Nuclear Blunder

You know I don't know whether this thread makes me laugh, cry or be sick BUT it is definitely one of them. We were discussing this at dinner tonight and my 9 yr old, yes 9 yr old said what is wrong with people this is no big deal. Haven't they heard of the cold war when we flew planes with nuclear war heads 24/7? There was always a plane in the air always for 40 yrs with war heads in them. Now if a 9 yr old can understand this what does that say about the average american and their knowledge base.

It is no big deal folks. As my son said used to be a constant.

PS. I agree about Bush being a fighter pilot and also a fighter pilot in one of the hardest to fly planes in the American arsenal, only the best got to fly that sucker.

But it was President Reagan's fault then! You know, that president that won the cold war? ;)

What exactly are you saying? :confused3 Perhaps I don't want to know.

I'm saying you are more or less ordering another poster to adjust their posting style to accommodate your sensibilities. I'm merely pointing out that we, including yourself, all speak our mind and you shouldn't expect another poster to post any differently than they normally do. LuvDuke did not personally attack you.

I am not real flowery with words, but my emotions are intense when it comes to my beliefs. If I offended anyone, I am sorry. There are certain posters on the DIS that brings out the worse in me. There are a few on this thread that do just that.

I find that sometimes a PM is a better way to get your point across if something really upsets you.

Thank you for the lecture. I will forever be grateful.

You obviously have a case of raw nerves tonight. I meant absolutely no malice by my post.. it was a genuine suggestion that I follow myself. I also obviously can't say anything that won't provoke a hostile response from you, so I'll close out.

My mistake. I thought Bush was commander in thief..I mean chief..So yes, that would make nukes his responsibilty, even if he can't pronounce the word. ;)

If Bush weren't well connected, he stood three chances of getting that gig.

Slim, fat, and none.;)

So he is supposed to go around the world every time they want to move one and personally oversee the operation? Don't you find that to be a bit of "Micro Management Overkill"? I suppose next time a cop arrests the wrong person you are going to blame Bush?

You know, he would have been out there inspecting that plane but he went to Iraq and now he is in Austrailia. Maybe VP Cheney will check on them instead. If that doesn't work, why don't you give Nancy Pelosi a call. :lmao:

I see where you are coming from. :rolleyes1 There is a huge comparision to arresting the wrong person and forgetting to take nuclear warheads off missles.

So by this logic those bombings in Keny and Tanzania, as well as the bombing of the Cole the bombing of the base in Saudi Arabia, Black Hawk Down, the "lies" about Bin Laden being connected to Iraq and the cruise missles we fired over there and any other Military "accidents" that happened is the Commander in Chief's responsibility?

We may need to bring up charges on someone then.

You can't possibly be saying that every military movement of personnel and equipment in the country goes thorough, or should goo through, a presidential approval????

If this is what you're saying, well, wow.

While I consider this a non-event event......I will say that I believe much of our military home and aboad is overstretched. It may be his error as commander in chief if the mistake happened because of our troops are overburdoned. I am sure that our troops in the states bare a heavier burdon when so many of their commerades are depoyed.

If this war was begun with adequate support from our allies...
If this war was not pre-emptive...
If this war was started with a viable exit strategy....
If this war was not encouraged with massaged intelligence....

Maybe he would bare less responsibility.

The "If" game could be fun. Like IF the slickster would have taken Bin Laden when he had the chance?

Except the "If" game is completely off topic, so let's not.

Like I said, this is probably a non event event,

but if it happened because were had an overstretched military while engaged in a war of choice - I might be more concerned .

(by the way that bin laden what if game is real fun when you go back to the Soviet/Afghanistan war and our support of those that inevitably gave Bin Laden the nudge he needed)

Whether this is an "event" or not was not the purpose of the OP. It was to blame the president for something he had nothing to do with. She doesn't seem to have gotten much support, clear thinking has prevailed.

We don't know why the mistake happened. It could be just a rare doodoo happens kind of thing. But if this mistake is one of many because our troops are pushed to the limit, at that point the commander in chief may have so culpability because he led us into a war of choice. I think this is fair.

But to say he is at fault because he should always have an eagle eye on everything at all times is silly.

But I hope you can see my distinction.
