Nuclear Blunder

I see where you are coming from. :rolleyes1 There is a huge comparision to arresting the wrong person and forgetting to take nuclear warheads off missles.

I got an idea!!! How's about you blame the *actual* person who did it? I bet they feel pretty low right about now. Go give them a kick while their down.

Excuse me, but our son is active duty Air Force. Don't you EVER mess with this Mom when it comes to stuff like this!!!

ps...go ahead, Mods, and give me points but I am pi$$ed!!!!

HUH? Who's messing with who? You're pissed about what? Someone commented on your "bravo, touche" post? FYI, this is a public BB where people express opinions and has nothing to do with your son's service. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and don't get a pass because someone close to them is active military. There are lots of people here with loved ones in the military. And their opinions are all over the place.

My mistake. I thought Bush was commander in thief..I mean chief..So yes, that would make nukes his responsibilty, even if he can't pronounce the word. ;)

Have more cool-aide

When you read the article did you conveniently miss the last paragraph

"The BBC's Adam Brookes in Washington says experts have made it clear that if the plane had crashed there would not have been a nuclear explosion but there could have been a threat from plutonium leakage. "

And that leakage would be very small.

President Johnson slipped up once too. I had a good friend who served in SAC back in the sixties. The procedure then was to have the bombers fly out to a certain point and not beyond unless they got a coded message. They would then turn around and come back. Well, once one of them didn't turn back. Somehow they thought they got the go ahead. When that happens you ignore all radio recalls and keep going. Luckily a fighter group was flying nearby and one of the pilots was a good friend of the B-52 pilot and was able to get him to turn back.

Johnson just didn't have the time to get to him.

I won't tell you about some of the other scary stories he had.

You watch the history channel? they had a story about the cuban missile crisis. You know that U-2 that was shot down over cuba? The missile commander was under orders from Russia not to fire. They (Soviets) also found out they didn't have the control they thought they had on their subs in the area. One of them almost fired off a nuke.

So don't go around blowing your horn about how the man controls everything. he can't, and everyone who sat that chair couldn't.

Hundreds of thousands of men in the military and a small group made a mistake. WOW!!! You just do your best to prevent it from happening.

Let you in on a little secret

Your credibility is kind of shot right now

Like I said, this is probably a non event event,

but if it happened because were had an overstretched military while engaged in a war of choice - I might be more concerned .

The way my guys were talking tonight, it seems to be a non-event. Actually, more surprise that the general public found out at all. Generally, they don't share the nuclear stuff - accident or otherwise - with the public. And I don't know about bombers, but I could share my opinion on tanker wings being overstretched. :rolleyes1

As a Briton, its scares me that there is even a slim chance that the Socialists, sorry, Democrats will get the presidency again.

The terrorists will be laughing thei socks off at the possibility.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Why do you want to deny her that right? Just because you don't agree with her? Predictable, but you sholud follow your own thoughts on the matter...

You're unbelievable. Keep up the good work; your creditability never ceases to amaze me.:hippie:

It's just a symptom of BDS. Everyone who has it will be miraculously cured on 1/21/09.

Ok, I'm angry with this President too-he betrayed me in a way that I would have never thought possible, but I can't pin this one on him. He deserves blame for a lot of mistakes but this isn't one of them.

Show me and the good folks here how you came to the conclusion I'm denying her right to her opinion. Take your time.

I think at this point you and Krauthammer ought to rethink the defintion of "Bush Derangement Syndrome". After the last 6 years, nearly 3700 American lives, nearly 28,000 American bodies, and 500,000,000,000 (that's billion with a "B) American tax dollars, the true sufferers of BDS are the 26%-29%.

This is rich. :lmao:

If that's the way you feel, I suggest you get your own house in order instead of looking at mine.

British Troops Leave Basra Base in Iraq

British Troops Withdraw From Remaining Base in Iraq's Second-Largest City

Your erstwhile political allies on this side of the pond would say, the Brits "cut and run".

Those on my side of the aisle would say "the Brits finally woke up and smelled the latte".

It took me a minute too. I'm thinking it's the day President Bush will no longer be in office. Although, how this mistake can be considered his fault, I fail to see.

Didn't you know everything is President Bush's fault? My dog wouldn't take his pills this morning. That's President Bush's fault because my 13 year old dog has some liver problems which he wouldn't have if President Bush wasn't responsible for global warming and the pollution that is everywhere today, which is probably what caused my dog's liver problems.

There was no global warming or pollution before President Bush's tenure in office.

As far as this incident...people are going to make mistakes. I am sure that there are all kinds of rules and regs with regard to nuclear arms, but people are still going to screw up.

After the fact, there is one thing to do, and that is learn from the situation. Look at it, figue out where the "break" happened and fix it so it doesn't happen again. My guess is that we have less of a chance to die in a nuclear accident than we do driving to work.

It's hopeless. Bush could aim a nuke up their Aunt Tilly's behind and they would say he got bad intelligence from Clinton. Or Carter. Or Edwards. Or Kennedy. Or Rosie.

Charles and I aren't incessantly obsessed with Bush and lay all of the world's ills at his feet.

HOLY ****! How the HELL did THAT happen?!

Rich::

I would be more concerned about the Russian, nuclear capable bombers that approached your airspace and had to be turned back by the RAF.

Me thinks you project too much.

This bears repeating. There's plenty of reasons to criticize President Bush. This is not one of them.
