Now What Do I Do?

I've never booked any DVC trip at the 11 month mark before. In fact, we're often in the 4-5 month range, very happy to stay at OKW or SSR if that's what's left (we like SSR and have stayed there 4 times). In fact, we've never even stayed at one of our home resorts - AKV.

So now, we're planning a big family trip. In addition to my wife and her youngest son, it includes my mother and father, brother and his wife, sister and her husband and two sons (2 and 7). Yes, I know, complete insanity to consider this.

The problem is that I have just booked everything for next January - 9 nights Grand Villa at AKV and 4 nights Grand Villa at OKW, and now I HAVE NOTHING TO DO.

Normally when I book a few months out, park hours are out, dining reservations can be planned, flight and car rental prices can be monitored. I can't do any of that. In fact, it will likely be months before I can start planning park days and dining and flights, etc. I'm going to go nuts. I don't even have a waitlist to check everyday. (Well we're waitlisted at OKW to move to a "Near HH" GV, but who cares?)

What do you do between 11 months and when everything else can happen? Okay, enough venting.

There is a very easy solution to this dilemma.....book a trip(or 2!) in the interim.

I begin thinking about restaurants and usually change the dates on my Disney Excell Spreadsheet. I start asking what everyone wants to do. This year it is leave off Brown Derby and eat in Germany and at The Hoopdee Doo. In May I will be able to pre purchase MVMCP (trip12/01-12/10) tickets and then begin ADR and park hours planning in June. Up until that point I usually spend a couple hours on the DIS getting ready and listening to my Disney CDs.

Another one here who begins to think about the restaurants and....I'll usually change my mind 2-3 times before I make the ADR's!!

Mmmmm! Food! I could do that. I usually just pick a couple of days before I make ADR's, but I could really get into a good obsession on this one. I know for sure we will be doing Crystal Palace and Tusker House, but I haven't made any other decisions.

I can see a whole spreadsheet coming on. Evaluating all the restaurants in EPCOT. I like the PP who reads reviews. Bonus points to places we haven't eaten before.

Maybe we should try a restaurant at one of the resorts. Great suggestions, this has possibilities for keeping me going for 3 months.
