ourselves. Great flat screen tv in there! Btw Timon is very near the laundry if I have my geography correct. This resort is so nice.

Thanks! I am sure no matter where we stay it will be fine. I am a little nervous because I has to really talk my family into going in July. We are in FL for a wedding and I knew if we didn't go then it would be awhile before we got the time to go. So if I can score us a good location they will see I am right

Are you staying cash or on points? There will be a 1 load box (it's traditionally been Tide powder) in the room.
If staying on points I have read conflicting reports whether it is replaced on T&T day. I didn't think it typically did, but I could be wrong. I know they will traditionally replace anything that helps keep the villa clean at any time (dish soap, paper towel, tissue paper towel). If it's used to keep you clean (towels, toiletries) this is replaced on T&T and full clean days. I am not 100% where coffee and laundry detergent fall here.
I have not even a guess what happens if you're paying cash.
So I would bring more or it's available in the laundry rooms for purchase for $1 box. (Sorry, did I just make that clear as mud )??!!

There is not a blender in the villa, but you can ask for one from housekeeping and hopefully one will be available for your use (I'm not sure how many they have available or how popular that request is).

I am a little confused about the views, one place said you can see animals no matter what room you are in, but, I thought it was only the Savannah side you could view the animals. Can someone help with my confusion?

Wherever you read that animals can be seen from all rooms........ I'd stay away from that site!

If you are booking CL, you WILL get a Savanna View room! All Club Level reservations which are through the resort (not through DVC) are guaranteed Savanna View!

For non-Club Level reservations, the only way you are guaranteed to see animals from your room is to book "Savanna View". You can not see any animals from a "Pool View" room. If you have a "Standard View" reservation, you might end up with a partial animal view (rooms on the Savanna which have been reclassified since they aren't desirable Savanna views).

technically, you CAN see animals no matter what room you book...but you would have to go OUT of your room to an Animal Overlook spot..LOL
